~Alpha Kilhan~
“Alpha Kilhan!” I heard someone call my name from outside the door, causing me to look in its direction.
“Who is there?”
“It’s Drex. Your mother wants to see you and it’s pretty urgent. Told her you are trying to rest, but she insisted.”
“Argh.” I groaned, heaving a sigh. “I’ll join her soon. Thank you.” I dragged myself out of the bed and sat up, letting out another tired sigh.
I have been so busy with business these past few days that I hardly have time for myself, and to my greatest surprise, Celine seems to be cool with that.
Right now, I believe she cares about Kendrick and her friendship with Betty more than us. I was happy everything was peaceful but I really miss her. Actually, I miss her every day.
The very next minute she leaves my side, I’m missing her already.
Feeling like a young man in love, I walked to my closet to get a casual outfit. I picked a green shirt and a pair of jeans, put them on, and headed out to see my mother.
Walking down the hallway, everyone was busy doing whatever they were doing. I walked past Betty’s room and just like I had suspected, Celine was there.
Her door was slightly open and I saw both of them lying on the bed, scrolling through her phone.
I breathed out softly and walked past the room to my mother’s. Meeting them would come later.
I finally got to my mother’s room and walked in to see her sitting on the bed. Her back was against the headboard and she was staring at me as I walked in.
“Mother, you asked for me,” I uttered tiredly as I settled on the bed next to her.
“Yes. Were you sleeping? You look tired.”
“I was about to sleep when I heard Drex call me. But it’s okay, I’ll just go back to sleep after we finish talking.” I responded, and she nodded slowly.
“I had a dream.” She uttered, causing me to crease my brows.
“A dream?” I muttered, unsure of what I was feeling. My mother rarely had dreams, and when she does have them, they are not always good ones.
Before my father died, she had a dream that he was in great trouble and she was trying so hard to help him out, but she couldn’t. At first, she thought it was about his business, but she later found out it was about his life.
“Yes, Kilhan. A dream. And I don’t like it.”
“You never like your dreams, mother. No one ever likes your dream. Tell me what you saw.” I answered, and she nodded.
“I saw you were in a pit. It was a very large pit and it was raining heavily. I was on top of the pit, trying to get you out. I called out to you so many times but it was as if you weren’t hearing my call at all. I was so scared and kept trying to save you from drowning, but I couldn’t until I woke up.”
Listening to her, I heaved a loud sigh. “What does that even mean? That I am going to get into trouble soon?” I asked, and she shook her head.
“I am not sure, Kilhan, but it is not a good one, that’s for sure. I need you to be very careful. Keep your eyes out, okay? I can’t lose you too.”
“You won’t lose me, Mother. I promise I’ll be careful. And you should be careful too, okay? How are you feeling today?” I asked, reaching for her hand and holding it.
“I was fine until I had that terrifying dream. I cried back to reality. I hate seeing you in trouble.”
“It’s not going to happen, okay?? We’ll be more careful.”
“Please be.” She uttered, before leaning closer to hug me. After we embraced, I stood up from the bed and helped her lay down again.
“You should rest now, Mother,” I said to her, and she nodded, pulling the duvet up to her chest.
She shut her eyes and I planted a kiss on her head before heading out of the room. While I walked down the hallway, I began to think deeply about the dream she had.
I was trying to figure out where such a terrible incident could slip in from, but nothing was coming. When I got to Betty’s door, it was now closed.
I knocked on it and waited for any of them to answer. The door opened and Celine showed her face.
“Hey, baby.” She said with a wide grin.
“Heyyy. Can we talk?? In private?” I asked, causing her grin to slowly fade away.
“Sure. Betty, can you give me a minute? I’ll be back soon.” She said, stepping out of the room and shutting the door behind her.
She held my hand as we both took slow strides down the hallway. “What’s going on, baby?” She asked, looking at my face.
“I just finished talking to my mother. She told me she had a terrible dream.”
“Really? What did she see?” She asked, paying rapt attention to me.
“She saw me in a large, deep pit when it was raining. She tried reaching out to me, did everything she could but couldn’t save me until she woke up.” I explained.
“Oh my… that sounds terrible,” Celine answered fearfully.
“I know. She had a dream like that a few weeks before my father was murdered.”
“What?” She asked in shock, and I gulped hard.
“I know how that sounds, but it’s not going to happen, okay? My father didn’t regard her dream and maybe that’s why he died. If he had taken it seriously, maybe he would still be alive.”
“You can’t be sure, Kilhan. It’s all ‘maybe’. We need to be very careful. I can’t lose you, Kendrick can’t lose you, the pack can’t lose you.”
“And you won’t,” I answered, cupping her face in my hands. “You won’t lose me, my love. I’ll never let that happen. We just have to be careful and stay out of trouble.” I assured her, and she nodded slowly.
She stared into space for a few seconds before looking at my face again. “We are planning a surprise birthday party for you, Kilhan.” She uttered, and I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
“Really?” I asked, and she nodded.
“Yes. I know it’s a surprise and I shouldn’t have said anything, but after hearing this, I’m scared. I don’t want anything to go wrong. For your birthday, we need extra security. We need men to keep an eye out for you here. I can talk to my brother about it, and…”
“Celine, I don’t want to bother your brother with this. What do you think would go on in his mind after hearing I’m shitting my pants because of my mother’s dream?”
“Kilhan, asking for help doesn’t hurt, okay? Moreover, your men and guards would be busy with one or two that day. I’ll call Charles right now, okay?” She insisted, and I breathed out deeply and nodded.
I watched her reach for her phone and put a call across to Charles.
“Hey, brother.” She uttered, putting her phone on speaker.
“Celine, how are you? Are you alright?” He responded.
“Yes, yes. I’m fine, thank you. And how are you, Charles?”
“I’m very well, thank you. What’s up?”
“Ermmm, I want to ask you something.” She uttered, raising her head to look at me.
“What’s that?”
“Have you noticed anything strange since you started watching?” She asked, and I furrowed my brows in confusion.
‘Watching? What is she talking about?’ I wondered, still keeping my mouth shut.
“No, nothing yet. Why? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I just wanted to make sure. Charles, I’ll be needing your help at Kilhan’s birthday party. I need some men to keep an eye on him. You know, just to be safe.”
“To keep an eye on Kilhan? Why are we watching him and not you and your son?”
“Please don’t ask questions, Charles. Can you do this for me?” She asked, looking at me again.
“Yes. Of course. I’ll do anything for you. Just make sure you’re safe.”
“I promise. Thank you, Charles. I’ll hang up now.”
“Celine?”
“Yes?” She answered, and he went quiet for a moment.
“I’ll just share it with you when we see. Bye for now.” He answered and hung up before she could respond.
She heaved a sigh and looked at me. “It’s going to be okay. I promise.” She uttered and embraced me tightly.
I embraced her too, planting a kiss on her head. “I believe so,” I answered, thinking about her conversation with Charles again.
‘What is he watching? And why?’
