~Celine~
~After Three Months~
“Oh no! Kendrick!” I yelled in frustration, staring at him in disbelief.
“What? Why are you yelling at him like that?” Betty answered with a frown on her face, moving closer to me and taking him from me.
“I just finished bathing and cleaning him up, only for him to poop and mess up his diapers again! The party had long started and I haven’t even shown my face because of him.” I muttered.
“Hey, you can’t tell him not to poop when he wants, okay? If it’s about you showing your face to the party, then go. I’ll clean him up and bring him down.” Betty responded, smiling widely at Kendrick.
She raised him in the air, still smiling widely at him, and he smiled back at her.
I heaved a sigh and nodded. “Are you sure? You shouldn’t miss the fun too. I can quickly clean him up.”
“Celine, I’m fine. I can take care of him. You should greet the guests. You're Luna, remember? Plus, I think Kendrick likes me more today.” She uttered, and Kendrick let out another wide smile.
“Fine. And don’t stay too long up here, okay? I bet the guest wants to say hi to him too.” I responded, heading to the door. I got out and turned to look at them again.
“Go. We are good!” Betty uttered with a chuckle. I nodded with a smile and hastily made my way down to the living room, which had turned into a beautiful party venue.
Betty and I spent days decorating the living room when Kilhan was away from the house.
He had yet to come back to the house, and even though he had an idea that we were planning a surprise party for him, he’d be surprised to see the extent of our plans.
Getting to the living room, someone switched off the lights, causing me to halt. “He’s here! He’s here! Everyone, hide!” They shouted as they whispered at the same time.
I pulled up my phone, put on its flash, and quickly hid behind the stairs. Everyone turned off all their lights, waiting for the perfect time to yell the exciting words.
Just then, we heard the door open. “Why is everywhere so dark?” We heard him ask at the door.
“Surprise!!” We all chorused, jumping out of our hiding spot. The lights came on and some people blew the party horn, making Kilhan burst into laughter.
“Happy birthday, Alpha Kilhan!” We chorused again, and he nodded, still smiling widely.
“Thank you all so much.” He uttered as he moved away from the door, into the living room. I walked up to him with my arms wide open.
“Happy birthday, my love,” I uttered, and he grabbed me and raised me from the floor, swirling me in the air.
“Haaa!” I screamed and broke into laughter. He let me down and embraced me tightly.
“Thank you so much, baby. I am shocked. This is a big party. And the guests?” He uttered as we hugged. Then, the music started playing.
I had just realized we were in the middle of the living room and everyone was watching us, causing me to hide my head on his chest.
“I already told you we were planning something, I had to spice things up even more,” I uttered with a chuckle.
“Well, you did spice things up. I love you, Celine.” He answered. I raised my head to look at him and he leaned closer to kiss me.
I felt so shy kissing him in front of everyone. And the noises they made made me even more uncomfortable.
“Okay! That’s enough. You all can’t keep staring at us throughout the night. Let’s party!” Kilhan announced and they all cheered happily, spreading throughout the living room.
“I should greet some guests, and you should do that too,” I said to him, and he nodded. We parted ways as I walked to the other side of the living room.
My gaze fell on Ethan, and I raised my brows in surprise. Yes, I invited him, but I got no response, and I thought he wasn’t going to show up. I guess I was wrong.
“Ethan. Thank you so much for coming.” I uttered, kissing his cheeks.
He let out a faint smile and looked at Kilhan. “You two look happy together. I’m happy for both of you.” He answered, and I smiled.
“Thank you so much, Ethan. How are you? How have you been?” I asked, and he shrugged with a chuckle.
“Fine. Fine. Moving on from you. Even though I thought I never would.” He answered, and I clenched my jaws and smiled uncomfortably.
“I am so sorry, Ethan.”
“No, you don’t have to apologize. It was supposed to happen. We are cool.” He responded, and I nodded slowly.
Just then, I looked up and I saw Charles walk in with about seven men. He first met with Kilhan and after they exchanged pleasantries, his men mounted next to him, following him everywhere he went.
