JAYDEN: Brandi and Mathew, as our head delta pair, going to Medow Brook for elite training, will be the first step in a long list of things. That the three of us want to implement over the course of the next year or two. And with Chi’s input, I feel that the Pack will be better and stronger than it ever has been. And I can already feel the change in the Pack. Our members are coming to her for help with things that they never approached Mother for. She has given Luna blessings; she has helped in the clinic, and helped with the pups in the daycare. I am so proud of her. We have all come along way. And I know it’s been less than a year, but it feels like it’s been an eternity from her coma until now. And it’s been a growing lesson for all of us. I am just happy that she gave us a chance. And with her as our Luna, the kind of bullshit Mother pulled won’t happen again. EVER! But it’s time to get downstairs for breakfast and then get loaded and hit the road.
DERRIC: Our warriors made it back in one piece, and the prisoners made it to the royal pack without incident. I guess we can trust Simon and Collin to pull their weight. That’s good to know. And it turned out that Link was mates with Cory’s cousin Nissa. I’m happy that she has found her mate. I hope he can help her get through whatever happened to her at the hands of Black Willow’s old Alpha. But she seems to be settling in ok. Only time will tell. I don’t really want to leave my mate, but I have to go on this trip. And the sooner we get it done, the sooner we can get back and plan for the yuletide season. It will be interesting to see how Chiara will handle all the festivities associated with it. But I have to get up and get ready to go. I kiss my mate awake. “Mmm.” “Yes. But I have to go love. Join me for breakfast?” “Yes. How long will you be gone?” Karen asked. “I have no clue; it depends on how long the trials take. And if there is any evidence to help plead their reasoning for the forced breading.” I tell her. “But my hope is that we are back before thanksgiving.” I tell her. “You can get together with Shannon and Misha to work out the menu for it.” I say as I finish getting dressed. And we head down to the dining room. The twins and Chiara were already there waiting for us. “Vance, you and Benton hold down the fort while we’re gone. I’m hoping that with any luck at all, we will be back before thanksgiving.” I tell my Beta and Gamma. “I have to say, Derric, I don’t really like the fact that you and the twins have to be gone together.” Vance says. “I know, I don’t like it either, but we have to abide by the king’s wishes. So, we have to go.” I tell him. He nods his understanding. And after breakfast, we load up. I have 4 of our best guards with me in my SUV. The twins, Chiara, Randy, and Leanna, are in their SUV, and we have one more with just guards. We head out; it’s going to be a long drive. I did inform the king that we would be stopping for the night; I didn’t want my people to be fatigued from the drive, just in case there was trouble. And he agreed.

CAIDEN: We reach the Royal Pack without any problems. The mansion is huge, stately, and it screams of both power and money. And the power isn’t the kind from wealth; it’s from its age. They say that it has been the seat of all the kings from the very first one. This place has a long and bloody history behind it. The king’s Beta is there to greet us along with Nash, Emmery, and three others of the king's council, whom I learned were Emrick, Nancy, and Geraldine, as we all get out of the vehicles. They all stepped forward to shake hands with us as they were introduced to us. When Beta Josuah came forward, I couldn’t help myself. “Sir, I know that this is a bit premature, but I would like to offer both my brother and myself as executioners for the ranked members of Black Willow. I know, as I said, it may be premature, but our wolves are unsettled about what they did. And they both want blood.” I tell him. “As you said, young Alpha, it is premature, but I will pass your sentiment on to his majesty.” He said. “That is all I can ask.” I said. “Thank you.” He nods at me and leads the way into the mansion.
JAYDEN: I saw my brother talking in earnest with the king’s Beta. I linked him when they were done. “What was that about?” “I wanted to let him know that you and I would be more than happy to be the executioners for the ranked unit. I told him it would help settle our wolves.” “What did he say?” “That it was a bit premature to be thinking that way, but that he would pass it on to the king.” “Well, that's something to hope for then.” I say and close the link. We fall in line behind Father, with Chiara between Caiden and me, and head into the mansion.
CHIARA: They call this place a mansion! But to me it's more like a castle without the towers. This place is huge. And you can feel the power running through it. It pulses through the very stones it's made from and sits on like it has a heartbeat of its own. All of us are shown to our rooms. Alpha Derric is across the hall from us, and our warriors are placed in rooms surrounding ours. We are on the third floor, which I understand is the guest floor. We got here a bit before lunch, and so we got a little time to settle in before we had to go and be social. And then I guess the trials will start. I am nervous about the trials, only because of the king. I have never been to anything this intensely formal before. Even my Luna ceremony wasn’t this formal. But I suppose when it comes time for the twins to actually take over from Alpha Derric, that will end up being a pretty formal affair. And I have a feeling that he has something planned in that regard for Yuletide. Oh well, I’ll deal with that when it happens. Right now, I want a shower and just to chill before lunch, when we will end up meeting the king, and then the trials. “Chi, come on, let's go shower.” Jayden says. “Only if the two of you can behave.” I tell him. “Oh, I’m hurt!” He places his hand over his heart in a dramatic show. I shake my head at him.
