Chapter 144
"That's right." The delivery man said with certainty.
Victoria's eyelid twitched sharply. Time really flew by so fast—half a month had passed just like that?
She told the delivery man to leave the package at the security desk, and she'd come pick it up right away.
Kaida waved her hand, and a taxi pulled up in front of them. Kaida thoughtfully opened the car door for her, placing her hand on top of Victoria's head. After she got in, Kaida sat down beside Victoria.
Victoria gave the address of the Gonzalez Villa. More than ten minutes later, she picked up a small cardboard box from the security desk.
She didn't open it right away. She planned to look at it when she got home.
On the way home, they walked back.
They came across an old person selling green plants. The sunlight shone on the lush green plants, like a layer of pale golden veil draped over them.
A small, delicate flower had bloomed on one of them.
Seeing that Victoria liked it, Kaida took it upon herself to buy it.
Victoria then went to browse the flower and bird market. Just as she walked to the entrance of a small shop, she heard a sharp, thin voice, "Hello there, hello there!"
They turned around and saw a gray myna bird standing in a cage, staring at Victoria without blinking, "Wishing you prosperity! Take me home!"
The myna bird spoke extremely clearly, with a crisp and pleasant voice.
Victoria was amused by it. She spent five thousand dollars to buy it and brought it home.
Back home, Kaida moved the green plant to the balcony, watered it, and then went to cook.
Victoria played with the myna bird. It was quite clever—once home, it became aloof and stopped talking. Only when given food would it say a few words.
After playing with the myna bird, she picked up the delivery box on the table.
Opening the package, she found layer after layer of wrapping.
Finally, a voice recorder appeared.
Victoria was quite surprised. Why would Tamsin send her this?
Could there really be something suspicious about Tamsin's death?
Walking to the master bedroom, Victoria closed the door and turned on the voice recorder.
She listened to the recording three times in full!
"Ms. Gonzalez, when you receive this voice recorder, I should no longer be in this world. Please don't be sad for me, because all of this is what I brought upon myself, reaping what I sowed."
"You must be careful of Mia! She threatened me with my daughter Mimi, making me follow you and then kill you at the broken bridge! But Ms. Gonzalez, you're a very good person. You offered me the presidential suite, gave me money, and even came to celebrate my birthday. Your presence made me feel there are still more good people in this world."
"I couldn't bring myself to hurt you, so I could only crash into the bridge railing. Many times I wanted to tell you that Mia forced me to kill you, but I didn't dare risk my daughter's safety. Ms. Gonzalez, I apologize for kicking your father when he was down at the hospital. I sincerely hope you will be happy, healthy, and joyful every day."
Victoria stayed in the master bedroom for a long time. So Tamsin's death was connected to Mia.
She knew Mia had poor character, but she didn't expect her to be so lacking in moral boundaries!
What if Martin knew?
Would he clear Tamsin's name?
After lunch, Victoria drove to the Gonzalez Group.
The receptionist saw her and said expressionlessly, "Mr. Collins is on a business trip. Please leave."
"He's on a business trip? When will he be back?" Victoria was confused.
The receptionist didn't even look at her, "You don't even know, how would I know?"
This statement left Victoria speechless.
Yes, she was Martin's wife, and she didn't know Martin's whereabouts. How would outsiders know?
She called Martin on her phone. The call was blocked.
Just as she didn't know what to do, the elevator door on the side opened.
Martin, in a dark suit, walked out of the elevator surrounded by people, heading in her direction!
Victoria laughed bitterly and walked over, "Martin, I need to talk to you!"
But he treated her like air, ignoring her completely as he walked past.
"If you won't listen to me, I'll keep following you! Until you're willing to listen!" Victoria looked at his tall figure, her eyes showing determination.
As soon as she finished speaking, his steps stopped. He gave some quiet instructions to the executives beside him, and then the executives and Brian walked out through the revolving glass doors of the Gonzalez Group.
Victoria walked toward him and said mockingly, "To avoid me, you really know how to make up lies! Weren't you on a business trip? How are you still here?"
"Knowing I don't want to see you, you still came looking for me? Victoria, you're really pathetic." He curled his lips and spoke contemptuously.
Victoria's heart clenched sharply. He seemed to be right.
She really was pathetic.
"I'm giving you three minutes!" Martin looked at his watch impatiently and urged.
Victoria smiled self-mockingly. They were clearly husband and wife, yet he only gave her three minutes!
How ironic!
"Martin, do you really know Mia? She has character problems, do you know that?"
"One minute left!"
"Martin, I'm not joking with you. Do you remember when I went to Skylake Village? Tamsin committed suicide! Actually, Tamsin didn't want to die at all. She was instructed by someone who wanted to kill me. But she couldn't bring herself to hurt me, so she crashed the scrapped car into the bridge railing and killed herself!"
"You're trying to say the person behind it was Mia, right?" Martin narrowed his eyes, studying Victoria.
Victoria nodded, "Yes, it was her!"
"Victoria, are you that bored? You can't feel comfortable unless you slander her?"
"I'm not slandering! Everything I'm saying is true! I just found out too. I have evidence!" Victoria quickly handed him the voice recorder she was clutching in her palm, "This is a voice recorder Tamsin sent me. Just listen to it and you'll know if what I'm saying is true!"
Martin's cold gaze swept over the voice recorder in her palm. After taking it, he threw it hard on the ground.
The voice recorder instantly shattered into pieces!
"What are you doing? Martin, what are you doing!" Victoria was shocked and quickly tried to pick up the pieces of the voice recorder from the ground.
But a black leather shoe stepped firmly on the recorder, grinding it continuously.
"Lift your foot! Lift your foot!" Victoria grabbed at his suit pants.
But he didn't move an inch.
Martin crouched down and grabbed her chin forcefully, "Do you think at this point, I would still believe what you say?"
Victoria had faked illness, forged medicine, and demanded huge benefits from him in exchange for being willing to have his child!
Last night, she told him to get out and didn't want to hear him speak!
Martin sneered. He must have been too good to Victoria, which is why she acted so recklessly!
"I'm not lying! Martin, you won't even listen before making your judgment?" Victoria looked at him in shock. They were clearly husband and wife, yet they doubted and suspected each other!
