Chapter 11 11


Aria POV

After rounding off my work in the study room, I stepped out of the study room. Grace immediately ran to my side. 

“My lady, Alpha Kane is here to see you.” She announced.

Hearing Kane, my face immediately lit up. I carried my gown and rushed over to the living room, where Kane was waiting.

“You are here,” I mumbled.

Kane turned in my direction and sent a sweet smile to me. 

I immediately walked over to take a seat beside him on the sofa.

“How have you been doing?” He asked.

“Perfectly fine,” I responded. 

“I miss you so much, and that’s part of the reason I decided to check on you.” He told me.

“Good, you are here, Kane. I’m having issues with some new branches under us.” I told him.

I watched his brows snap together a little.

“You should have placed a call across to me instead of waiting till I show up here.” He complained 

“It wasn’t urgent, and that’s part of the reason I decided to wait for you,” I told him.

“Do you want me to check it up now?” He asked.

I nodded.

We both got on our feet and walked towards my study room. I walked over to the bookshelves and took out files, passing them over to Kane.

Kane took the files and took a glance at them.

“It’s nothing different.” He mumbled as his gaze continued to scan through the files.

He walked over to my desk while I followed him. Kane lectured me on things I knew nothing about.

“Thanks for much.” I showed my gratitude after getting the message he was trying to pass across.

I returned the files to my shelves, and Kane took a glance around my study room.

“Mind a glass of wine?” I asked him

“Sure.” He mumbled.

“Is anyone out there?” I called out, turning to the door.

The door opened after a short while, and I watched Grace walk in. 

“Do you need anything, my lady?” She asked with her head slightly bowed.

“Get us a bottle of wine,” I ordered. 

She nodded and left immediately. 

Kane and I crashed on the sofa across the room.

Aunty Evelyn and Uncle Grey had asked me to be so good to Kane, but there was no way I wouldn't, especially when he was such a good man to me as well.

A knock came on the door after a while, and I instructed the person in. The door was opened, and Grace strode in with a tray in her hands. She dropped it in front of us with two glasses.

“You can leave,” I told her.

“Yes, my lady.” She muttered and left instantly.

I was left alone. I wanted to open the wine, but Kabe stopped me.

“Don’t worry, I will do it.” He said Sp softly and politely.

I smiled softly and watched him take that wine from me. I watched him open up the wine and pour two glasses. He passed one of the glasses to me and took one.

I gently took a sip from my glasses while I watched him do the same. My gaze quietly fell on the diamond ring in my hands, and a soft smile escaped from my lips.

“Is something happening?” Kane, noticing my unusual smile, asked me,

“Was just remembering something,” I told him.

He nodded and took a sip from his glass again.

“Are you busy after this?” He suddenly asked

“Why? Is something wrong?” I asked him.

“I feel like taking you out on a date.” He responded

“A date?” I mumbled, and he nodded. 

I would have loved to go with him, but I had so much to work on at the moment. I don’t think it was the best time to go on a date. 

“Maybe some other time. I’m occupied with a lot of words.” I told him

Kane was quick to understand me, and he nodded.

I relaxed my back on the table and quietly closed my eyes to take some rest, but unfortunately, I didn’t know when I slipped into the dream world.

I was awakened by the faint murmuring that came above me. I rubbed my puffy eyes before finally opening them up.

“You are up?” I heard Kane’s voice above me.

My eyes immediately widened, and it became clearer. I took a glance around the whole room, and that was when I realised it was no longer the study room but my room.

“You are fine, Aria. You slept off, but you looked uncomfortable on the sofa; that was why I decided to take you to your room to have a proper sleep.” He explained

My eyes widened more in shock. Kane carried me in. 

I was just so tired that I didn’t realise when I slept off on the sofa beside him. 

“Thanks, Kane,” I mumbled and managed to sit upright. 

“Do you need anything?” He asked me and sat by my bedside.

“No, I’m fine,” I told him. Kane was just so good to me. 

I managed to get out of bed, and I walked over to the window and opened up the curtain.

“Kane, I…

I wanted to take a spin and complain to Kane about the dream I had, but I didn’t expect him to be already next behind me. I never knew when he moved so close to me, so close to me that our lips were just an inch apart.

I cleared my throat and immediately took a step away from Kane.

I walked back to the bed and took a seat. I don’t know why, but it felt a little awkward. I took my phone from the bed and scrolled through the internet.

Suddenly seeing a picture, I suddenly froze in the same spot. It was Lily and Derek's picture that they took together. Seeing their picture together suddenly reminded me of everything.

I was already totally out of their picture. I wonder if Lily still remembers me.

My eyes were filled up with my little tears.

Kane looked so worried at my sudden expression, and he moved closer to me.

“Is something wrong?” He asked,

“Kane, what about the plan you told me you had to get Lily back?” I asked him, looking so determined. 

Right now I was ready to do anything to have my daughter back to myself!
