Chapter 127
The doctor's face changed slightly as she urged Victoria, "Turn off your phone."
She glanced again at the cold medical equipment. "Then take off your pants and lie down. We'll start the procedure right away."
Victoria looked at her constantly buzzing phone screen. She really shouldn't answer it now. It might tip Martin off, and if he found out, that would be trouble.
She hung up and sent Martin a WhatsApp message, [Busy.]
Then she pressed her lips together and turned off her phone.
She took off her pants halfway and lay down on the machine.
The baby seemed to sense something ominous. Her stomach began to ache in waves, as if silently protesting its tragic fate of being turned into a pool of blood before even having a chance to be born.
Victoria bit her lip, touching her belly, murmuring in her heart, 'Baby, don't be afraid. Mommy will always be with you. It won't hurt much. Mommy will come to be with you soon, baby. We can't be mother and child in this world, but we'll be mother and child in the afterlife. Then no one will ever be able to tear us apart.'
At this thought, Victoria's heart ached so much she could barely breathe.
No one doesn't love their own child, and she was no different.
Victoria used to want so badly to have Martin's child, but reality had turned out like this!
Crystal-clear tears broke through her eyes and slid down her cheeks.
The doctor, who was drawing up the syringe, looked at Victoria with pity. Thinking she was afraid of pain, the doctor comforted her, "We'll give you anesthesia. You'll sleep through it and it'll be over. Don't worry, it won't hurt."
"Thank you, doctor."
Victoria wiped her tears with a bitter smile.
At that very moment, Martin was stuck on an elevated highway.
The green light on the bridge suddenly turned red, causing a long line of traffic.
He slammed his hand on the steering wheel in frustration.
"Hello, the number you have dialed is currently on another call."
Victoria actually dared not answer his call!
A message popped up on his phone screen.
It was from Victoria.
"Busy."
What was she busy with? Busy aborting his child?
Martin pressed the video call button.
The video call rang for a full minute without being answered!
Martin was furious.
He dialed the video call over and over again.
Again and again.
Still no one answered.
"What are you busy with?"
"Victoria, answer me!"
The veins on Martin's hand bulged as he sent Victoria messages.
But she still didn't reply.
He called Victoria again.
"Hello, the phone you have dialed is switched off. Please try again later."
The cold automated voice sounded again.
Martin furiously threw his phone.
It instantly hit the ground with a dull thud.
Still not satisfied, he pounded the steering wheel hard. "Victoria, you've got some nerve!"
Just then, the red light on the elevated highway suddenly turned green.
Martin was frantic. He floored it, and the speedometer above the steering wheel shot straight up to the maximum!
He didn't dare imagine what he would do if Victoria really aborted his child!
He would strangle her with his own hands!
She was already carrying such heavy sins, yet she still dared to secretly get an abortion behind his back!
Ten minutes later.
A black Bentley pulled up at the hospital entrance.
Martin quickly unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the car door, and got out with a cold expression.
He slammed the car door hard.
He rushed up the steps and into the hospital's main hall.
He saw the floor directory and followed it to the abortion room.
There was a whole row of abortion rooms.
Martin couldn't reach Victoria and didn't know which room she was in.
So he searched them one by one.
He opened one door and saw a curtain drawn, with a woman's silhouette visible on it.
Wasn't that woman's silhouette Victoria's?
Great, she really was getting an abortion!
Martin was trembling with rage. He yanked open the curtain. "Victoria, who gave you the nerve to come to the hospital for an abortion behind my back?"
The curtain was pulled back.
But it was a middle-aged woman lying on the equipment, not yet awake from anesthesia.
The masked female doctor saw Martin barge in and scolded sharply, "The patient is having a procedure, how did you get in here? Get out now!"
"Victoria, which room is she in?" Martin glared at her fiercely and demanded urgently, "Tell me."
Perhaps his manner was too intimidating. The female doctor's face went pale with fright. "What Victoria? I don't know."
Martin laughed bitterly in anger, turned and left the abortion room.
He just barged into the rooms one by one.
Finally, he found Victoria in the last abortion room at the end of the corridor!
At that moment, Victoria was lying on the equipment, her pale face covered with crystal-clear tears.
Her hand was touching her belly.
The masked doctor in a white coat was holding a syringe, about to inject Victoria with anesthetic.
Martin rushed forward, grabbed the doctor by the collar of the white coat, and punched him in the face.
Before the doctor could react, Martin knocked him to the ground. The doctor covered his head with both hands, "Why are you hitting me? I didn't do anything to you."
"Where's the baby? What did you do to my child?" Martin roared, raising his fist to strike the doctor again.
Victoria panicked. She hadn't expected Martin to find this place.
Afraid someone would get killed, she quickly jumped down from the equipment and used her body to shield the doctor. Although this was her first time meeting this doctor and they were complete strangers, this anger shouldn't be taken out on an innocent person.
"Martin, if you want to hit someone, hit me! I'm the one who wants the abortion, it has nothing to do with him! Taking out your anger on innocent people—what kind of man does that make you?" Victoria glared at Martin and shouted.
As soon as she finished speaking, Martin pulled her aside, "Victoria, don't be so quick to defend others. I'll deal with you later!"
"Tell me, what did you do to my child? Tell me!" Martin's fist came down again on the doctor lying on the ground, "You dare abort my child? Are you tired of living?"
