VALERIE'S POV
All my life.
All my damned life, I did everything to stop these vampire urges, calling myself a fool and monster from time to time just so that I could control myself.
However, one lusty night with the strongest alpha broke all hell loose for me.
This surge of power in my veins was no joke. I could feel it. Or there is no way I would've lifted this 60kg stone without effort.
I wanted to test it. The more I was thinking about it, the angrier I became. That damned vampire changed and turned my life upside down because of his selfish motives.
He would be waiting for me, he said. Hell, I will be waiting for him from now on.
I have never felt so angry in my life as I felt right now. The anger from years of humiliation, that rejection, betrayal from my family member, and Amnrose’s anger was nothing in front of what I was feeling right now.
I have never waited for anyone other than my dad. However, from today onwards, every single day of my life, I will wait for one man. I will wait for this man to come and claim me so that I can show him exactly what kind of girl he messed with.
He saw his future in my eyes, right? I will ensure I show him his death the next time he meets me.
Vampire, demon, or whatever kind of species he was, I don't care starting today. Killing him will be my ultimate goal from now on.
There have been multiple infiltrations from vampires these days in the surrounding area, right? They have come for me, right? Let them come.
'Valerie, I feel sorry for you -' Adele started, and I shook my head. I wasn’t up for anyone’s pity but only truth and power.
'Tell me, Adele. Is this vampire virus inside me the reason you couldn't come out and change into the wolf till now?' I asked, and the hesitancy in her eyes for a clear answer to my question.
So I was right. She was indeed not coming out because of it.
'Can I at least know why?' I asked, and she sighed.
'I knew the truth the moment I completely entered your body when you were fourteen. Every werewolf is assigned a wolf soul when they are born. Only rare cases don't get wolves because of weak genes. The wolves stay hidden until the human is ready to bear the power and turn when they are 14,' She explained the basics, and I nodded.
'So when I entered your body at 14, I immediately knew that turning into my true form and taking over would risk your life. You still hadn't gotten used to the vampire virus in your system. How could I expect you to bear the pain of me? Though you are the daughter of a beta. My powers are lesser than the alpha but above the strongest beta. I am the rare white wolf. That's why your mark has one white and one black wolf,' She continued, and I listened to her carefully.
'When I figured that out, I also knew I had to limit my powers because your vampire side was already taking a toll on you. That's the reason I am sleeping and resting most of the time. Even when I become restless because of how you act, I try to calm myself before calming you,' She said before chuckling, making me narrow my eyes.
'You know, a werewolf side is supposed to be rogue and wild, and humans are supposed to calm their wolves, but in our case, I had to calm you.
Your vampire side, well, it's terrific. You have no idea what kind of energy you have unleashed. You can throw and kill the strongest Alphas now. I won't recommend you go for that, but you can challenge the entire pack alone,' Adele said, and I smiled softly at her encouraging words.
'You shouldn't have mentioned it if you didn't recommend it. Now I am tempted to -' I felt my claws drawing out at the mention of some blood and mess.
'Hey!' Adele said, and I chuckled mildly.
'I am calm, I swear. I am so lucky to have you as my wolf. After my mom and dad, you are probably the only one who took care of me from inside of me,' I murmured after a long time, and she hummed.
'I know you are heartbroken because of what Ambrose did, but he had a valid reason. You know that, right? You literally drank his blood and more than 200 ml of it. Anyone is supposed to lose it. What would you have done if you found out the man you are in love with and finally made love to drink your blood and is a half-breed?' Adele said, and I didn't like how she was siding with him.
'Regarding this vampire thing -' She paused.
'What about it?'
'As long as you promise me you won't kill an innocent. We should be good about it. Now that you have actually tasted blood, you will crave it, Valerie.
The craving would be nothing like before. It will make you go mad now. Do you think you will be able to do it?' she asked, and I bit my lips before humming.
'I can try,' I looked at my hand, the blood running in my own veins tempting me slightly.
F*ck. This is worse than I thought.
I kept looking at my hand repeatedly before groaning in annoyance.
"The hell I do now!" I groaned before punching another tree, trying to take my anger on nature because I was angry with the moon goddess who cursed me with this.
"Valerie?" I heard a familiar voice, and I froze in my place.
"Is that really you?" Damian's words echoed behind me, and my mind immediately played the flashbacks of what he had said to me when he didn't want me.
I can't have a people-pleaser as my mate. You are like a puppet who would do anything for all people. You don't deserve to be the Luna of the pack that ranks in the top ten. You are cursed and probably don't have a wolf.
A people-pleaser like you should -
"Valerie, wh-what were you doing?" I was harshly pulled back from the memories when I heard Beatrice's voice.
"Sister," I smiled at her.
Despite what she did to me and how things turned out, she was still my elder sister, and I loved her dearly.
"I was just venting my anger out because of some issues. What are you guys doing here?" I kept my eyes trained on Beatrice because I was unsure if I would be able to control my urges and fangs if I got angered again by looking at Damian.
"What kind of training have you been taking? How did you get so strong? Don't try to lie to me. I saw what you did just now. How could you punch a hole into a tree? Have you found your wolf now?" Damian asked one after the other, and I tried to keep my cool.
"I would rather you don't ask personal questions from me, Alpha Damian. You don't mean anything to me. I am still a rogue and am standing in no man's territory. I am not breaking any rules, so you have no right to attack me or ask me anything about -"
"I am not enquiring you, Valerie, for god's sake! As your friend, I just asked you a simple question, and I would rather you answer me clearly. How did you gain such immense energy?" Damian asked, and I gritted my teeth before turning around.
"My answer is still the same. I am not answerable to you -" I started to walk, but before I could take a step, he held my hand, making me pause abruptly as a new wave of hatred ran through my veins.
I could feel it. The hatred and anger that ran into my body fuelled my urge to destroy.
"You cannot leave like this, Valerie. Did you deceive me?" Damian asked, and I didn't know what I should be more shocked about.
The fact that he was daringly holding my hand in front of his girlfriend, or because he had the audacity to say I was the one who deceived him.
"What did you say?"
He had my entire focus now.
"I said you deceived me. How can you do this to me? I thought we had something! How can you hide such a big thing from me!" Damian was becoming angry, and I could see that, but what I didn't understand was why the hell was he becoming angry.
I wasn't the one who didn't want me! I wasn't the one who called myself cursed and incapable! How dare he put this on me so shamelessly!
"Damian, leave my hand while I am asking nicely. You betrayed me with Beatrice. Don't do that same thing to her that you did to me. Have a little shame and decency," I said, and he scoffed.
"Shame and decency? Do you even know the meaning of these words? Look, I am not hearing anything else apart from the truth. You tell me what's going on here and how you gained these powers and become this powerful. If you knew everything, why didn’t you tell me and leave the pack? We could’ve stayed happy together," Damian said, and I looked at Beatrice, who stood there, helplessly.
It was the same expression that I had when he said he didn't want me.
This was the same expression I must've had. I looked at Damian before jerking my hand away from him, resulting in him falling forward.
I quickly dodged so that he fell on the ground rather than on me.
"I told you I am not your pack member now. Regarding how I gained these powers and not, it's a matter which should concern me and my future mate/husband,"
Damian released a thunderous growl as soon as I mentioned that.
"I am your mate!" Damian growled, and I scoffed.
"Really? Well, I don't see your mark on my neck. The last time I checked, you rejected me, remember? Stay clear of me, Damian. I mean it," I asked and was about to turn again when he held my hand again.
What the hell is wrong with him?! Will he only stop when I will suck him dry? I growled in my head and Adele fidgeted uncomfortably.
