“Hey, baby, wake up. We are here.” I heard Alpha Kilhan’s voice from afar, causing me to groan in frustration.
I was having the best nap of my life and he decided to ruin it.
“C’mon, Jessica. You can continue sleeping inside, okay? I bet your neck hurts from sleeping here.” He added, unbuckling the seat belt that held me to the chair.
“Hmm… fine,” I responded, finally opening my eyes. His face was very close to mine, and he kept smiling sweetly at me.
“Welcome back.” He teased, causing me to roll my eyes and playfully push him away.
I smiled softly as I raised my head to look at his mansion. I lifted my eyebrows as I was completely mesmerized by the beauty of his house.
It wasn’t only big, but painted in white. The window and door frame were coated in gold glitter. I knew I shouldn’t expect something less.
Before I could get out of the car, I saw some men, about six of them, rush out of the large door of the house, taking long strides towards us.
“What’s happening?” I asked in confusion, turning to look at Alpha Kilhan who seemed to be enjoying the view.
“They are here to welcome you, of course. Those are my pack members.” He answered, and immediately, the door was opened by one of them.
They all lined up next to the car and lowered their heads as I stepped out. The man closest to the door offered me his hand so I could step out comfortably.
All these weren’t new to me, but I couldn’t help but wonder why they were necessary. Especially to me.
Giving him my hand, I stepped out of the car. Their heads bowed as Kilhan approached me.
“Let’s go inside. I’ll introduce them to you when you’re settled.”
He reached for my hand and held onto it as we walked to the large, main door. Getting to the large door, the door gave way and we walked in.
And just as I suspected, I was blown away by the interior design of the house. It’s inside seemed way bigger than it’s outside.
While admiring the wide living room and its insanely beautiful big chandelier, the pack members gathered in front of us again.
“Welcome once again, Miss Jessica.” They greeted me in harmony, and I slightly bowed, letting out a smile.
“Thank you,” I answered and turned to look at Alpha Kilhan.
“So, I’ll start the introduction. This…” he pointed to the young, good-looking man who offered me his hand at the car door. “This is Drex, and he’s one of my Betas.”
After Alpha Kilhan introduced him, he stretched out his hand again. “It’s nice to finally meet you. Alpha Kilhan wouldn’t stop singing praises of you.” He uttered as we both shook hands.
I chuckled and lowered my head shyly. “It’s nice to meet you too, Drex. Thank you for the warm welcome.” I responded.
Instantly, I loved his energy. He seemed like a sweet man.
“And behind him is Betty, my second Beta. I still don’t know why she decided to hide behind him.” Alpha Kilhan uttered with a chuckle.
She stepped out from behind Drex with a large grin on her face.
“Nice to meet you.” She said as she approached me, and to my greatest surprise, she planted kisses on my cheeks. I wasn’t expecting that.
“Nice to meet you too,” I answered, smiling equally. I loved her too! She seemed like a very nice lady, and she was also very beautiful.
“And these are Nelson, Benjamin, and Oliver.” Alpha Kilhan added, walking past them as he spoke. “They are the Gammas.”
“And Thomas, Leo, and Lucas. The omegas. Regardless of their position in the pack, everyone is treated with love and respect.” Alpha Kilhan added, and I nodded, shaking hands with all of them.
After greeting them, I moved back to where Alpha Kilhan stood and stood next to him. I looked at each of their faces, and they all seemed to be excited about my presence.
It felt strange. In my father’s house, the pack members don’t even get to smile this much. Though I was part of his pack, I could hardly relate to any of them.
“Miss Jessica, there will be a party tonight to welcome you officially. I hope you don’t mind.” Drex uttered, and I raised my brows in awe.
“Really?” I asked, turning to look at Alpha Kilhan, and he nodded.
“It will be so much fun. My mother should have been discharged before then too.” Alpha Kilhan added, and I nodded excitedly.
“I don’t mind at all.” She answered, and they all nodded.
“I’ll prepare you. Let’s go to your room.” Betty uttered, holding onto my arm as she pulled me away from where the men were.
I looked at Alpha Kilhan, and he waved at me as Betty kept pulling me away.
“It feels so good to finally have a lady I can talk to in this house. Being the only lady in this house used to wear me out sometimes.” Betty uttered, and I looked at her.
“Really? You’re the only lady in the house? No maids? Or other workers?” I inquired, and she shook her head.
“No. We do most of the work around here ourselves. We are one disciplined pack. We are eight in number, that’s enough people to cook and clean.” She answered, and I nodded slowly, paying rapt attention.
“Alpha Kilhan made that rule?” I asked, still finding it hard to believe. Maybe it was because of the kind of home I was brought up in.
