Chapter 103 Fallen Alpha

Chapter 103 Fallen Alpha
Chapter 103

Alpha Thomas' POV

My eyes flew open.

My chest rose to extent that my heart beat so loud into my eardrums.

"Alpha Vexhood!" I cried out.

The utterance escaped out of my lips to the extent my lips couldn't stopped them. The sound echoed through the walls of the room.

My stomach turned in. I blinkly severally. Like I had come across a ghost.

No this couldn't be real.” I silently muttered.

Or a dream or a trick influenced by the gods played by alpha Vexhood?

Or was Alpha Vexhood, the most powerful alpha in all the lands, actually lying here in front of me, looking like... like this?

I took a shaky breath and stared once again. This time, more calmly than ever?

The same Alpha Vexhood who could speak to a thick stone wall and it would split in two just to let him pass. The same alpha who could make obstacles disappear with just his voice.

But now, what has gone wrong?

I stepped closer, my legs feeling heavy as rocks.

Bandages. Everywhere on Alpha Vexhood's body.

White strips of cloth wrapped around his head. Around his arms. Around his chest. From the top of his skull down to his toes, he looked like someone had tried to hold him together with whatever they could find.

My mouth went dry.
Was he disguising himself? Playing some sick game?

This had to be a trick. Some twisted joke after everything he'd done to my house. After he killed my fated mate. After my Luna, my beautiful mate, was wrapped in burial cloth, waiting to be put in the ground.

How dare he show up here looking like the victim?

Then he spoke,

"A...Alpha Thomas..."

My name found it way out of his lips. His voice ragged, not just little, like someone that has been tremendously afflicted by the gods.

Alpha Vexhood lifted one hand into the air. Slowly. Painfully. Like he was trying to grab onto something invisible. Like he was drowning and reaching for help.

I looked around the room.

Left. Right. Behind me.

Was someone watching? Was this some kind of performance or plot?

"Alpha Vexhood?"
Even in my worst nightmares, the ones where I woke up screaming, I had never seen him like this. If someone had told me this was possible, I would have laughed in their face and called them a liar.

I still couldn't believe what my eyes were showing me.
Maybe he was faking it. Pretending to be hurt.
But that didn't make sense either.

Alpha Vexhood wasn't the type to hide. He did terrible things, or good things, depending on who you asked, and then stood there bold as brass, daring anyone to judge him. He never backed down. Never pretended to be weak.

Alpha Vexhood. The all-powerful. The all-knowing. The all-conquering.
The alpha who bowed to no one.
But this...

Enough of whatever game this was.

My house was burning, not with real flames, but with grief and rage and pain. And he was going to sit here wrapped in bandages like he was the one suffering?

I felt anger explode inside my chest like a fire catching on dry wood.

"You are indeed a chief priest!" I snapped. My voice came out sharp and cutting.
I took another step toward him, my hands balling into fists at my sides.

"This is the least expected from you, holy one."

Alpha Vexhood's face changed. His eyes went wide. His eyebrows shot up. His mouth opened just a little, like he was trying to speak but forgot how.

He looked... confused. Lost.
Like I had just spoken in a language he didn't understand.

The pain on his face looked real. Too real.
But I didn't care. I couldn't care.
Not after what he did.

"You came into my house in the hours of the night to kill my wife?"
My voice rose. It filled the room. It shook with everything I'd been holding inside since I found her.

Alpha Vexhood squeezed his eyebrows together. His eyes darted across my face, searching. Hunting for something. An answer, maybe. Or understanding of the whole situation.

But he just looked... lost.
I didn't stop. I couldn't stop now.

"Yet you didn't give me the reason to know my sins!" The words tumbled out, faster and faster. "You didn't give me the chance to beg the gods for mercy. To ask what I did wrong!"

I paused. Gasped for air. My lungs burned like I'd been running for miles.

"You killed my fated mate!"
My voice cracked on that last word.
I thrust my finger toward his face like a weapon. My whole arm shook.

"Not only that, you killed her while I slept! You woke my mate up beside me by hanging her from the roof of our room, and I didn't even know! I didn't wake up! I couldn't save her!"

Tears burned hot behind my eyes, but I refused to let them fall.

Alpha Vexhood stared at me. His mouth moved but no sound came out. He looked like someone had hit him over the head with a heavy branch.

My hands moved to my chest. I grabbed the edge of my garment, the special robe I'd been wearing since the night it happened, and tore it open.

"And you have the audacity, the nerve
, to kill her with THIS!"

I reached inside and pulled out the totem from under my cloth.

The sacred totem. The symbol of Alpha Vexhood's power.
