Chapter 134 Bad Influence
Chapter 134 Bad Influence
The director, a man nearing middle age, had quite a temper.
Pointing right at David's nose, he barked, "Who do you think you are? We're a film company under the Sunrise Group. You really wanna mess with the Sunrise Group?"
Bella glanced at the guy with sympathy.
David raised an eyebrow, "Oh, really?"
"Yeah, really! You mess with someone from the Sunrise Group, you're asking for trouble," the director said arrogantly, hands on his hips.
David waved his hand backward.
Immediately, two burly men stepped out from the shadows.
Albert, watching from the sidelines, chuckled to himself.
This director was truly clueless.
In no time, the two burly men dragged the director away.
The director shouted, "I'm from the Southwest Division of the Sunrise Group! Are you blind or something..."
Before he could finish, he was tossed into a large dumpster.
One of the burly men stepped on his chest and said coldly, "The man you just insulted is Mr. Clark, the Executive President of the Southwest Division of the Sunrise Group. As of now, you're fired. Get lost!"
"What? This..."
The director, sitting in the dumpster, was completely stunned.
After a while, he climbed out, his face full of despair, and tried to rush over to beg David, "Oh my God, Mr. Clark, I didn't recognize you."
But one of the burly men shouted, "Get lost! You're not worthy of approaching him!"
The director had no choice but to leave in disgrace.
This was just a minor episode.
David didn't care and said to Bella, "Bella, let's go. Let's have dinner at my café. I know you're heading back to Newport tomorrow."
He was very gentle.
His expression was sincere.
Bella felt a bit uncomfortable and said, "No, David, I still have things to pack. Plus, my colleagues are waiting for a farewell dinner."
"But I have something very important to show you, something serious about your husband, Benedict," David said, his face slightly serious.
Bella was shocked.
Anything involving Benedict still concerned her.
After all, Benedict had changed so much.
Why was all this happening?
Her colleagues were watching too!
She couldn't just ignore something about her husband, right?
That would give people something to talk about.
She cared about that too.
In David's café, the two of them sat down.
Albert's surveillance was still in place. He was quite professional at this.
David said, "Bella, Benedict's Maybach was won in a bet with Kenneth and Dennis."
"What? He's still gambling?" Bella's face turned pale, her heart trembling.
"To be precise, Benedict did invest in stocks and made a profit. But he made a bet with Kenneth, who then involved Dennis. If he won, fine. If he lost, you would belong to Kenneth or Dennis. Benedict is such a scumbag, he even used you as a bet!"
David's usually pale face turned red with anger.
His voice wasn't loud, but he was gritting his teeth.
Bella's face turned ashen.
She didn't know what to say.
Her already shattered heart, which had just begun to heal, broke again.
"What kind of person uses his wife as a bet?" David said with disdain and anger. "And your Bentley, Jessica's Audi A8, Eugene's BMW 7, do you know? They were all won in bets with Kenneth, Dennis, and Ralph, his old gambling buddies. At that time..."
As he spoke, David opened a tablet.
It contained relevant information.
There was also a recording of Dennis's own words.
Bella would never forget Dennis's voice.
Looking at the information and listening to the recording, Bella felt a headache coming on.
Her chest felt tight.
Tears flowed uncontrollably.
It felt like the sky hadn't fallen, but her world had certainly darkened.
Benedict still hadn't changed his gambling ways!
Luckily, he won. If he had lost, what would have become of this family?
Bella might have already become someone else's plaything.
Oh God, why is he still like this?
She felt heartbroken, tears streaming down, her expression numb as before.
David watched, his heart aching.
He took a tissue and gently wiped her tears.
"I'm sorry, Bella. I shouldn't have revealed these things to hurt you. That scumbag has already hurt you too deeply. But I don't want you to continue being deceived by a gambler."
Bella took a deep breath, grabbed the tissue box, and wiped her tears herself.
As she wiped, more tears flowed.
The more she wiped, the more they flowed.
Even Albert, watching from the shadows, felt a bit sorry.
He also resented Benedict a bit.
Why use Bella as a bet?
But he won.
Still, it was a terrible thing to do.
After a long while, David said gently, "Bella, there's more information you haven't heard."
David was referring to Dennis saying that Benedict had bet again in a golf match and won two villas.
Bella shook her head, handed the tablet back, covered her ears, and said sadly, "I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear anything more about him."
David was a bit frustrated, too.
How could Benedict win two villas? He had more villas than David now.
Fine, if she didn't want to hear it.
So, he closed the tablet and said, "Don't be sad. That scumbag won't have good days for long. I'm officially returning to Newport. Besides the Sunrise Group's development in Newport, teaching Benedict a lesson is my goal. Tell me, do you want to divorce him, or what? He's hit you so many times. Should I cripple him? Or throw him in jail for life?"
His last words were quite harsh.
Albert, listening, felt a bit of a chill.
This David wasn't a good person either!
At least Benedict hadn't committed murder.
And he did win everything back.
It was gambling, but not card games.
He was also dedicated to the Forbes family.
His temper was surprisingly good.
Bella didn't respond.
Even though she still resented Benedict.
But Benedict's changes, his goodness, also came to mind.
It was too torturous for her.
She could only say, "David, stop talking about this. I need some peace. I need time, I need time."
"Okay, okay. I won't say anymore. Bella, I'll listen to you. You need time, I'll give you time. Believe that time can reveal a person's true heart, and also their evil deeds. Shall we eat?"
The dinner wasn't very pleasant.
After dinner, David suggested she take his car back to Newport the next day.
Bella declined, saying it wouldn't look good. If Benedict found out, who knows what would happen?
David said, "Don't be afraid of him. What's there to fear about a scumbag? I can make him suffer endlessly."
His tone was low.
His eyes were a bit sinister.
Bella felt that David had changed, too, becoming somewhat scary.
But she pleaded, "Don't do anything rash! My mind is already a mess. Can you let me have some peace? My family has only been peaceful for a few days."
David had to give up, but still wanted to see Bella back at her hotel.
Bella refused, walking back alone in a daze.
David wanted to follow, but didn't.
He silently watched her desolate figure until she disappeared at the intersection.
David clenched his fists and said coldly, "Scumbag, you've ruined Bella like this. You're dead!"
Albert, in the shadows, hesitated for a moment, then dialed Benedict's number.