Regardless of the number of people in the pack, Rich Alphas would always have people working for them. Alpha Kilhan is truly unique.
“No, not Alpha Kilhan. It has always been like that since his father was the Alpha.” She answered.
“His father?” I asked as I realized he had never mentioned him to me before.
“Yes. He hasn’t told you about him before?” She asked, looking at my curious face. I shook my head, hoping she was going to tell me more.
She smiled faintly and looked away. “Well, you two just met. There are many things you don’t know about him. I’ve been his best friend since he was a boy.” She responded, grabbing the doorknob in front of us and opening the door.
“There you go.” She said, stepping aside so I could walk in.
Just like every other part of the house, the room was chic and clean, but I could hardly pay attention to the details. Not when she already mentioned something that caught my interest.
“So… his father. Where is he now?” I asked, walking around the room, trying not to show how curious I was.
“I don’t think I should say anything about his father. You should hear it from him. And please, don’t ask him about it. At least, not today. You don’t want to ruin tonight’s party.” She answered, and I looked at her, nodding slowly.
I really wanted to stop thinking about it, but I couldn’t. Betty made it seem like talking about his father was pretty sensitive.
‘What if it is? Maybe he has a horrible father like mine and has refused to say anything about him, just like me!’ I thought as she kept talking, showing me the closet filled with clothes, shoes, bags, and even the bathroom which was stocked with lots of skincare products.
I just kept smiling and nodding, pretending to listen to her, but my mind wasn’t in the room anymore. I wanted to know about Alpha Kilhan’s father.
“And there is the large television as you can see,” Betty uttered with a chuckle as she turned on the television.
“Thank you, Betty,” I responded.
“If you need anything. Just let me know. Even if it’s you having a hard time picking a dress for tonight, you can call me. I’ll help out.”
“Okay,” I answered, nodding. She headed to the door, and I stood at the center of the room as I watched her leave.
“Ermm, one tip to help you pick a dress.” She uttered as soon as she got to the door. She turned to look at me and said, “Kilhan’s best color is white. I’d advise you to put on a white dress.” She added, and I nodded, letting out a smile.
“Alright. Thank you.” I answered as she finally stepped out of the room.
Shutting the door behind her, I let out a deep sigh and sat on the bed.
“I don’t like her at all,” Kiara said in disgust.
“Kiara, please. She’s a nice person.” I answered, lying on the bed. I spread my arms out and stared blankly at the white ceiling.
“I didn’t say she isn’t. I just don’t see the point of her telling you that you don’t know many things about him. And then she called him by name!”
“Kiara, they are best friends. It’s normal. Don’t make it an issue.”
“I’d advise you to stay away from her. She doesn’t seem like a good friend to me.” Kiara insisted.
“I see no reason why I should listen to you. You got me marked by Alpha Kilhan when I didn’t want to!”
“But you enjoyed the night, didn’t you?!”
“Oh please, shut up.”
I rolled my eyes as I sat up on the bed again. I stared at the television, watching what they were airing. It happened to be a reality show.
“I hate reality shows,” I mumbled, picking up the remote on the bedside table so I could check other channels.
I began to change and change when all of a sudden I passed a news channel and something caught my attention.
I went back to check, and my eyes widened when I saw what the headline was.
“A thirty-year-old man from New Orleans is missing.”
Under the headline was the picture of the driver that drove me to New York City.
In terror, I pressed the volume button, increasing the volume so I could hear what they were saying.
“His wife, Mrs Brown has cried out to the police, and feedback was received that Mr. Brown was last seen in New York City. A thorough investigation is ongoing into his disappearance, and the police will fill us in as time passes.”
“Father,” I muttered on the verge of tears as I stared at Mr Brown’s face on the screen.
‘If he hadn’t helped me, I bet he'd still be alive. My father did this! I know it.’
“Hey.” I heard someone say from behind me, and I turned to look back. It happened to be Alpha Kilhan.
“Hey,” I answered, gulping hard as I tried to push back the tears in my eyes.
“Another sad news from New Orleans.” He uttered, and I turned to look at him again.
“You get that a lot?”
“Yes. The man who rules New Orleans is a devil. Alphas like him shouldn’t be spared. I never want to have anything to do with Alpha like him” He responded, picking up the remote and switching off the television.
He was right.
‘My father is a devil and deserves to die!’ But who dares to kill him? No one. He is unstoppable.
“You shouldn’t watch that. It’s none of our business, okay? You’re here with me now, and that’s all that matters in the world.” He uttered, sitting next to me and looking into my eyes.
I forced on a smile and slightly bobbed.
‘If only you knew I am his daughter.’
