Chapter 213 Chapter 213
Chapter 213 Chapter 213
CHIARA: “We don’t have enough time, not even for a quickie.” I tell him. “I don’t want to be left wanting a release and not being satisfied because we didn’t have the time.” I say. “She’s right Jayden.” Caiden says. “I don’t want her sitting in the courtroom squirming because she didn’t get to come.” He tells his brother. “Yeah, yeah, I get it. I get it. But that still doesn’t mean we can’t shower together.” Jayden throws out. I sigh, “Fine, but behave.” I gave in to him. And his face lights up like a kid in a candy store that was told her could have as much as he wanted of his favorite sweet. I could only shake my head. And headed for the bathroom. The twins join me, and yes, they do behave. And that’s when it hits me, when did it happen, that I am taking showers with them? Like it was nothing. I have also noticed that the majority of my scars have faded to almost nothing. When we get out of the shower, I go over to the wardrobe and pull out one of the dresses that I brought for the occasion. It wasn’t anything fancy; it was nice, casual. But not too casual. It fits the bill for lunch with the king and could still double for the trials. The closer it got to lunch, the more my nervousness spiked. I mean, what if I say the wrong thing, or speak out of turn? It terrifies me. But the twins are right there, soothing me. “Babe, it’s ok, calm down.” Caiden says. As he starts to rub circles on my back. “I wish I could. What if I screw up? Say the wrong thing? Talk out of turn? It all terrifies me.” I tell them. “You will be fine.” Jayden answers me as he slides his hands up and down my arms. Then the knock comes on the door signaling lunch. We file out into the hallway, where we meet up with Alpha Derric and follow the king’s servant down to the dining hall. The king is already there when we enter. He’s a handsome man. He is that cross between Sean Connery and Sam Elliott. With warm, kind eyes. But I can just imagine if he were crossed. His eyes, turning the person to stone. He has a bright smile that shows his teeth when he smiles. It helps to settle my nerves some. “Come, come, sit, enjoy.” The king called out to us as we entered the dining hall.
EMMERY: “Majesty, may I introduce Alpha Derric Silver, his twin sons Caiden and Jayden Silver, their mate Chiara Dawson Silver. Of Silver Aspen Pack.” I made the introductions, and as I said their names, they stood up and bowed to the King. “Honored guest, I present his majesty, Thomas James Winston.” “Thank you, Emmery, for the introductions.” The king says. I nodded to him and took my place at the table.
KING: “I’m sure you are probably wondering how the proceedings are going to go. So, I will cut to the chase. Three council members will be sitting in judgment for all the trials. Emrick, Nancy, and Geraldine will be presiding over the hearings. They have no bias towards the individuals or the situation, as they were not part of the investigation. They have read the full reports of the investigation given by both Emmery and Nash. And they will be the ones to decide guilt or innocence, or the level of guilt. I want you to understand that, at least with the warriors, several of them may only be guilty of having to follow bad orders. And if that is the case, we may let some of them go depending on how much of those orders they actually carried out.” I tell them. “We will start with the warriors, one at a time. If it is deemed that they were following bad orders, they will be moved to a different holding cell where they can not discuss what was said in the courtroom with the others.” “So, now with that out of the way, let us enjoy lunch.” I tell them.
CHIARA: Lunch was delicious. We started with a salad, then we were served our choice of beef, chicken, or turkey hoagie, with our choice of beef vegetable soup, chicken wild rice soup, French onion soup, or tomato basil soup. Light enough but also filling enough to get us through to dinner. After lunch was over, we all made our way to a stairwell that led down. We were, I believe, two stories underground, and we walked into a brightly light court room. It was crazy because it felt like we were walking into the sunlight. But yet we were two stories underground. We all took our seats in the witness gallery and waited. The King took his seat. It was elevated and to the left of the judge’s bench. So, he could see and hear the whole trial and yet be removed from it, unless he specifically asked for more information on a topic or subject. And that’s how the trials got started. The guards brought in the younger warriors first. “State your name, and Pack for the records.” Was the first thing that was asked of everyone. “I am going to ask you one question, and depending on your answer, will depend on what will happen next. Do you understand?” The king asked and said to each and every one of them as well. “Yes, your majesty.” They all answered. “Good. Who are you loyal to?” the king asked his question. If the answer was Alpha Jeremy, they were removed to the other holding cell, which the king talked about. But if they said the old Alpha, their trial would begin right after their answer. But again, as the king said, their level of guilt was also assessed if they were found guilty. As it turned out, many of the ones that said they were loyal to the old Alpha were also Alpha-commanded to take part in the attack on Silver Aspen. Although some thought they were justified in what they did. Those ones were taken back into their original cells to wait for their execution. And that is how the trials went. We were there for a week, dealing with them, giving our testimony on the attack on our Pack during my Luna ceremony. The last ones to be tried were the ranked members. And the first one of them was Nate. We all knew he was guilty as sin. But it was up to the council members to decide his fate. All of us were called on to give our testimony of what happened the day we were there to assess the Pack. I was one of the last ones to be called on to give my testimony. I didn’t know that Nash had taken pictures of my neck. “State your name and Pack for the records.” “Chiara Dawson Silver, from Silver Aspen Pack,” I stated. The next question I was asked, I was not at all what I was expecting, and it sent me for a loop.“Why were you at Black Willow Pack on the day in question?” Nancy asked.
