Chapter 258 - Three guardian angels

Anastasia.

Sebastian confessing was one thing. And now, I’m mated to Nikolai. And I have already accepted his proposal. I wonder what’s going to happen now?

Maybe, he and I weren’t meant to be together, and that's why I was mated to Nikolai and not him.

And yet, he was the one who helped me move on from Ryan. I feel bad betraying him like that. I don’t love someone more or less. Both of them are equal in my heart.

“I’m coming in,” Leon’s voice drove into my attention.

He walked inside and closed the door behind him.

Then came over to the side of the bed and stared blankly at me.

I could see the worry on his face very well.

“Uh, where’s Nikolai–“

He wrapped his arms around me tightly, closing his eyes shut.

I hugged him back.

“Thank god you are alright. I was worried sick for you,” he murmured.

“I understand. But, I’m fine. You don’t need to worry. Just some cuts and scratches.”

“You can’t walk, can you? And your head is hurt as well,” he added, pulling away.

“Hm…that’s true.”

“Won’t you become even more stupid if you keep hitting your head like that?” he said in a bland tone.

“What? You have to be kidding me!”

He chuckled bursting out in laughter. “I was joking with you. But, you do keep getting injured one way or another. There’s no end to it. It seems your new hobby.”

“It’s not like I do it intentionally.”

“I got scared seeing you injured,” he added, looking away. “It made me remember the time I found you in the forest. Those wolves had surrounded you, and you were hurt as well. Just thinking about it gives me the chills. I don’t want to see you in that state ever again.”

“But, you came to save me. I’m grateful to you!” I insisted.

“Grateful huh? You are really simple-minded. That’s why you can’t see the picture clearly,” he mumbled low.

What?

“What do you mean by that?”

“It’s nothing,” he replied, with a sad expression. “I hope you get well fast. And don’t get involved in danger for no reason. These things happen because you take up a task that is not meant for you.”

“Uh….I’ll be more careful from now on and stop making you worry for me.”

“That’ll be great–“

“I’ve brought dinner for you!” Nikolai interrupted, stepping inside.

He carried a bowl in a tray and brought it over to my side.

“Can you move a little?” he said to Leon.

Leon got up, feeling awkward.

“Here have the soup. You’ll feel better after this,” Nikolai said, putting down the tray in my lap. “Or do you want me to feed you?”

“What? No! I can eat by myself!” I said, picking up the spoon the very instant.

“Is she….going to stay in your room for the entire night?” Leon asked, folding his arms. “Where are you going to sleep tonight? If you want you can sleep in–“

“In my room,” Nikolai interrupted.

Leon looked at him puzzled. “Your room? Do you mean this room? Why would you be staying in the same room as her?”

“Why? This is my room? I can’t stay the night here?”

“You can then send her to her own room. I’ll help you help her move–“

“I don’t want to send an injured person move around the house so much,” Nikolai replied. “She can stay in my room for the night. I’ll sleep on the couch.”

“Why go through the trouble? Sleep in my room,” Leon retorted.

“No, I–“

“I think that’s a good idea,” I suggested. “Why not stay in his room? It’s not that far anyway.”

Nikolai’s face became a bit saddened suddenly.

“If you don’t want me to stay then alright. I’ll sleep in your room, Leon.”

“Should’ve done that from the start, Let her eat in peace and go outside. If she needs anything she can call for us.”

“No, I’ll stay with her till she falls asleep!” Nikolai insisted.

“She’s not a child. She can sleep on her own,” Leon retorted.

All of a sudden, the door opened and Sebastian came inside with a flustered expression.

He was panting heavily and seemed deeply affected by something.

“Where is she?” he gasped, looking around.

When his eyes finally landed on me, he sprinted over to my side pushing away Nikolai, and hugged me ignoring that I was drinking the soup.

Nikolai and Leon’s eyes were fixated on him only.

“I heard from your friend that you got hurt while horse-riding. How can you be so careless?” he grunted. “I was worried for you. Why do you give me so much stress?”

“I’m fine, you can let go now,” I whispered low.

The situation is getting even more complicated than I want it to become.

“How’s the wound?” he asked, pulling away.

“It’s okay, kind of bearable. But, I probably can’t walk for a few days.”

“That’s a shame. Still, you don’t have a fractured bone. That’s reassuring.” He looked around and asked, “But, why are you in Nikolai’s room? I thought you were in your room so I went there to check first.”

“Uh……it kind of ended that way….”

“That room is too small for a sick person,” Nikolai complained. “That’s why I brought her here. Let her stay. She’ll be fine here.”

“Where will you sleep then?”

“In my room,” Leon answered.

They both asked the same thing. These brothers are in sync today.

“Oh, that’s great. You are so kind to let her use your room.”

“I did whatever I saw fit,” Nikolai replied, fuming. “If you are done checking on her let her eat in peace.”

Sebastian looked at me and noticed the tray of bowls on my lap.

“Oh, you are right. Sorry for disturbing you. Eat well and rest. I’ll come to see you again later,” he replied smiling.

I nodded.

All three of them left one by one. After eating I lay down and tried to sleep. Someone opened the door and turned off the lights. It was Leon I could tell from the back.

Then came Nikolai and Sebastian. They all took their turns to check on me instead of coming in altogether. And they even made sure that I wouldn’t be disturbed while they watched over me from a distance.

Suddenly I have all three of them worrying for me. But, I knew from the beginning they were always like this.
