~Celine~
After successfully admitting Xavier to the nearest hospital, I rushed back to my apartment, still thinking about what he said.
‘How could he do that to him?! To me?! He made himself clear last night! Why did he have to do this?
‘That is why he was nowhere to be found when I woke up!’
Getting into my apartment, I began to pack my clothes again. This time, it was to run away from Alpha Kilhan as fast as I could.
“I knew I should never have trusted him! I knew he was just like the other horrible Alphas! I will never go with him! I hate him!” I yelled in guilt for Mr. Norway’s life.
Because of me, their family was destroyed. I just wanted a normal life!
‘Why would the Moon Goddess give me an Alpha mate after what happened to my mother? If this isn’t cruelty, I don’t know what is!’
I filled two large boxes with my clothes and other important amenities. I emptied my money-safe box and put it in my backpack.
“He will never see me again. He will regret doing this.” I muttered as I headed to my door.
Opening my door, I found Alpha Kilhan standing right there. A wide smile lit up his face as soon as he saw me.
“Hey… how did you know I was back??” He asked, looking at the bags in my hand.
“Get out of the way,” I uttered in anger, causing him to crease his brows.
“What? Jessica, what’s going on?” He asked, moving closer.
Dropping one of the bags, I threw a slap at his face as I couldn’t contain my rage anymore.
“Leave the f**king way!” I yelled in tears, as I watched his clench his jaws in surprise.
“No, I am not going to!” He barked. I could see how hard he was fighting the urge to lay his hands on me after I smacked his face that hard.
“You’re evil! All Alphas are evil! I should have fled from you the moment I got the chance! I hate you!” I yelled as I broke into more tears.
“What the hell are you talking about Jessica?! Didn’t you see the note? I left you a note. I would never disappear from you. I love you, Jessica. I’ll never hurt you.” He answered, stretching out his hand to touch me, but I smacked it off.
“I’m never going home with you. I’ve made my decision. I’m leaving, and don’t you dare follow me!”
I pushed him off the doorstep with my body weight, pulling my bags out tears still rolling down my eyes.
And just when I thought he had given up, he swiftly moved to my front, bent down, and swept me off my feet, making my bags fall out of my hands.
“Alpha Kilhan! Put me down!” I yelled as he hung me on his shoulder, carrying me back into my apartment.
“Let me go, Kilhan!” I grunted, struggling in his arms, but he gripped me firmly to himself, making it impossible for me to escape.
He threw me on the bed and knelt on top of me.
“Get the f**k away from me!” I cried, hitting his chest as hard as I could.
He pinned me between his legs with his knees and began to unbuckle his belt.
My eyes widened in terror as I watched him. “Now you want to sexually assault me, right?! Oh, goddess. I hate you! I hate you!” I cried, throwing my head backward weakly.
I grew tired every passing minute from struggling to free myself from him.
He pulled his belt off his waist and grabbed my hands. With a frown on his face, he tied my arms tightly with his belt, ignoring my screaming and ranting.
He let go of my hands after they were successfully tied and pulled me to sit up and rest my back on the bed’s backrest.
“Stop!” I yelled, and he finally let go of me.
“You’re so stubborn, Jessica.” He uttered in a soft voice, even though deep down, he was boiling in anger.
“And you are a monster!” I yelled back. Sweat kept oozing out of my pores, and I felt my scattered hair glue to my face as I kept struggling. He refused to move away from me.
“Can you please tell me what I did to deserve these harsh words from you, baby? Last night was perfect, and…”
“And then you lied to me! You told me you were going back to New York City, but then you went to Mr Norway’s shop to cause chaos!”
He furrowed his brows, looking super confused but I remained angry. I knew he was just putting up an act. I would never forgive him.
“Who the hell is Mr Norway?!”
“Oh please! Stop acting like you have no idea what I’m talking about!”
“Baby, I don’t, okay? Can you please just make me understand why you hate me so much right now?” He answered weakly and in frustration.
