Chapter 259 - Their anger

Anastasia.

Morning came, and I woke up quite early. It was around 6, I sat up and looked outside through the window to see a little bit of light peeking out.

I should go out for a walk. My mind is occupied with thoughts.

I pulled over the covers and tried to step out, but the pain in my leg reminded me that I wasn’t in perfect condition.

Do I need someone to help me move or something now?

For god's sake.

With the least strength I had, I stood up.

“Should you really go out in this condition?” My wolf called out.

I couldn’t help but smile.

This was the first time she spoke with me ever since I shifted on my 18th birthday. Except for last night when she recognized Nikolai as my mate.

“Yeah, I want to get some fresh air. I must go out.”

“You are so stubborn.”

“Like you?” I chuckled, managing to walk up to the door. “Still, I’m glad you are worried for me. You never really liked to talk, did you?”

She gave no reply going silent.

Even my wolf is just like me, unapproachable and rude like I was before.

I guess she’s not out of her shell yet.

Going out I closed the door behind me and saw Nikolai sitting on the floor, dozing off.

Why’s he out here? Don’t tell me he slept here all night.

He’s really….stubborn like me. You didn’t have to go through so much for me.

Should I wake him up? He won’t let me move around if I do that. And I’m still troubled about our relationship.

Let him sleep.

I walked downstairs, taking each step slowly.

Then suddenly heard the doorbell ring.

Who was here at this time?

Their parents? Were they supposed to come back today?

The doorbell kept ringing and I went to get the door.

And just as I thought, when I opened the door I was greeted by their parent's faces who looked quite angry.

They became even more enraged to see me.

“Uh, welcome–“

“Stop your all goody-good act!” The madam retorted, raising her palm. “We have already caught all your schemes. You can’t fool us!”

My world came crashing down upon hearing their statement.

“Did you think we wouldn’t realize anything at all?” the Alpha retorted, stepping inside.

I backed away in response.

“W-what are you saying? I don’t understand!”

“Stop pretending! I really hate it when you do that!” The Luna scoffed with a disgusted face. “Were you thinking you were going to take away all of my sons one by one with your charms? No! That dream of yours is never going to come true! As long as I live, I’m going to protect my sons!”

“I’m not trying to hurt them or take them away!” I pleaded. “Why are you talking like that with me?”

Are they angry seeing us together in the newspaper? That has to be it!

“You shut up! I’m going to make everything clear today!” Alpha yelled. “Where are our sons? Call them honey!”

“Sebastian! Nikolai! Leon! Come downstairs!” the Luna yelled, heading inside.

Why’s she calling everyone? I can sense something bad is heading our way.

In a few minutes, Leon came downstairs with Sebastian heading behind him.

Nikolai also came down all confused.

“What happened? Why all the yelling?” Nikolai asked.

“Mom, Dad, you are back so early?” Sebastian asked in a nervous tone.

“You are making noise pollution,” Leon grunted. “Tone it down a little.”

I was standing behind their parents that’s why they didn’t see me.

“You don’t need to advise us,” His dad retorted. “We called you here to discuss an important matter. That’s why we are back so early.”

“And what’s that important matter? May we know?” Nikolai asked.

“Come and stand in front of us!” His mom called, looking behind her.

I dragged my feet and came out of their shadows, standing in front of the three of them.

When they saw me, all of them gasped in shock.

“What are you doing out here with that leg of yours?” Nikolai asked in concern.

“You shouldn’t have stepped out of your room,” Leon fumed, folding his arms. “I’m really mad.”

“Why do you keep doing stupid things?” Sebastian yelled, “You were told to take a rest, right?”

I couldn’t answer any of their questions. The sheer pressure of their mom glaring at me made me unable to talk.

I couldn’t speak at all.

“Why do the three of you show such concern over a mere maid?” she comments, looking in their direction. “Why’s she so important to you?”

“You wouldn’t show such concern over other maids of the house, would you? What does she mean to you all? Only a servant?”

“Why do you want to know that?” Sebastian asked, which sounded like a mumble.

“Because you two are all over the news!” His mom yelled back. “Only because you took her to the engagement party without our permission. How could you do this to us? Weren’t you, our favorite? I didn’t expect this from you at all!”

As I thought.

“There’s no reason to act this way over such a simple matter,” Leon added. “We can sort this out calmly.”

“Don’t you dare talk in her favor!” Dad glared, pointing in his direction. “You are no different than Sebastian either. You also danced with her at his birthday party. Everyone outside our pack is thinking that she’s somehow connected with the three of you.”

Leon averted his gaze, looking pissed.

“I don’t find anything wrong with it,” Nikolai replied, maintaining eye contact with his parents. “What if she’s connected with us? What if we get along? What’s wrong with it?”

“Because she’s a murderer! A murderer who killed her own father. Which makes her an outcast, a rogue stripped of her rank and identity. Do you think your images are getting better when people see you hanging out with her? No! They are talking behind your back, making assumptions, and creating rumors. And I can’t stand that!”

“Just because of the rumor, you don’t like her being seen together with us?” Sebastian retorted, fisting his hands. “How does that even work? Her past can’t decide her fate, can it? And you don’t even know whether she did it in the first place. Stop accusing her!”

“You don’t get to tell me what I should or not!” his dad sneered. “I don’t want you three tarnishing the reputation we worked so hard to create. That’s why, I’ve taken up a decision with your mom.”
