Chapter 237 The New House

Chapter 237 The New House
Eirik looked puzzled after Thorin’s and Corvin’s reaction. What was wrong with them? One was choking, and one was laughing while rolling on the floor.

“He is jealous of Maeve Arrendale. He hates her without even meeting her, and now for a few years, that is the only name he keeps hearing. Even Alpha Kaelen suggested her name for the AI program Thorin is thinking about,” explained Corvin.

Thorin kicked him under the table in one swift motion. “Oww!” cried Corvin, but smiled.

“Jealous? Hate her without even meeting her? Yeah, I can understand. She has that effect on people. Either people just fall in love with her or get extremely jealous. She has this power to influence everyone; I have still not figured that out.

“Sometimes I am jealous of her brain too. You were the best hacker I ever met, but then I met her, and she did things that I was unable to even think about. Whatever competition she entered, she won. Whatever exams she took, she aced the results. She broke your record, Thorin. She is brilliant, and her tiny, sweet kid- I am sure she will be brilliant like her mother,” laughed Eirik.

“Yeah, we will see! Wait! She has a kid?” Thorin gritted his teeth.

“Yes, she wrote that AI antivirus and anti-malware when she was pregnant with Valeska. My Maeve is the best,” said Eirik with pride.

“Your Maeve?” asked Thorin. He had no idea, but he felt a pang of jealousy faltering in his heart.

“I told you she is my prodigy. She was in my school; I was her teacher, and there was no one better than her. Expert in everything. When you see her, you will understand,” smiled Eirik.

“Who the hell is she? Why is everyone impressed with her? My record! My record? She thinks she breaks my record and everyone will be impressed. But Eirik never gets impressed so easily. Who is she? I am going to make her life so difficult,” pondered Thorin.

Corvin slapped his thigh immediately, and Thorin cleared his throat. He realised that Corvin had heard his thoughts.

“We will leave to check for the house, if that’s okay with you,” said Thorin.

“Yeah, I am fine. Sapphire!” said Eirik, and a lady in her forties appeared next to Eirik. “Take them to every house we have looked for and keep a security team with you.”

“Yes, sir,” replied Sapphire.

“Security?” asked Corvin.

“I know you guys have your bodyguards with you. But we all know how many times Ozul has played his games in Veyantara. It seems like something is pulling him here. And now you are here, Alpha prince and his beta. We have to be careful. Be careful!” suggested Eirik.

“Yes, elder! We will be,” smiled Thorin and moved out with his bodyguards and Sapphire.

Sapphire took him to see a few properties, and he chose the two-storied bungalow. It had five rooms and a big kitchen, a lawn, and a backyard with a swimming pool.

“What about the staff?” asked Thorin.

“Everyone will be here before you shift,” replied Sapphire.

“Okay, then book this house for three months. If we have to stay longer, we can talk later about that. Please make arrangements accordingly,” said Thorin.

“All will be done, Prince. You don’t have to worry about anything,” Sapphire softly bowed before him.

“Please don’t do that. You don’t have to bow,” smiled Thorin.

“You are our prince; of course, I have to bow,” Sapphire smiled, and they all walked to the car. She hesitated before getting inside the car.

“Is something wrong?” asked Thorin.

“Um… nothing! Let’s go!” smiled Sapphire.

“Yes, we can stop wherever you want,” smiled Corvin.

Sapphire looked at him with shock but suddenly relaxed, “Oh, I forgot about your powers.”

“No, I am sorry to hear your thoughts, but you were too loud. I couldn’t help it,” apologised Corvin.

“What are you both talking about?” asked Thorin.

“Sapphire wants to stop at a little girl’s house. Elder Eirik has given her a box of chocolates to give to Vale, is it?” asked Corvin, confirming.

“Yes, Vale, short for Valeska. She is our princess. Can we stop? It will only take a few minutes,” pleaded Sapphire.

“Of course, we can!” smiled Thorin. The cars moved along, and Sapphire made them stop at a corner. She walked a few meters and then entered a house with a white picket fence. The whole front yard of the house was smelling sweet. Every strong-smelling flower was blooming in the garden. Thorin looked at the house, and a sweet smile appeared on his face automatically. His mind immediately flashed Eve’s face. She, too, smelled like the valley of flowers. The garden made him recall her smell.

“Why are you smiling?” teased Corvin.

“Stay out of my mind, you idiot!” snapped Thorin.

“Okay, okay, geez!” said Corvin but kept smiling at Thorin, teasingly. Sapphire came out within minutes. She was smiling, and she sat in the car. They all went back to Eirik’s house. Sapphire had already called the landlord beforehand, and he was in the house already with all the papers. Thorin read the terms, signed the papers and the house was booked for three months.

The next day, Thorin and Corvin shifted to their new house. Sapphire looked after everything. She hired the staff, she ordered groceries, every household's amenities and by evening the house was ready to live in. Thorin and Corvin chose the rooms on the first floor, and they fixed the room on the ground floor for Vespera. The bodyguards were given two rooms to share. And Thorin was going to change one room into his gym. He had to train daily after all.

That night Thorin could not sleep well. His mind kept flashing Eve’s face but Maeve’s name. he was getting angrier at Maeve. He really wanted to meet that girl and make her life difficult. But he knew that Maeve was the only one who was going to help find Ozul and then Eve. Maybe he could be a little lenient while dealing with Maeve Arrendale.

Early morning on Monday, a car stopped at the gate with a loud screech. Before anyone could react to that, the doorbell rang like someone’s pants were on fire.

“Coming! Coming!” shouted Corvin and ran downstairs. But the hired butler was already at the door and opened it. Vespera, dressed in lazy blue pyjamas, came running inside the house.

“Corvin! I am here!” she smiled.

“Yeah, I can see that,” yawned Corvin.

Vespera pouted immediately. “Are you not happy to see me? Tell me how happy you are to see me,” she smiled.

Corvin scoffed and started smiling, “Very! But I was sleeping. Will you be quiet for a few hours? Then we all can go to the office together. What say?”

“Where is Thorin?” asked Vespera.

“Still sleeping! Our butler will show you your room, and he can ask others to bring your luggage. See you in a few hours. Okay?” smiled Corvin.

“Okay, fine!” said Vespera and asked the butler to lead the way.
