Chapter 140
Mia's eyes instantly turned red, and she cried out. "It hurts, Victoria. Martin and I are innocent. Our relationship isn't what you think."
Seeing her act so two-faced, all soft and weak, Victoria got even angrier. She slammed the thermos she was holding onto the cabinet by the hospital bed and gripped Mia's hand harder and harder.
They were innocent?
Their relationship wasn't what she thought?
Martin had admitted it himself—they'd done everything!
And they'd had sex more than once!
"Mia, aren't you disgusted with yourself, putting on this act in front of me?" Victoria laughed bitterly.
Mia turned her head toward Martin, who was lying silently in the hospital bed, seeking his help. "Martin, my wrist really hurts."
"If you keep making a scene and don't let go of her, I don't know if she'll die, but you can forget about keeping that hand of yours!" Martin originally didn't want to defend Mia, but thinking about how Victoria had forced him to make that oath yesterday, to have a child, making all those demands of him.
He still hadn't gotten over his anger.
Victoria stared at him blankly. So between her and Mia, the person he'd protect would never be her!
She was so pathetic, throwing herself at him just to let Martin humiliate her!
Victoria let go of Mia and sneered. "I just came to see if you were dead. Didn't expect you to be so lucky!"
"I'm not dead. Disappointed?"
"Of course. That car accident yesterday should have killed you."
"Don't worry, Victoria. I'll definitely die after you."
One thing led to another, and Victoria heard his true feelings, right in front of Mia, his mistress.
The most ironic part was that his dream was about to come true!
If nothing unexpected happened, she really would die before him.
Victoria looked at Martin for a long moment. Her eyes suddenly reddened, and she found she couldn't speak anymore, not even harsh words.
She turned to leave, then heard Martin's voice, cold as snow, falling lightly to the ground. "Instead of bringing me soup and trying to please me, you'd be better off just having the baby in your belly!"
The baby again!
Victoria sneered, forcing back her tears. Could he really not stand seeing her alive?
Did he have to keep reminding her!
Victoria turned back with a slight smile. "I told you, I came to collect your body! Too bad my wish didn't come true! Since Mr. Collins has a beauty by his side, I won't disturb Mr. Collins's pleasant time!"
Victoria left the hospital room without looking back.
Martin's face visibly darkened. Mia played the good person, comforting him. "Martin, Victoria is your enemy's daughter, and you're actually making her have your baby? If you want a child, I can have one for you!"
"You? What makes you think you're qualified to have my child?" Martin frowned at her, demanding an answer.
Mia was stunned. "I..."
"Mia, know your place. Yes, you helped me financially, but that doesn't mean you can have my child! My children aren't for just anyone who wants to have them!"
"But when we get married later, I'll have children too." Mia argued.
Hearing this made Martin even more irritated. "Get out!"
"Martin, I'm not trying to force you to divorce. I'm already very happy that you agreed to take wedding photos with me. I'll wait for you. I've waited all these years, I don't mind waiting another twenty-some days. Calm down."
"Get out!"
"Okay, okay, you're the patient, don't get upset. If you don't want to see me, I'll leave right now. I'll come see you again in a few days."
Though Mia was furious inside—how could she not be angry being rejected like this by the person she liked?—she had no choice. She hadn't successfully taken the position yet, so she could only endure!
With this thought, Mia got up and quickly left the room.
Martin smoked many cigarettes, his brow refusing to relax.
When he saw the thermos on the cabinet, his brow eased a bit. He picked it up with one hand and opened it.
The soup was still steaming and smelled wonderful even before tasting it.
Martin's lips curved into a faint smile as he scooped up a spoonful with the spoon and brought it to his lips.
Brian entered the room at that moment, carrying a bag of fruit. He didn't know what had just happened in the room, but he saw Martin drink every last drop of soup from the thermos.
Martin's lips still carried a faint smile, showing he was in a decent mood.
Brian recognized the thermos—Victoria had brought it.
"Mrs. Collins really cares about Mr. Collins, even making soup and bringing it herself."
"She didn't make this soup." Martin frowned.
Brian was quite surprised. "You can tell just by tasting it?"
"I have stomach problems. She used to learn cooking specifically so I could eat properly. Her soup tastes much better than this." Martin's mood was complicated as he said this.
If he remembered correctly, Victoria hadn't made him soup in over a year.
Brian wanted them to reconcile. "Mr. Collins, you should be nicer to Mrs. Collins. When she's in a better mood, making soup would be nothing. She's even willing to have your baby—that shows she loves you. Why don't you go home to be with Mrs. Collins tonight?"
"Think you're so smart? Go handle the discharge paperwork." Martin glanced at him.
He quickly said okay and left the room.
Victoria took the elevator to see Hayden.
Aria said Hayden was recovering well and would wake up any day now.
Victoria listened quietly. This was the only good news she'd heard in days.
She only hoped now that Hayden would wake up soon. She wanted to say goodbye to him in person.
After just a few days, Aria had even more white hair, painfully piercing Victoria's eyes.
Victoria comforted her. "Mom, Dad won't lack medical expenses anymore. His medical account has a hundred million dollars, and I have three hundred million in cash. Don't worry so much, don't work yourself too hard. Dad needs you."
After she died, Hayden would only have Aria left!
"Victoria, where did you get so much money? Did something happen to you?" Aria looked at her in shock.
Victoria took her hand and smiled. "Because you're going to be a grandmother. Mom, I'm pregnant with Martin's child. He gave me the money for the baby's sake."
Aria didn't speak for a long time, only crying that Victoria had been wronged.
After comforting Aria, Victoria left the room. As soon as she went downstairs, she ran into Mia at the entrance.
Mia must have been waiting specifically for her—she wasn't surprised to see her at all.
But Victoria didn't want to engage with her. Just looking at her made her feel sick. She glanced at her and tried to walk around her.
But Mia stepped in front of her, blocking her way, and smiled provocatively. "Victoria, I didn't expect you to be so cheap. Martin destroyed the Gonzalez family like that, and you're still willing to have his baby? Have you forgotten everything he did? He hired Tamsin to kill you! Now you're sharing a bed with him—aren't you afraid he'll strangle you in the middle of the night?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Victoria slapped Mia to the ground.
