Chapter 132 The Powerful Ex-Boyfriend

Chapter 132 The Powerful Ex-Boyfriend

David's lips were trembling slightly.

It was clear he was speaking.

But in the video, Benedict couldn't make out the words.

Yet he understood that David was saying something harsh.

Benedict got it.

David must hate scum like Benedict.

Just then, a custom-made, extra-long Mercedes-Benz pulled up.

At least seven yards long, it picked up David and drove away.

That was the end of Albert's surveillance report.

Benedict looked out at the night sky, took a deep breath, and smiled faintly.

At that moment, Albert's message came through.

"Mr. Capulet, David has become quite formidable. I didn't follow him home, but his final expression sent a very dangerous signal. It might not bode well for you."

Benedict replied, "Thanks for the hard work, Albert. Bella's ex-boyfriend has turned into quite a tough character. I should congratulate him. After all, only someone like that is worthy of being my wife's ex."

Albert was a bit puzzled. What kind of mindset was this?

"Mr. Capulet, aren't you worried at all?"

"Let him come. If he competes with me fairly, so be it. If he uses underhanded tactics, even if Bella wants to get back with him, I won't let him succeed easily."

"Mr. Capulet, you still have feelings for Bella! But from what I see, even though David has gotten stronger, he doesn't have your level of magnanimity."

"Don't flatter me, Albert. I'll get a big head. Get some rest; you've worked hard. When you get back, I'll treat you to a good meal."

"You're too kind. Good night."

Benedict remained calm and unhurried.

He got up and checked on Jessica in the master bedroom.

Under the dim sleep light, her face was serene.

He quietly checked her condition.

Her warm wrist and delicate skin made his heart flutter.

Benedict quickly composed himself and assessed her health.

Her internal energy and blood flow were very stable.

Her pulse was strong and steady, and the baby was developing well.

In a few days, even the morning sickness might disappear.

That was certainly a good thing.

Benedict then returned to the couch and lay down comfortably.

He had no idea.

In Imperial, David had already given orders to his subordinates.

"Investigate thoroughly. How does a bankrupt Benedict have a Maybach, a Bentley, a BMW, and a Mercedes?"

"I need a complete report on his lifestyle."

"Everything must be backed by solid evidence!"

David, the executive president of the Southwest division of Sunrise Group, had quite a few capable people under him.

That night, someone rushed to Newport.

David gave orders to the head of the planning department: "Effective immediately, Sunrise Group is entering Newport! By New Year's 2010, I want to be back in Newport officially!"

Benedict had no idea what David was planning.

He knew David would seek revenge and try to win back Bella, and that was enough.

The next evening, after dinner, Benedict said he needed to go home to get something.

Jessica didn't suspect anything and stayed home with Susie, putting her to bed.

Benedict returned to the old, rundown neighborhood.

He parked outside Elise's The Poker House.

Elise, with a cigarette in her mouth, was playing mahjong with some people.

Seeing Benedict return, Elise immediately stopped playing, tossed her cigarette, and came out.

"Hey, Benedict, you're back! Haven't seen you in days. Where are you working now?" she asked, handing him a Camel cigarette with an unusually warm smile.

The neighbors and mahjong players were stunned. Everyone knew Elise usually couldn't stand Benedict. Today, Elise was acting very strange, so friendly? Oh, it must be because of Benedict's car. Did he really come into some money?

Benedict took the cigarette and said, "Ms. Baker, I need to talk. Can we go upstairs?"

"Sure, Benedict, anything you need."

Inside Benedict's place, Elise kept nodding. "Look at this old place, so neat and tidy! Benedict, you've really turned things around. Bella is lucky!"

Benedict smiled and got straight to the point. "Ms. Baker, do you know Economic Electronics Factory?"

"Of course, Bella works there. The owner, Rosa Blair, was my middle school classmate. The factory was built on our village's collective land, approved by my dad."

"Good, that makes things easier," Benedict thought, relieved that his memory was accurate.

"Benedict, why are you asking about this?"

"Does that land have a title deed?"

"No, the title is still with our village. Some villagers still work there. Only the site and facilities are theirs."

Benedict nodded. "I see. Recently, a friend's company wants to develop that land, so..."

Elise got excited. "That's easy! Talk to my brother; he handles approvals. Just requisition it. The buildings and small office aren't worth much, maybe a few million dollars in compensation."

"But your middle school classmate wants sixty million dollars."

Elise's eyes widened, and she slammed the table. "What? Rosa's asking for that much? Why not ask for six hundred million?"

"That's why I came to you. It's for my friend. I don't have many friends, and I want to help."

"Alright! I'll take care of it tomorrow. Leave it to me!"

"Thank you, Ms. Baker."

"No need to thank me, Benedict. You're a great friend to the Baker family. My dad always talks about treating you to a meal."

"You're too kind."

With the matter settled, Benedict left satisfied. In life, sometimes you have to use your connections. Otherwise, dealing with someone like Rosa would be a hassle. Life should be a bit easier.

Driving back to Jessica's, he got a call from Heidi. Heidi was excited, saying she had an interview at a real estate company, and Daisy offered her double her previous salary, with high bonuses.

Benedict said that was great and encouraged her to work hard.

Heidi asked, "Benedict, how do you know Ms. Palmer?"

"Our kids are in the same kindergarten class."

"Really? Are you free tomorrow night? I'd like to treat you to dinner to say thanks."

"Dinner isn't necessary. Just achieving your goals and dreams is enough."

"You sound so much more refined now! Benedict, you've really changed."

"People change. As long as it's for the better. Get some sleep; I'm almost there."

"Okay."

Meanwhile, in Imperial, at David's villa. In his study, he opened the recruitment files from HR on his computer, needing his approval. He saw a familiar name: Chloe.
