Chapter 776: Olivia's Pride
Ever since that intense showdown with Olivia in the conference room, Amelia had rarely shown up at the company. Vincent's indifference had left her feeling defeated, and the whole incident remained a mystery and a shadow over her. She couldn't understand why Vincent had changed so much after their divorce. Was he trying to get back at others or himself?
Now, seeing Olivia bring it up again, Amelia couldn't hold back any longer.
"Get out! Get out of here! You think you've won? Let me tell you, as long as I'm alive, you won't get a single cent from the Watson family!"
Olivia's eyes were fierce, her teeth clenched, and her face twisted with malice. "Mrs. Watson, stop struggling. You're practically on your deathbed. Do you really think you can still meddle in all these affairs? It's impossible."
"Just relax and enjoy your retirement. If you stop getting so worked up, you might live a few more years. Sometimes, people just anger themselves to death."
Amelia's hands trembled with rage, her chest heaving, lips turning purple. She mustered all her strength and hurled the last remaining vase at Olivia, hitting her squarely on the nose. Blood streamed from Olivia's nostrils as she crouched in pain.
Amelia's eyes blazed with fury. "As long as I'm alive, you won't get away with anything at the Watson Group!"
Olivia stood up, defiant despite the pain. "Stop being so stubborn. You won't be able to keep this up for long. Haven't you noticed how Vincent treats you now? He doesn't see you as his grandmother anymore. In his heart, I'm the most important person. Blood ties can't be changed, no matter what. Vincent is closest to me!"
"You!"
Olivia continued, "You're old now. If you can live another two years, consider yourself lucky. If you behave, I'll make sure Vincent takes good care of you. Just enjoy your retirement, drink tea, take walks. Isn't that better?"
"You have no say in the Watson family anymore. No matter how much you struggle, it's useless!"
"You!" Amelia gasped, unable to speak.
"If I were you, I'd enjoy my remaining years quietly. Stay in this house and don't meddle in anything. If you behave, you might live a bit longer!"
Just then, Lexine burst in with two bodyguards. Olivia had locked the door when she entered, and Lexine, having just returned from an errand, rushed in upon hearing Olivia was in Amelia's room for a long time.
"What are you doing?" Lexine shouted at Olivia. Seeing Olivia's bloody face and the mess on the floor, she understood immediately.
Olivia tried to twist the situation. "I came in to check on her, and she attacked me!"
Amelia, furious and breathless, pointed at Olivia, eyes wide with anger but unable to speak.
Lexine, having served Amelia for years, understood her perfectly. She quickly took Amelia's hand to comfort her and ordered the bodyguards, "Get her out of here and call the doctor. If anything happens to Mrs. Watson, she's gonna pay for it!"
"Yes, ma'am!"
The bodyguards dragged Olivia out, bloodied and struggling to hold her nose.
"Let go of me! Let go! I can walk myself! And what does her condition have to do with me?"
Lexine shut the door, blocking out the noise. She turned to Amelia, full of concern. "Mrs. Watson, are you alright? I knew Olivia would cause trouble the moment she arrived last night. I was only out for a short while this morning, and she already came up here."
Amelia's eyes still burned with anger, struggling to control her emotions. "She's a beast!"
"Mrs. Watson, I'll inform Mr. Watson."
Amelia clutched her chest, breathing heavily. "That fool won't listen. He's completely lost his mind."
Lexine's expression grew complicated. She had noticed the strange happenings at the Watson Mansion recently and was equally puzzled by Vincent's behavior.
That day, Kimberly arrived to tutor Howard. As she entered, she saw several maids cleaning up a mess in the living room, the air thick with the smell of alcohol and smoke.
Kimberly could guess what had happened. A maid she was friendly with approached her, and Kimberly asked, "What's going on?"
"Mr. Watson has been throwing parties every night, playing music, drinking, and playing cards until the early hours. We can't eat or sleep properly and have to clean up their mess every morning. By the time we're done, it's already noon, and we have to start cooking again. We have no time to rest during the day."
Kimberly was surprised. She thought Vincent would have stopped after the last incident, but it seemed he had only gotten worse. She felt uneasy, remembering how Amelia had scolded Vincent after that night. Why was he still behaving this way?
With these questions in mind, Kimberly went upstairs and ran into Lexine, who took Caleb from her with a loving smile. "Seeing Caleb always brightens my day."
Kimberly smiled back and asked, "Is Mrs. Watson alright?"
Lexine's expression turned sorrowful. She sighed, "Ms. Sanchez, you should check on Mrs. Watson. She fell ill after Mr. Watson upset her a few days ago and is still bedridden."
Kimberly's eyes widened in surprise. She went to Amelia's room, where the elderly woman, looking distressed, almost burst into tears upon seeing her. Amelia clutched Kimberly's hand, complaining incessantly.
"If only you hadn't divorced Vincent."
