CHAPTER 280
Chapter 280
Haven's head reeled as she stared at Tristan's beaming face. All her life, Haven had dreamt of being with Tristan.
Even after he betrayed her, even after she found out she was mated to the supreme Alpha, Haven still longed for him. A small part of her longed to be with Tristan, and Haven hated herself for that every single day.
He had inflicted a pain she had believed would never heal. He had broken her trust and made her never want to trust anyone ever again. Haven had always thought she would never get over the pain he had caused, but then she was proven wrong when Lucious came into her life. He had shown her what it meant to be loved again.
Haven was ready to start her life all over again– heck!– she had already begun. She wanted to have a family of her own and spend the rest of her life loving the man who had stood by her when no one else was. Haven had dreamt of all that and more, but now, she could see her dreams crumbling before her very eyes.
Why did Tristan have to return to her life now? Why now, of all times, just when she had found her happiness?
Haven's heart started to waver slightly as she stared into those enchanting eyes. They willed for her to say yes, and Haven found it hard to pry her eyes away. His eyes always enchanted her. It was one of the things she was crazy about, and he knew it.
Haven had fought to hate this man for everything he's done to her, but as his eyes bore into hers, she felt her knees start to weaken and her heart thumped even louder. She quickly looked away, disappointed in herself.
She was getting swayed again.
What if she were foolish enough to say yes? She would have the man she had loved more than her life back. She would have her pack, her friends, her family, and life back, but then what about?
It sounded tempting, but what about Lucious? The man she had just begun to love?
Who does she really love? Tristan or Lucious?
"Vinnie," Tristan reminded her of his existence. Hearing him call her by her pet name brought tears to her eyes.
"Come with me, let's start all over again." Tristan gave her his hand, his expectant eyes never leaving hers. Every second that passed made him want to pull Haven into his arms. He had missed that feeling like hell. After what felt like forever, Haven's lips finally moved, " No."
"What?" Tristan was taken aback. He didn't expect Haven to reject him like that.
"NO," Haven repeated a little louder this time around. Tristan stared at her, hurt visible in his eyes.
"But—'
"Don't touch me!" She half-yelled and shoved his hands away when he tried to hold her.
"Haven?"
"How dare you think of touching me?" Anger slowly bubbled up her veins. "You have no right!" She snapped, "You have lost every right to touch me after everything you've done."
"I'm sorry" Was all Tristan could say.
"Sorry?" Haven snickered, " You think sorry will fix everything? You snatched everything away from me." Tears welled up in her eyes.
"My pack, my home, my life, my world! Everything, Tristan!" Haven's vision turned blurry as she spoke; it felt as if a huge burden was being lifted off her chest.
"Haven i—"
"You betrayed me!" She cut him off, "You cheated on me with my best friend!" The tears finally rolled down her cheeks.
"Please listen—" Tristan attempted to hold her once more.
"Don't fucking touch me!!" She screeched.
"Okay, okay, I won't touch you." Tristan gave up, " But at least listen to me–"
"I don't want to hear anything," She shook her head. "Everything was over a very long time ago. There's nothing left for you to say now. It's all over. "No," Tristan's eyes widened as she walked away. He hurried to block her path, "Please don't go."
"Move," Haven barely looked at him. She tried to walk past, but he blocked her again.
"Haven, please, I promise to fix everything. I'll make everything right."
"You don't see it, do you?" Haven had wiped the tears off her cheeks. Tristan didn't deserve any of it. "There's nothing left to fix," She sniffled and stared up at him.
"Everything got ruined the day you decided to betray me."
"But I love you." Tears glistened in Tristan's eyes. He lost Haven before; he wouldn't be able to bear it if he lost her this time, too. "We can make everything fine if we just—"
"You have a wife now, Tristan," Haven felt the need to remind him, " And a child, in case you're forgetting. You have your own family and I—" Haven paused, Lucious' face formed in her mind " I have my own mate"
The smile on her face made Tristan let out a low growl. " A mate?" His blood started to bubble. "How can you call that man your mate?"
"He is my mate," Haven growled back.
"No" Tristan shook his head stubbornly "I– I refuse to believe it. You're just pretending, right? You're both pretending to be mates because everyone knows the Alpha has been cursed. He cannot have a mate."
"Well, he does," Haven scoffed. She was tired of hearing people say, "And I am his mate."
Tristan snarled, "You are mine, Haven. You cannot belong to someone else. You are mine and mine alone! No one else's. You cannot be with another man—"
"Yet you're allowed to be with another woman?" Haven tilted her head
slightly
Tristan went mute under her disappointed gaze.
"I'm sorry," He tried to apologize again. Haven felt her head start to ache. She tried to walk away, but Tristan wouldn't let her. The more he talked, the more the blood in her veins bubbled. Her fists balled by her sides till she couldn't take it anymore.
"Go away.. Please," She pleaded.
"Haven—"
"LEAVE!! " she screeched, unable to hold it in anymore. "JUST LEAVE TRISTAN! GO AWAY!" She shoved him with all her strength.
Tristan was caught off guard. He stumbled backwards, his head snapped back at her in shock. He almost couldn't recognize the woman before him anymore. She was nothing like the Haven he knew and loved. Her cold eyes held nothing but hatred as she said her following words.
"I NEVER want to see you EVER again"