“Xavier! You went after Xavier! You killed his father in such a brutal way! Vandalized the shop his family had worked so hard for! Do you know the horrible state his mum is in right now? She lost her husband and her son is now in the hospital! I thought you were different…”
“Jessica, I have no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t even know his father, or where the shop is! I went back to New York City, Baby. I told you!”
“Yeah! Of course, you did! Just let me go! I’m never following you there!” I yelled as I began to struggle again.
With clenched jaws, he pulled out his phone and began to scroll through it.
“What are you doing? Let me go!”
“Look! Here! I got a call that my mother collapsed very early this morning, so I had to rush down to see her! I should be with her right now, but I came back to pick you up.” He uttered, showing me the picture of an elderly woman, lying on a hospital bed.
“Check the date and time if you don’t believe me.” He added, clicking on the picture information, and I saw he was truly there.
There was also a picture of him together with his mother, in the same outfit from yesterday.
I let out a deep breath and looked at him. “You must have sent your men…”
“I did not do that, Jessica. I would never be so mean to do something like that. Fine, I was so mad at him yesterday but you told me to ignore him which I did. I don’t even know his shop or his father.” He explained while I stared at him blankly.
Now, I felt stupid and confused at the same time. ‘Xavier said my mate. If he wasn’t there, why would he mention that?’ I thought, unsure of what to believe anymore.
“You still don't believe me, right? Fine.” He uttered and began to scroll through his phone again.
He put a call to someone and put it on speaker, showing me who he was calling. It happened to be someone named Drex.
Drex picked up almost immediately and Alpha Kilhan began to speak;
“Drex, is my mother awake? I need to speak to her.” He uttered.
“Sure. Ma’am, Alpha Kilhan wants to speak with you.” I heard Drex say from the other end.
“Hello, mother. How are you feeling now?”
“Kilhan, I’m doing well now. Have you gotten your girl? When are you coming back, I can’t wait to meet her. Bring her to the hospital first, okay? I’d love to say hello to her.” A woman, I presumed to be his mother answered in a low, weak tone.
“Okay, mother. Be fine for me, okay, I’ll be back soon. I’m sorry I left.”
“Don’t be! Your mate is equally important.”
“I’ll hang up now,” Kilhan replied, cutting off the call.
“Are you convinced now or do you want me to show you more proof? I love you, Jessica. So very much. I know you care for Xavier. I would never do that.”
At this point, my anger reduced drastically. I believed him, but I was confused.
“But Xavier mentioned you.”
“Me? Is he crazy? Did he say I did it?” He asked in awe.
“Not directly. He just… I didn’t get what he said well.” I responded, feeling very stupid.
“Jessica, baby, C’mon. He must have meant something else.” He heaved a sigh as he untied my hands. He stared at my reddened wrist sadly and rubbed it softly.
“I’m sorry.” He muttered, planting a kiss on the marks his belt had created on my hands.
“I… I’m sorry I slapped you too. I was so mad that you killed Mr. Norway.”
“I didn’t. But I understand your rage. Next time, please don’t do that, okay? I don’t want to ever lose my temper with you. I don’t want to hurt you, but I have a pretty aggressive wolf, and sometimes, I can’t help it. You should help me subdue him, not provoke him, okay?” He uttered calmly, pulling me closer to him and embracing me.
“But who would do that to them?” I questioned as I embraced him too.
“They do have enemies too, Jessica. And this is also a reason why I can’t leave you here again. What if you were there when they attacked and they hurt you? Goddess knows I’ll burn down the whole of Beacon City if that happens. Please come home with me, my mother is waiting.”
He disengaged from the hug and looked into my eyes.
“But Xavier is still in the hospital. I need to check on him.”
“No, you don’t. I’ll send some people to check on him, okay? Please, Jessica. I need to take you home tonight. Trust me, okay? I’ll make sure Xavier gets better.” He assured me.
I gulped hard and nodded slowly. I got it all wrong, the least I could do was to go and see his sick mother.
“Okay. I’ll go with you.” I answered, and he let out a wide smile.
“My car is outside, waiting to receive you.”
‘But what did Xavier mean by my mate?’ This question couldn’t stop taunting me.
