Chapter 65
Third Person
Aziz welcomed Reeves with a friendly embrace as he returned from his visit to the Lunar Pack. Reeves had just arrived, and Aziz was keen to catch up on their progress and what had transpired during his absence.
"Alpha," Reeves greeted respectfully. "What can you tell me about Athena?" he inquired.
Aziz replied, "Athena hasn't returned yet, but she's expected back soon. She reached out to inform me that everything is proceeding smoothly on her end. She simply needs a bit more time and some refining, if you get what I mean," he added with a knowing look, and Reeves nodded in understanding. "Now, please, share the details of their training with me."
Taking a seat, Reeves began to recount the training sessions he had conducted with the Lunar Pack's warriors and fighters. "Alpha Dom was actively involved, showing a genuine commitment to forming an alliance with our pack," Reeves reported, and Aziz nodded in approval.
"Hera seems to have been keeping to herself lately, possibly preoccupied with her own thoughts," Aziz observed.
Reeves concurred, saying, "I noticed the same with Alpha Dom. While he was fully engaged during our training sessions, he often appeared pensive in his office or when we were together. I contemplated discussing it with him, particularly regarding his relationship with Hera, but I refrained. As an alpha, he is best equipped to determine what's in the pack's best interest."
"It's conceivable that his concerns are related to Hera, especially given recent vampire sightings along our pack's borders. He's likely anxious about her safety while he's occupied protecting the pack," Aziz added thoughtfully.
"That could indeed be a compelling reason for them to communicate openly. We both recognize that Hera possesses unique abilities, but it isn't our place to disclose this information to Alpha Dom," Reeves commented, and Aziz nodded in agreement. It was a sensitive matter that required Hera's discretion.
"Why concern yourself with their affairs when you have your own matters to address with your mate?" Aziz inquired curiously, and Beta Reeves scratched his head thoughtfully.
"Well, at least I'm certain of my desire to be with my mate, and I'm committed to courting her. As for Athena, I suspect her insecurity may stem from knowing about my past with other women," Reeves explained. "However, I want to make it clear that now that I've found her, she's the only woman I'll ever cherish for the rest of my life, right?"
Aziz assured him, saying, "I understand your sentiments, and I'm confident that you'll resolve any issues when she returns. I'm not overly concerned about the two of you."
"How's Luna faring?" Reeves inquired.
"She's fully engaged in her training," Aziz replied.
"You appear to be enjoying it as well," Reeves remarked, noting Aziz's content expression.
Aziz smiled and admitted, "I won't deny it."
"All things considered, I believe we're well-prepared for an attack by the vampire king," Reeves stated.
Aziz responded with determination, saying, "Indeed, I eagerly await that confrontation. Rest assured, I'll ensure his defeat, allowing us to live without the constant worry for our loved ones."
Reeves couldn't help but chuckle as he observed, "It's quite amusing how similar your siblings and you are in character."
Aziz joined in the laughter, recalling his father's claim that he resembled his mother in many aspects. "I suppose women may act similarly when they find their mates," he mused.
"How's Luna doing?" Reeves asked, expressing genuine concern.
Aziz shared, "She's thriving, and everything is going smoothly between us. She's kept herself occupied with training under my guidance. I take pride in the fact that she's undergone a remarkable transformation since your departure."
"I have unwavering faith that you and Carter will help her unlock her true potential. I've never doubted that. How is her transition to a vampire progressing?" Reeves inquired.
"She's adapting well; we share a strong understanding. She's actively working to enhance her newfound abilities," Aziz explained.
Offering her vampire blood was likely the best course of action, considering the difficulty of combating vampires, Aziz noted. "I'm well aware of the challenges involved in facing a vampire. It's even more formidable when one is fully human. Now that she has vampire blood, they'll have a tough time posing any threat to her," he commented.
Aziz further elaborated, "Her heightened senses have improved significantly. But despite possessing the blood of our adversaries, I believe it's crucial to intensify our training efforts. We must be fully prepared in case the vampire king brings his coven to our doorstep."
Reeves sought to alleviate Aziz's concerns, saying, "Rest assured, Carter believes our warriors and fighters have never been stronger. He's confident that we'll put up a formidable resistance and emerge victorious against them. I, myself won't let them become victorious against us either. Plus other packs are getting stronger day by day."
Aziz expressed his hope for a positive outcome, as the two continued their conversation. Reeves provided comprehensive updates on the Lunar Pack, which left Aziz pleased with the progress he had achieved.
As an Alpha, Aziz held unwavering confidence in his pack. Just as Reeves had faith in the capabilities of their warriors, Aziz did too. Nevertheless, a lingering sense of unease persisted within him. Aziz was acutely aware of the vampire king's formidable nature, which had claimed his mother. Amidst these concerns, he couldn't help but admire his mother's strength as she battled the venom that threatened her life, all while giving birth to their four children.
He firmly believed that if it was the will of the moon goddess for them to emerge victorious, he could only express profound gratitude for his mother's love and sacrifice. Her indomitable spirit had forged them into stronger individuals, granting them the unique abilities of vampires.
Aziz eagerly anticipated the day when they would finally confront and defeat the vampire king. He understood that he, along with his steadfast allies, would stop at nothing until they achieved that goal, ensuring the safety and well-being of their loved ones and their entire pack.
