Chapter 139
"I, Martin, swear that no matter what changes happen in the future or what problems arise, I will help my parents-in-law and take care of them in their old age! I will help the Gonzalez family!"
"If you break this oath, you'll have no children or grandchildren and die a terrible death!"
Victoria looked at him and added with a smile.
Martin saw that Victoria was willing to have a child for him, yet still forced him to swear an oath!
Their positions seemed to have reversed.
The strong sense of calculation made Martin's eyes sting and ache. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he gritted his teeth and repeated her words, "If I break this oath, I, Martin, will have no children or grandchildren! And die a terrible death!"
"Are you satisfied now?" Martin roared at her.
Victoria was so startled that her body shook violently.
He let go of her, didn't even look at her, and turned to leave.
"Remove all the bodyguards outside. I promised not to get an abortion, and I keep my word!" Victoria spoke up again.
He ignored her, lifted his feet, turned around and went downstairs.
Martin drove his black Bentley, flooring the gas pedal and speeding wildly.
So this is how much it hurts to be treated this way by someone you care about!
The heartache was suffocating!
He was planning their future, while she was full of schemes and curses!
Two versions of himself were fighting in Martin's head.
One was saying, Martin, she's your wife, you should treat her better! The one who wronged you was Hayden, not Victoria!
The other was saying, Martin, she's your enemy's daughter! How can you have feelings for her? She's not innocent, she's a beneficiary! Think of your parents who died tragically. Do you still want to live peacefully with her and go back to how things were!
Have you thought about your parents who died unjustly?
Your parents died for nothing!
Martin felt like his head was about to explode. Everything was so chaotic, and the car went faster and faster.
He didn't know what to do anymore!
At the apartment.
Victoria slept particularly soundly because she had gotten what she wanted.
Early the next morning, she was woken up by Brian's phone call.
She answered the phone sleepily and heard Brian say on the phone, "Mrs. Collins, Mr. Collins got into a car accident last night. Do you want to come see him?"
Victoria's heart tightened, "He was fine last night, how did he get into a car accident?"
"He was driving too fast and crashed into a roadside tree. The tree was knocked down. I wanted to contact you last night, but Mr. Collins wouldn't let me. I know he wants to see you. If you prepare some snacks he likes or something, he'll definitely be happy."
"Mrs. Collins, you and Mr. Collins need opportunities to spend time together, and now the opportunity has come. You should make a good impression." Brian spoke earnestly.
Victoria avoided the main point, "Is he okay?"
"Just scraped the skin on his forehead, nothing serious. But the doctor still asked him to stay in the hospital for observation for a day." Brian told her everything he knew.
Victoria thought about how fiercely they had argued last night, exchanging harsh words.
She had even forced him to swear an oath. He probably didn't want to see her.
"I won't come then. You take good care of him." Victoria said and hung up the phone.
At noon.
While eating the nutritious meal Kaida had prepared, she saw a WhatsApp message from Brian, "Mrs. Collins, Mr. Collins hasn't had much appetite, and today he hasn't eaten anything at all. You should still come see him and give Mr. Collins a surprise."
Right after that, Victoria saw the photo he sent.
In the photo, Martin was wearing a hospital gown with white gauze wrapped around his forehead, smoking expressionlessly, looking troubled.
Victoria was about to reply that she wouldn't go - if she went, he'd have even less appetite.
Kaida started chattering in front of her, "Ms. Gonzalez, the bodyguards downstairs are gone today. Does this mean you can go out shopping and get some fresh air?"
So he really had removed the bodyguards.
A flash of surprise crossed Victoria's eyes.
"Ms. Gonzalez, I have to thank you. Mr. Collins gave me another raise, a whole two thousand dollars more. He asked me to take good care of you and cook food you love. Mr. Collins is really a good person."
Victoria knew better but didn't say it out loud - was he a good person?
He was the world's most twisted ungrateful wretch!
Still, she didn't want to make the relationship worse. After she died, her parents and the Gonzalez family would all need Martin's care.
Brian had been good to her too, and she didn't want to make things difficult for him.
So Victoria looked at Kaida, "Kaida, please make some nourishing soup and pack it up. I need to go to the hospital later."
"Okay, okay, Ms. Gonzalez, I'll do it right away." Kaida quickly agreed.
Victoria picked up her phone again and messaged Brian to ask for the hospital address.
Coincidentally, it was the same hospital as Hayden's.
But she wasn't surprised, because that hospital belonged to Martin anyway.
Perfect - she could also check on how Hayden's recovery was going.
Kaida quickly finished making the soup. She wanted to go to the hospital with Victoria, but Victoria refused. She wasn't used to being followed.
Besides, her physical condition wasn't at the point where she needed someone with her yet.
She even let Kaida leave work early. Kaida happily kept saying thank you, took off her apron, and left the apartment.
Victoria carried the thermos full of soup and took a taxi to the hospital.
While in the elevator, she sent Brian a message, "I'm almost at the room."
Brian replied instantly, "Mrs. Collins, could you come a bit later? Mr. Collins isn't very convenient right now."
"It's fine, I'll just take a quick look and leave."
Victoria didn't think much of it and replied before turning off her phone screen.
The elevator doors opened.
She carried the thermos and filed out with the crowd.
Arriving at the hospital room door, Brian was just coming out. Seeing Victoria, his expression looked somewhat unnatural, "Mrs. Collins, didn't I ask you to come later?"
"Who's inside?"
Victoria asked, puzzled.
Brian pressed his lips together, "No one, Mr. Collins is just taking his afternoon nap."
She naturally didn't believe him.
Taking advantage of Brian's distraction, she pushed open the door directly.
And walked in.
Brian was somewhat shocked but still closed the door.
"Martin, this is nourishing soup I made for you myself. Have a sip."
A woman's sweet voice fell into Victoria's ears, particularly grating.
She walked in wearing her low heels, only to see Mia feeding Martin soup spoonful by spoonful as he lay in the hospital bed.
"Victoria, what are you doing here?" Hearing footsteps, Mia turned around. Seeing Victoria, she looked quite surprised.
Hearing this, Martin raised his eyes, meeting Victoria's gaze directly.
Right in front of Victoria, he drank the soup from the spoon Mia held to his lips.
Victoria found it extremely painful to watch. They weren't even divorced yet, they were still husband and wife, and he was already being so intimate with another woman?
He wasn't avoiding suspicion at all!
Victoria gripped the thermos in her hand tightly, looked away from Martin's gaze, and quickly walked up to Mia, grabbing her wrist, "He's a married man. By throwing yourself at him so openly like this, do you think I'm dead?"
