Chapter 126
The phone rang a few times before being hung up.
Clearly, Martin didn't want to take her call.
Mia gritted her teeth and walked out of the hospital. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She had helped Martin financially. She had practically saved him!
Yet his attitude toward her was becoming more and more perfunctory, more and more cold. How could she accept this?
Mia drove to the Gonzalez Group.
She clicked along in her high heels, took the elevator, and strutted arrogantly into the CEO's office.
The CEO's office was empty.
Mia asked a female employee in the office area outside the CEO's office and learned that Martin was in a meeting in the conference room.
She walked to the conference room door, where Brian, standing at the entrance, stopped her. "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Collins isn't available to see you right now."
"Brian, I know you have a problem with me, but you need to think carefully. This is about Victoria—do you dare stop me?" Mia said harshly.
When Brian heard it was about Victoria, he stepped aside.
No one knew Victoria's place in Martin's heart better than he did.
Mia's hand fell on the conference room door handle. She twisted it hard, then pushed.
The conference room door swung open.
Mia glanced around the conference room. It was full of people.
Aaron was there, and so was Martin.
Along with senior executives from the Gonzalez Group.
Everyone's conversation came to an abrupt halt as they all turned to look at Mia.
Mia clicked along in her high heels, clutching her envelope bag, carrying herself like the lady of the house.
"Who let you in?" Martin's eyes instantly flashed with cold light.
Mia walked up to Martin and smiled sweetly. "Martin, I'm here to tell you something very important. Could you please pause the meeting for a moment?"
Martin looked at her for a long moment. He knew her personality. She wouldn't be so reckless unless it was something special.
"Mr. Hill, how about we take a ten-minute break and then continue?" Martin looked at Aaron beside him.
Aaron gave a mocking smile. "Mr. Collins should handle his own affairs first."
With that, Aaron turned and left the conference room.
The others followed suit and left.
The conference room door closed again.
Martin lit a cigarette and started smoking.
Mia said in a gossipy tone, "Martin, did you know Victoria is pregnant?"
"How do you know that?" Martin's eyelid twitched.
She smiled and said, "I just saw her at the hospital. She was waiting in line at the abortion room. Why would she be getting an abortion if she wasn't pregnant?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Martin stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray.
Mia pulled out her phone and showed him a secretly taken photo.
Martin indeed saw Victoria in the photo, sitting on a bench outside the abortion room, her expression sorrowful.
Just last night she had said over and over that she wanted to have his child, and today she went to get an abortion?
And she was hiding it from him, planning to act first and tell him later?
Martin's face took on a layer of frost.
"Martin, why do you look so upset? You didn't know? I thought you were the one who told her to get the abortion." Mia covered her mouth, deliberately acting very shocked.
Martin rose from his leather chair, grabbed his phone and car keys from the desk, and strode out of the conference room with his long legs.
"Martin, don't be angry. You need to talk to her properly!" Mia called after his back, pretending to be helpful.
But Martin left the conference room without looking back.
Seeing his expression change drastically and how urgently he was walking, Brian didn't know what had happened but hurried after him. "Mr. Collins, the meeting with the Hill Group is starting in ten minutes. You can't leave right now."
"Postpone the meeting."
Martin glanced at Brian. "You don't need to follow me."
"Yes, Mr. Collins." Brian looked confused but didn't dare disobey his order.
Brian told Aaron that the meeting had been postponed.
Aaron didn't seem surprised at all and went back to the conference room to get his coat.
As soon as he stepped into the conference room, he saw Mia holding a small mirror, applying lipstick while humming a tune.
"You're in a good mood?" Aaron walked over with one hand in his pocket.
Mia blinked her red lips and capped her lipstick. "Who would have thought that you, a little police officer, would transform into the president of the Hill Group."
"I really don't know what's wrong with you men's eyes. Victoria is just a fallen heiress. Why are you all fighting over her and getting jealous? Have all the women in the world died out? Or are you all blind?" Mia said sarcastically, looking up as Aaron walked over with his coffee, and snorted coldly. "But no matter how much you protect Victoria, it's useless. She's Martin's wife. You can only look, you can't touch!"
Aaron didn't get angry. He just slightly raised his arm holding the coffee cup.
The scalding coffee from the cup splashed onto Mia's head.
The coffee liquid ran down her hair. The makeup Mia had just applied was completely smudged, making her look utterly disheveled.
"You dare splash me? Aaron, do you know who I am? I'm the future lady of the Gonzalez Group!" Mia screamed through gritted teeth and raised her hand to slap him.
Aaron suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Perhaps because he used to be a police officer, his grip was surprisingly strong.
Mia's wrist dislocated!
"It hurts so much!" Mia screamed and struggled desperately, but couldn't break free.
Aaron curled his lip disdainfully. "Forget that you're not yet the lady of the Gonzalez Group—even if you really were, I wouldn't necessarily take you seriously! Ms. Gonzalez is kind-hearted, yet you slander her like this. It shows your heart is blacker than coal! If you dare smear Ms. Gonzalez again, I'll destroy more than just one of your hands!"
With that, Aaron suddenly released her wrist. She lost her balance and kept stepping backward. Her high heel twisted and she collapsed on the floor.
"Aaron, you're finished! I'm going to tell Martin, and he won't let you get away with this!" Mia cried through gritted teeth.
Aaron snorted coldly. "I'm waiting for him to come settle the score with me!"
Just as he reached the door.
Mia questioned, "Officer Hill, you've developed feelings for Victoria that you shouldn't have, haven't you? No wonder she was making such a fuss about divorcing Martin a while ago! There's something going on between you two!"
Aaron's back trembled slightly, but he still lifted his foot and left without lingering.
At the same time, Martin drove frantically toward the hospital.
While also making phone calls, trying to reach Victoria.
At that moment, Victoria's name was called by the nurse.
She had just walked to the abortion room when the doctor performing the procedure was putting on white gloves while sterilizing the instruments.
Victoria's phone suddenly rang.
When she saw Martin's name flashing on the screen, perhaps out of guilt, her heart suddenly started racing. Why would he suddenly call at this time? Victoria nervously swallowed.
The phone in her palm kept ringing insistently. She didn't know whether to answer or not.