Charles stood still, looking around. I knew he was looking for me.
“Excuse me, Ethan,” I said, walking away and towards Charles. “Charles!” I called happily, and he turned to look at me.
“Sister.” He called and embraced me tightly. “How are you?” He asked, and I giggled.
“I’m fine. I’m so happy you’re here.” I responded, and he nodded.
“Of course, I’ll be here. Anything for my sister.” He answered, pulling me closer and planting a kiss on my forehead.
“How have you been? You have always been asking about me and I’ve always been telling you. Tell me about you. What’s going on with you?” I asked as we both walked to where the food table was.
“You and I know that I am living a pretty boring life. Handling that dead man’s business is no joke. I fight the urge not to murder someone every goddamn day!” He answered tiredly.
“Argh! Sounds like you need some real fun. I mean, now that you’re the boss. No girl or boy?” I asked, picking a piece of cake and feeding him with it.
“Actually…” He took a long pause, staring at the delicacies in front of him. “There’s one.”
My face brightened and a huge smile lit up my face. “Who? Tell me?”
“Caesar. He’s a guard who wouldn’t stop bothering me. He likes me.”
“He does? Tell me more! Is he cute?”
“Yes, he is. He has very nice skin, his hair is so curly and shiny. He’s pretty taller than me, more muscular, and…”
“Oh my gosh! You like him too! You look so excited talking about him. Where is he? Did he come here with you?” I asked happily, looking around to see if I could find someone that matched his description.
“He isn’t here, Celine. He’s at home, watching the streets. He’s the only one I trust to handle it well when I’m not around.”
“Hmm. Right. So, are you two together already?”
“No, no. Not yet.”
“Why? He seems like a very cute person!”
“I know, I just…”
“Celine!” I heard Betty call, cutting Charles short.
“Hey,” I uttered with a grin. “Where is Kendrick?” I asked.
“Oh, you didn’t come to get him already?” She asked, and I furrowed my brows.
“What are you talking about?”
“After I finished cleaning him up, I put on his clothes and laid him on the bed. I went into the bathroom to freshen up too, and when I came out, he wasn’t on the bed anymore. I thought you sent someone to grab him.”
“No, I didn’t. I thought he was still with you!” At this moment, my whole body was beginning to vibrate in fear.
“Celine, calm down, okay? Maybe one of the pack members grabbed him. They play with him often, right?” Charles asked and we both nodded.
“Drex! Maybe Drex carried him already. Let me find Drex.” Betty uttered, making her way back to the stairs.
“We should find Drex down here too. Don’t worry, Celine. We’ll find him.”
We started looking for Drex and Kendrick in the crowd, trying so hard not to raise any suspicions. The last thing I wanted was to create a scene on Kilhan’s special day.
‘He’s somewhere in the house.’ I told myself.
After Charles and I swept the living room clean and still couldn’t find Drex or Kendrick, my fear escalated.
“Charles, can you please keep looking down here? Maybe outside this time. I’ll go up to check on Betty. Maybe she has found him.”
Charles agreed and we parted ways. I ran up the stairs and started calling out Betty’s name.
“Betty! Kendrick?! Drex?!” I called out, panting heavily. As I walked down the hallway, I kept looking everywhere, opening every room I came across, but I found nothing.
“Kendrick?!” I yelled in tears. I started having a very bad feeling about it. I just wanted to see my boy.
I got to another room and opened the door. I looked in and called their names. When I saw nothing and got no response, I leaned back out and shut the door.
And when I was about to continue my search, I felt two huge hands grab me from behind, hurting me badly.
“Ha…” I opened my mouth to shout but I felt a bag cover my head. I kept screaming but it was so inaudible. I could hardly hear myself scream.
I struggled but it felt like nothing because I couldn’t move at all. My breathing grew more intense, and I began to feel like there wasn’t enough air for me to breathe.
I started wheezing and hyperventilating and before I knew it, the darkness grew even darker as I felt my eyes close.
