Chapter 6 Pack Meeting.
Chapter 6 Pack Meeting.
Bella’s pov.
“You- you!” Garrett stuttered furiously, pointing a finger in John's face.
“You’re no longer my alpha,” John said, looking directly into Garrett’s eyes like an unspoken challenge.
Garrett started laughing uncontrollably, looking at John in amusement.
“I’m no longer your alpha?” He said, smiling evilly at me, “like hell I’m not the alpha. And this here,” he gestures towards the woman and boy beside him, “are my new Luna and heir to the pack.”
I felt my body stiffen, trying so hard to hood my shift back.
“Daddy?” The small, frightened voice of my daughter whispered from behind me, making my entire body stiffen as I turned around.
“Megan!” I said while running towards her, “please, just go back to your room, John will go with you, okay?”
I ran a hand down the side of her face, pleading with the goddess that she'd listen to me.
“Okay,” she whispered again, looking towards her father one more time before John took her hand, leading her back to our room.
I turned around slowly, facing Garrett with a murderous look on my face.
“You need to leave,” I said calmly, “you, your mistress and illegitimate son, all of you, leave.”
Garrett laughs again, darkly this time.
He takes calculated steps towards me.
“Oh, Bella. You have the nerve to demand things from me? You think you can take my title away? You think you can escape me?” He growled out, whispering the last part.
I didn’t back down, I held my head high with my feet rooted to the ground.
Even if my body was trying to betray me.
“I didn’t have to do anything, you did it to yourself, Garret, now get out of my house!” I yelled in his face, my spittle flying everywhere from the anger I felt.
“You can’t do this!” He yelled back, taking steps away from me with a look of panic on his face now, realizing I’m not the same girl I was when we first met, “I’ll talk to the elders! Surely they’ll be happier to know I have a better Luna and a male heir, not that- that… girl.”
Tundra came to the surface at his words, my eyes glowing violently at the mention of our pup.
“You dare speak of my pup that way?” Tundra growled as she took over my body, “you’d do better at watching that mouth… I wouldn’t want to take those vocal cords out…”
Garrett’s eyes widened impossibly large, basically shaking in fear.
“Your- your… wolf!” He stuttered, looking around at his mistress and son, seeing the equal shock and fear on their faces.
He went to say something else but Tundra spoke first.
“Get out!” She boomed again before retreating to the back of my mind, growling softly as I took back control.
“You’ll regret this,” he seethed before grabbing his mistress’s arm and leaving the pack house.
Looking back at me while a venomous glare one last time before they were gone.
As soon as he was out of vision I took a big gasp of breath, sliding down to the floor against the wall.
I placed my head in my hands, desperately searching for answers on what to do.
“Bella?” I heard John say as he came back out into the hall, startling me out of the haze I was falling into.
“I’m fine, I'm fine,” I muttered, running a hand down my face, trying to calm my nerves, “seeing him- seeing them together… like a happy family just- broke something inside of me.”
“I know…” John whispered as he kneeled down beside me, “I know, but it’ll be okay.”
He placed his hand on my shoulder, giving it a light squeeze.
I turned my head up, looking into John’s piercing green eyes.
Something inside of me flutters from the look he is giving me, and it feels wonderful.
The way I’ve felt lately… makes me want to latch onto those feelings…
“Thank you,” I said softly, getting up from the ground, “where’s Megan, how is she doing?”
We walked into my room while talking to each other.
Distracting myself from the conversation we just had with Garret.
“She’s… okay. She cried for a bit and asked me to leave her alone, so I did,” he said with a grimace, looking away from me as he scratched the back of his head, “I don’t have much experience with kids…”
I sighed heavily, walking into Megan’s room, seeing her curled into her bed.
I heard soft sobs coming from her small body, making my heart constrict in my chest.
“Megan, honey?” I said quietly, sliding into her bed beside her, “what’s wrong?”
“Who was daddy with?” She asked, tears coming from her eyes, “why did he have a lady and a little boy with him?”
I sucked in a sharp inhale of breath, not knowing how I could possibly explain that to her.
“Sweetheart… they were just your dads friends, don’t worry about it, okay?” I lied to her, not having the heart to tell her the truth.
“Really?” She sniffled, looking at me with hope filled eyes.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded my head with a small smile.
“Yes, really,” I whispered, my heart crumbling more.
“Okay, can Martha come here today?” She asked, a little smile lighting up on her face as she asked for her.
“Of course, I’ll be calling her here now… mommy has a few things to take care of today,” I said, running a hand down her hair.
She sighed softly, the cutest little sigh ever.
Warming my heart slightly, even if it’s broken completely.
“Okay, mommy,” she said while getting out of her bed and running out to the living room.
I watched her go, so many emotions going through me.
One being anxious, anxious because when will she find out the truth?
I quickly mindlinked Martha, shaking those thoughts away.
‘Can you come watch Megan, please?’ I said down the link.
‘Of course, Luna,’ she responded instantly.
I shut the link down, getting up from Megan’s bed and going out to the living room to see what she got into.
As I walked through her door I saw her sitting down on the floor, John seated next to her with all of her drawings and paintings in front of her.
She had the biggest smile on her face as she showed him everything she’s drawn.
John sat beside her patiently, nodding his head as she showed him.
A smile took over my face at the sight of them, more butterflies tingling inside of my belly.
“John,” I called out softly, “can I speak to you for a minute?”
He looked up at the sound of my voice, a big smile on his face.
“Of course, Luna. What do you need?” He asked while walking towards me.
“I’m going to need your help setting up a pack meeting… We need to tell them about Garrett. It’s not going to be good.”
