I Hate You
PIPER
My life changed 180 degrees after the wedding. Damon did not treat me like his wife for a year, but he watched me so closely. I had to break up with Jeffer, felt the bodyguards secretly following me, and the changes in the other servants in the mansion towards me.
And when I'm thrown into an absurd situation. All I thought about was saving my life.
"How could a creature like you be real!" I muttered. Damon kept moving closer to me, even though I begged him to move away.
I couldn't go back any further. My back was against the wall, and I was trapped in the tightness that seemed to haunt my soul.
"Now, repeat what you just said!"
Damon's baritone voice probed me so deeply. He tore through my defenses so quickly. Standing in front of Damon with such a narrow distance made me realize the feelings I had for him before.
I fell in love with him at first sight. Everyone thought of him as a cold, stone-hearted man, but somehow, I saw a different side of him. I loved his calm yet cold character.
But not with this reality. Not with him turning into a large forest wolf in front of me. Wildness that I can't control. Firm jaws with saliva dripping from his fangs.
"Sir, I can't stand this marriage anymore. I will pay for all your losses," I said. My tone was soft, but I hoped there was a firmness that would make Damon understand. I didn't want to be in this situation anymore.
"You can't pay for my loss with money, Piper!"
"What?" I gasped. My eyes stared at him in confusion.
"Your life! You can only pay for all my losses with your life!"
I shook my head restlessly. What was with this answer? He was quite a realistic man when it came to business. I thought he would immediately mention a large amount of money.
"Sir, I…"
"Or else, pay me with your brother's life!" he said again, cutting me off.
My anxiety grew. I heard threats like this again. When someone knows your weakness and uses it as a weapon to take advantage of you. For me, this kind of thing is very disgusting. What sins have I committed in the past that have trapped me in a situation like this? I am desperately surviving for my parents' wishes and my siblings' savings. This feels unfair.
"Sir, I don't think we will negotiate this way just to pay for all your losses. I'm not the one who asked you to marry me."
"Have you forgotten who destroyed my marriage? Have you also forgotten how you agreed to all the contracts we had previously agreed to? Have you forgotten how long you were supposed to endure?"
Damon reached into his pocket and took out his phone. He showed a video of Johan being slapped by one of Damon's men. Johan had fallen; only the red blush on his cheeks was visible to me.
"Jo-Johan? Jo? What the…" My hand shook as I tried to reach for Damon's phone.
"He tried to escape, so my men taught him the lesson he deserved!"
"Sir, please! It's enough that you threaten us like this. Just because we are weak people and…."
Damon made me stop talking again when his hand gripped my upper arm. It felt like a stern warning he was giving me and not letting me make any more noise than this.
"I told you! You can leave here, but one of you has to pay for the damages for the contract you canceled and everything your brother has done to me!" he said again.
Damon's grip began to weaken. But he didn't move away from me at all. Instead, he moved to touch my lips. "I changed my mind! No matter what happens from now on and in the future. I will not let you go, Piper!"
I shook my head uncomfortably. I wanted something else from him. "Sir, please!"
"You can rebel as much as you want! Do whatever makes you happy. However, I will not divorce you, and you must continue to carry out your duties according to the contract if you still want to meet your brother."
Damon smiled arrogantly as if he had imprisoned me without the slightest gap so that I could not escape from him.
He walked away, leaving me still crying. I changed my mind. I felt like Damon wasn't a man worthy of love or of receiving something about love and sacrifice.
"Argh, I hate you, DAMON!" I screamed.
For a week, I completely let my emotions out. My eating was out of control, my sleeping was not good, and I was still throwing things when I felt so stuck.
"Piper! This is your breakfast. Please don't throw your breakfast plate again," Emma said. Of all the servants who worked in this mansion, only Emma didn't change towards me, even though I became Damon's wife.
"And I told you, I don't want to eat anything anymore!" I said.
Emma sighed. She stood in front of me. Her hands were so gentle that she combed my hair and tied it up in a light bun.
"You lost so much weight. It's not good for you, and because you've been in your room all day, you've become so pale."
I lifted my head, staring at Emma closely. Several times, I wondered: Is Emma human? Is she also one of the creatures like Damon?
No matter how hard I think about it. This is not real. I can't tell the difference between a human and that horrible creature. What do they call it? Werewolf?
"Emma? Have you ever had a nightmare, but when you realized it was the nightmare, it was the most terrifying thing about the dream itself?" I asked.
Emma frowned in confusion. "What do you mean? Instead of discussing this, why don't you finish your breakfast and go downstairs? Mr. Damon said he would bring your brother here, and you can meet him."
"Really?" I was so happy to hear this news.
