Chapter 777: Caleb
Chapter 777: Caleb
Kimberly felt a headache coming on as soon as she heard the news. Being divorced and still having to deal with the Watson family was a constant source of stress for her.
Trying to comfort Mrs. Watson, she said, "Mrs. Watson, maybe he's just in a bad mood lately. Don't confront him directly. Ignore him, and maybe he'll come around."
Amelia snorted, "I doubt it. He acts like a clueless king who has no idea what he's doing!"
Kimberly didn't know how to respond. She had no connection with Vincent anymore and had no idea how he and Laura were getting along or how Laura had influenced him.
"Don't take it to heart. Just take care of your health, and Olivia won't be able to do anything to you."
Amelia's lips tightened, and a hint of helplessness flashed in her eyes. "I'm bedridden now. I need Lexine's help just to get to the bathroom. If Olivia wants to come in, she can do it anytime when no one's around. I can't defend myself."
"And you don't know what she said today. It was outrageous. Luckily, I was quick enough to make her nose bleed. It was quite satisfying."
Kimberly was shocked but not entirely surprised. Amelia had done something similar to Laura before. Considering what Olivia had done to her, Kimberly felt a bit of satisfaction at Amelia's actions.
"Mrs. Watson, you need to stay calm and not show any anger in front of her. Otherwise, she'll think she's succeeded. Olivia's goal is to make you angry, and she knows you have a heart condition. So, what do you think her real intention is?"
Amelia was taken aback by Kimberly's words. "You mean Olivia might be trying to provoke me to death?"
Kimberly didn't confirm it directly but smiled, "It's just a guess. You've been through so much, Mrs. Watson. Think about it, and you'll figure it out."
Amelia pondered for a moment, then her expression turned vicious. "So that's Olivia's plan. She wants to anger me to death without lifting a finger. If I die from anger, she won't be held responsible, and Vincent won't acknowledge anything."
"Maybe. So, Mrs. Watson, you need to control your emotions. And although I shouldn't say this, Vincent must have his reasons for acting this way. Don't rush to confront him. See what his next move is."
After saying this, Kimberly mentally scolded herself. Had she forgotten what Vincent did to her that night? And here she was, defending him.
Besides, she was an outsider now. All she could do was offer some comfort and focus on Amelia's health. If she said the wrong thing, Amelia might betray her, and Vincent would cause more trouble.
As they talked, Amelia sighed, "I used to think Vincent was my only support, but now I can't trust him. I'm counting on Caleb to take over the Watson Group in the future. I don't want the company to fall into Olivia's hands."
Hearing Amelia place all her hopes on Caleb made Kimberly feel pressured. She didn't want Caleb to get involved in these power struggles. Although he was Vincent's son and it seemed natural for him to take over the Watson Group, Kimberly wanted Caleb to follow his own path and be happy, free from family influence.
But given Amelia's health, Kimberly chose to go along with her. "Caleb is still young. It's too early to think about this."
"Maybe, but I've already decided. My assets won't go to Vincent. Otherwise, Laura and Olivia will take everything. I'll change my will soon and leave everything to Caleb."
Kimberly was stunned. She didn't know Amelia's exact wealth, but given the Watson family's power, Amelia's assets must be worth billions. If Caleb inherited billions, he would be in constant danger. Laura and Olivia would be after them every day.
Kimberly wanted to thank Amelia but also wanted to avoid putting a target on Caleb. After hesitating, she decided not to say anything that might upset Amelia.
"Mrs. Watson, just stay calm and avoid getting angry. You'll live a long and healthy life."
Amelia sighed, "With Vincent acting like this every day, I doubt I'll live long. He'll drive me to an early grave."
"Mrs. Watson, if you can't stand him bringing friends over all the time, why not move to another property? The Watson family has plenty. It might be a nice change of scenery."
Kimberly tried to change the subject. She didn't want to keep talking about Vincent.
"I've lived here for over a decade. This is my home. I don't want to give it up. Laura's goal is clear: she wants me to leave the Watson Mansion and give up all my power. I can't let her win."
Kimberly didn't want to get involved in the Watson family's drama. If it weren't for Amelia insisting she tutor Howard, she wouldn't even step foot in the Watson Mansion. She had decided to cut ties with the Watson family after her divorce, but now she had to see them every week.
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Lexine walked in. "Ms. Sanchez, Caleb is a bit fussy. I think he might be hungry. Should I feed him?"
Kimberly checked her watch. It was time for Howard's lesson. But then she looked up, puzzled. "Didn't I bring two bottles of fresh milk this morning? You can feed him that."
Lexine looked troubled and glanced at Amelia, who said, "Kimberly, didn't I tell you? Even freshly pumped milk isn't as good as Caleb drinking directly."
