The Sunrise Group was expanding into Newport, so they needed to hire a batch of new employees. They wanted to include some locals to better understand the area.

David never expected Chloe to apply for an office clerk position. Her name was etched deeply in his memory. To be honest, David felt he owed Chloe.

David's family was poor, while Chloe's was well-off. In high school, Chloe had financially supported David. Even his freshman and sophomore year tuition at Imperial University was paid by Chloe. However, David only felt gratitude towards Chloe, not love. But Chloe had always liked him.

When David started college, he fell for Bella. After successfully pursuing Bella, he distanced himself from Chloe. Chloe had attempted suicide three times because of this. Thinking back, David still felt guilty.

Among the applicants, there were many more qualified than Chloe. But to make up for the past, David altered the HR application forms. Chloe went from applying for a clerk position to being appointed as the Vice President of Sunrise Group, overseeing the HR and PR departments, reporting directly to David.

Vice President-level positions required David's personal interview to finalize. But David had already made his decision. This decision shocked his subordinates. But no one dared to question it. They simply informed Chloe to report to Imperial immediately.

Chloe had just settled down in the south when she received the job offer from Sunrise Group. She knew about the company and applied with a "why not" attitude. She never expected to get the job. When she received the call, she almost cried.

"Benedict, Bella, I'm coming back to Newport. This time, I'm on top."

Returning as the Vice President of a major domestic conglomerate's Newport branch, with a $2 million annual salary, bonuses, a house, and a Mercedes. She quickly booked another flight from the south to Imperial.

Standing before the towering headquarters of Sunrise Group's southwest region, Chloe felt insignificant. She dressed meticulously, hoping to make a good impression on the CEO. She also hoped to climb higher in the company with her abilities and looks. She was still a virgin, which she considered an asset. She wouldn't give it up easily. Unless she could attach herself to a wealthy man within the company.

In her mind, the CEO had to be at least in his forties or fifties. When she opened the door, Chloe was completely stunned. In the lavishly decorated office, behind the desk, sat a young, handsome man. Dressed impeccably. With a gentle demeanor. And a particularly fair complexion.

Chloe's mind went blank, and she stood there, frozen.

David smiled, "Chloe, long time no see. How have you been?"

"I..."

Chloe's grievances, anger, and feelings of betrayal by David all surged up. Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

"Why is it you? How have I been? Where were you when that scumbag Benedict was bullying me?"

She lost control, stomping her feet and waving her fists. The most direct pain came from Benedict, and she just blurted it out.

David felt a pang of discomfort. Facing this beautiful, sexy old acquaintance with a tear-streaked face, he felt uneasy. He stood up and handed her a tissue, "Don't cry. Wipe your tears, and let's talk."

He then turned and personally poured Chloe a glass of water.

Chloe, still in a daze, wiped her tears and looked at David. She couldn't believe he had reached such a high-paying position.

David handed her the water. "Chloe, thank you for your kindness back then. I have no way to repay you, so I promoted you from a clerk to Vice President as some compensation."

"Compensation?" Chloe held the water, her face full of bitterness, shaking her head. "David, I never expected to meet you here. You've done well for yourself."

"Life is unpredictable. There's always a way out. Returning to Newport is my dream. Besides developing Sunrise Group, dealing with Benedict is also my goal."

Chloe felt a surge of adrenaline. "Great! I'll work hard for Sunrise Group and help you deal with Benedict! I hate that scumbag!"

"What happened? Come, sit down and tell me."

Chloe was cunning. Of course, she didn't dare mention being punished by Benedict for mistreating Susie. She only said that Benedict was a scumbag, a madman, who slapped her, threw her into a cold pool, and used his connections to force her to wash dishes in a high-end restaurant. As she spoke, tears fell, making her look pitiful.

David listened silently, observing her, making his own judgments. He knew Chloe was no longer the pure girl she once was. She was hiding something. But David didn't want to ask. Making up for her and teaching Benedict a lesson required Chloe. A cunning woman could get things done. Without cunning, how could one survive in this world?

In the end, everyone was happy. Especially David, who promised her a brand-new Mercedes S600 when she started her job in Newport. Chloe was overjoyed. The car was one of her dreams. It seemed David was sincere in making it up to her.

Chloe even felt a bit of her old feelings returning and asked, "David, are you married?"

"Busy with work, not yet."

"Oh."

"Alright, Chloe. I have other employees to meet. You go to the company hotel and rest. Prepare to receive your car tomorrow. Remember, in private, you can call me David."

"In public, of course, I'll call you Mr. Clark." Chloe smiled, full of charm, her mind working quickly.

"Good, thank you!"

David nodded, satisfied.

At four in the afternoon, he received an email. David opened it and was delighted. His subordinates were efficient, making him very pleased. He also enjoyed the thrill of power. A cold smile appeared on his face.

He then headed to the Imperial Fashion Trade Show to meet Bella. It was the last day of the trade show. Vivid Apparel Factory had successfully completed their tasks and secured many orders. When David arrived, Vivid Apparel Factory's booth was being packed up. Bella was also packing.

Seeing David, she blushed, feeling a bit awkward. Because the factory manager, Piper, glanced between her and David, then smiled and said he was going to the restroom.

At that moment, a director shamelessly approached. "Bella, I'm making a movie and want you to be the lead actress. The pay is $2 million..."

"Why did you hit me?" The director was upset and angry.
