Chapter 12 12

Chapter 12 12

Aria POV

“Are you sure you are ready to do whatever I say?” Kane asked me.

I could feel my heart lit up a little because I already felt that it would be quite dangerous, but I didn’t care at the moment. I was so determined.

“Yes,” I told Kane without thinking twice.

“Good.” He nodded

I moved a little closer to Kane, and I slightly remembered how I nearly kissed him the other time. Even at that moment, it was someone else's face that flashed into my head.

“We will be sending Derek a parcel.” He told me, jolting me a little out of my thought.

My brows furrowed. I couldn’t understand what he meant by that.

“A parcel?” I enquired

“Just watch and see,” Kane told me with a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.

I don’t know why my heart limped up so much, but one thing was sure. I was so scared. I was so nervous about Kane’s plan; I knew Derek wouldn’t take it lightly with me.

I took a deep breath in the bathroom, trying to calm myself down. I knew there was no going back now; I was so ready to get Lily from Derek.

I finally wrapped the towel around my chest and walked out of my bathroom. But the moment I stepped into my room, I was shocked to the core.

My brows snapped together at the sight of Kane.

“W-what are you doing here?” I asked him.

Seeing me almost naked just with my towel, he slightly looked away, clearing his throat.

“I’m sorry. I never knew you would come out this way. Grace, let me in.” He told me

I sighed.

“It’s fine,” I mumbled.

“Okay. I will just excuse you.” He said and walked immediately towards the exit.

Seeing him so gently compared to Derek met my heart again. Even though we were already engaged, Kane decided to take things slow with me, and he wasn’t ready to force me or rush me with anything. He was ready to teach me things I don’t know, but Derek only used me.

I ignored the thought and walked over to my mirror, where I applied lotion to my body. I walked over to my closet and picked out my loungewear. I stepped into it and packed my hair into a bun before walking out of my room. The moment I arrived at the living room, I was welcomed by Kane’s face.

“You done?” He asked the moment he noticed my arrival getting on his feet.

I nodded and walked closer to him. Seeing me that closely makes it a little awkward; however, Kane doesn't act like he saw anything. He looked so neural and reserved.

“Are you ready for that?” Kane asked, and I immediately knew that it was about his plan.

I inhaled sharply before nodding firmly. Of course, there was no going back. I needed to have Lily with me.

“Yes,” I told him.

Kane smiled a little at my determination.

“Have you gotten everything ready?” He asked.

I nodded and turned around.

“Grace, are you there?” I called out

I heard a light footsteps heading towards us, and soon Grace arrived right beside us.

“Get me all the files in my room, along with the box,” I told her.

“Yes ma’am.” She nodded and immediately left my side.

I was left alone with Kane, and I inhaled sharply, but seeing Kane beside me, I felt more safe. I knew he was there for me, and he was ready to protect me from Derek.

“You look scared.” I heard Kane’s voice disrupting my thoughts.

Of course, I’m still a little scared. I knew how devilish Derek was. Seeing him defend Lily so much, I had such bad feelings that it would be hard to get Lily back.

I smiled faintly at Kane, and luckily his next words were interrupted by Grace's footsteps as she approached us.

“Here is what you requested, ma’am.” She passed everything to me.

I quietly took everything from her, and I walked over to the sofa, taking a seat.

I packaged the box, and Kane was right in front of me looking at the whole thing.

“I’m done,” I said to him after sealing off the box.

“Good.” He hummed.

I looked at the door and called out.

“Is anyone out there?”

I heard a hurrying footstep as my personal guard approached us.

“Do you need me to do anything?” He asked.

“Take this and deliver it to the address on it,” I told him.

He nodded and took the box from me without hesitation.

I watched him walk towards the exit until he was completely out of sight.

I sighed, feeling a little restless.

“Are you sure he will take the bait?” I asked him

“Of course. You should trust me, Aria.” Kane told me

I took a deep breath. I trusted him, and that’s why I decided to follow his plan and deliver the parcel to Derek, my ex-husband.
