Chapter 7: Don’t Worry.

Bella’s pov.

I stepped up onto the stage with a calm smile.

Looking around at all of my pack members, whispering and huddling around.

I cleared my throat before I boomed out, “enough! I’ve summoned you all here for a reason. A very important reason.”

Everyone quieted down with only a few quiet whispers among the pack.

John walked onto the stage silently, standing behind me in support.

A silent understanding going between us.

“Your alpha, Garret, has betrayed us all. He drugged me and cheated on our bond… he has a mistress… somebody you all know. Yes, his first love, Rose,” I said loudly enough everyone could hear me, feeling strong enough to speak out loud about this with all of my members behind me.

Gasps rang out from the crowd. People whispering harshly at what they’ve heard.

“Not only did he betray the mate bond but he had a son with her, an illegitimate child!” I finished, angry for the life I now live, for the pack members who will remember what their alpha did.

“He had a son! How old is the child!” Somebody yelled from the back of the pack. I strained my eyes to see and noticed it was an older pack member, Sandra, an omega who worked in the kitchen.

I took a deep breath and placed a smile on my face, needing to stay calm to finish this meeting, “six years old.”

Even more gasps rang out along with angry shouts from almost every pack member.

“He had a son not even a year after you were announced, Luna!” One of the warriors named Lilic yelled, her anger evident on her face.

“Yes,” I said calmly, keeping my composure, “he did, and he plans on bringing them both here, to announce them the new Luna and heir!”

Every single face I looked at turned into pure rage, the words I said not settling well with anyone.

“How can we stop him, Luna!” A young omega said scared, grabbing onto her parents hands.

“Don’t worry,” I replied with a reassuring smile, knowing I need to handle this myself, none of the pack deserves to be involved in this,  “I’m working with the elders to denounce his title… and I will take over as alpha. You all don’t need to worry, you won’t be getting involved with anything, you’ll be safe.”

Whispers rang out, people questioning if I’d be able to do that.

“It’s true,” elder Elian spoke out, walking onto the stage beside me, “he’s done the ultimate betrayal. The mate bond is sacred, one of a kind. The goddess would be ashamed of our alpha. He will be stripped of any ties he has here and Bella will be named the alpha.”

I felt eyes on me and looked towards the back of the crowd, noticing elder Mildred looking at me with rage filled eyes.

An unsettling feeling made its way to my stomach, leaving me to wonder why she hated me so much.

She looked away and left the pack hall, leaving the rest of the pack to whisper and gossip about what’s happening. Along with my mind spiraling with the possibilities of her stopping me from becoming the alpha.

“Please, quiet down!” I shouted, hopeful the pack would listen when they saw the look in my eyes.

Heads snapped in my direction, everyone’s voices dying down.

“Don’t worry. Right now, right here we will be denouncing his title! Even if it takes days, weeks or months. I won’t stop until he’s got nothing left here!” I yelled out, locking eyes with some of the pack members. A promise in them.

“Like hell you’ll be doing that!” I heard Garrett growl from the back of the hall.

His voice echoed towards me.

Gasps rang out all over, people scattering trying to get away from him.

“You think… you can take my title from me?” He said as he stalked towards me, Rose and their son standing at the back, holding onto each other tightly.

I keep my head lifted high, and my shoulders squared.

“Do you think that you can take my title from me?” I said angrily, using his own words against him, “replace me with your mistress and illegitimate son? The pack already knows what you’ve done. We’ve all agreed to denounce your ties to this pack.”

I looked at him calmly, not letting any of my emotions show.

Garret goes to take a step even closer to me when John steps up, putting his hand out.

“Stay away from her, Garret,” he said through clenched teeth, his anger radiating off of his body.

Garret clenched his fists, grinding his teeth as he glared at John.

“You’ll regret this! All of you!” He screamed crazily, looking around at the frantic faces of my pack members, “this is my pack! I built this place from the ground up! You can’t get rid of me!”

Grunting to himself he turned and walked out of the hall quickly, grabbing Rose’s arm and dragging her out with him.

I let out the breath I didn’t realize I was holding, looking back at John.

“He’s gone now,” John said quietly, brushing his hand against my arm.

“Yeah,” I whispered, “for now…”

Whispers started among the pack, loud, angry whispers and yells.

“Quiet down, please!” I said loudly, getting their attention once again, “Garrett is gone and I’ll make sure to keep it that way! You have nothing to fear.”

“How can we be sure of that!?” An older pack member yelled, “he walked into here pretty easily… doesn’t seem like it’s difficult for him!”

I gritted my teeth while clenching my hands into fists, “I said you have nothing to fear. From here on out, I will do everything I can do to keep him far away from this pack!”

Small smiles take over the faces of the pack members, feeling the truth from my aura.

“Alpha Bella! Alpha Bella!” An omega named Bentley started chanting, all the other pack members following his lead.

Besides a few older elders standing at the back…

I giggled with a stupid smile on my face, loving every one of my pack members. Not caring what the elders think as long as I have elder Elian on my side.

“Alpha?” A young girl said quietly as she walked towards me.

I crouched down to her level, giving her my best smile.

“What can I do for you, sweetheart?” I asked her.

“Would you help me make friends with your daughter?” She asked shyly, giving me her best sad eyes.

I laughed with amusement at her question.

As if she had to ask to be friends with Megan.

“Of course, hunny, you don’t need to ask!” I said while pinching her cheeks.

“Well… Megan keeps to herself, she doesn’t like playing with me or any of the other kids,” she pouted, looking towards the crowd where her mother is looking for her.

“I’ll talk to her, now go, your mother is looking for you,” I whispered while pushing her gently in her mothers direction.

“What has gotten into you, Megan?” I whispered to myself, Tundra stirring restlessly in my soul.
