Chapter 816 Win Over
Chapter 816 Win Over
After a long time, Preston slowly calmed down.
Losing the Mitchell Family, he still had other options. It just felt too easy for Paul, and he was a bit unwilling to accept it.
But it didn't matter. Even if Paul became the Mitchell Family's son-in-law, so what? Joseph's most favored heir was him. He was the general manager of the Thomas Group, holding the real power in the company, while Paul was nothing.
Preston left the hospital with a grim face.
Time was running out. He needed to quickly recruit new talent for the company so that when the bet ended, he could teach Paul a harsh lesson and completely crush him!
Paul took Christina to a restaurant.
"Honey, please sit." Paul pulled out a chair for her.
Hearing his call, Christina paused, feeling a slight tickle in her heart.
"Order whatever you like. Today, your husband is treating." Paul handed her the menu.
Christina gave him a strange look. "Did you take some kind of stimulant?"
'Why do I feel like Paul is a bit too happy?' Christina wondered.
"No, I'm just happy thinking about our future." Paul smiled, looking a bit silly, his eyes curved into crescents.
Christina's heart was struck.
Paul asked, "Honey, are you looking forward to it?"
Christina remained silent. She didn't really want to answer Paul. She had some expectations for their future, but more than that, it was a sense of excitement. After all, everything had happened so quickly.
After eating, Paul took Christina back to the hospital and then drove himself to the company.
He hadn't been to the company for many days, and everyone thought that this playboy Paul had finally given up and gone home to his mother.
Unexpectedly, Paul showed up today. Ignoring the strange looks from everyone, Paul pretended not to see them. He went to his office, ran a finger lightly over the desk, and it came away with a layer of dust.
Paul's lips curled slightly. He raised his hand elegantly and swept it across a pile of documents.
The assistant who was bringing him coffee was startled, spilling a bit and almost burning his hand.
"Mr. Watson." The assistant looked at him cautiously, not knowing why Paul was angry at this time. It was really tough for the employees.
The assistant was Holden's assistant. Although someone at Paul's deputy manager level could have an assistant, the HR department had completely ignored this matter, so Paul had to use Holden's assistant. Anyway, Holden didn't dare to say anything.
Paul swept all the documents off the desk, making a noise loud enough for people outside to hear.
Someone stood up and peeked over. Soon, the commotion of Paul throwing things alerted Holden.
Holden hurried over. "Mr. Watson, don't be angry, please don't be angry." These were all company property, after all.
Paul secretly rolled his eyes. He was almost about to smash the computer before Holden arrived.
He sat down in the chair and raged, "Is this how you treat my office when I'm not here?"
Holden and the others looked confused.
"Look for yourselves, there is too much dust!" Paul glared at them fiercely.
Holden wiped the desk with his hand. There was indeed some dust, but not much.
Just for such a small matter, Paul almost trashed the entire office. His temper was really explosive.
A few people coaxed Paul nicely and quickly called in the cleaning staff to tidy up the office.
This matter was soon reported to Joseph by Holden.
Joseph snorted coldly upon hearing it. "Let him do some work in the future, simple tasks will do."
Holden found Joseph's reaction a bit strange. 'Shouldn't Joseph be furious and scold Paul harshly?'
He didn't dare to ask more and went to Preston's office afterward.
For the next two days, Paul had an easy time at the company, clocking in and out on time. He didn't do the tasks that Holden gave him, only looking at and signing documents that required his approval.
To pass the time, he wandered around various departments, exploring every floor of the Thomas Group building.
From the executive office to even the janitors' break room, Paul visited them all.
Everyone shook their heads at this playboy Paul, who didn't do any serious work. And yet, he dared to propose a bet to become the general manager.
If Joseph really handed the company over to someone like Paul, it would be doomed sooner or later.
Fortunately, Joseph had an illegitimate son, Preston, who was very capable and already the general manager. During his tenure, the company's revenue had increased over the past two years, and their bonuses had also increased significantly.
Privately, everyone compared Preston and Paul, and the more they compared, the more they felt Preston was excellent, so they all supported Preston.
Paul was completely unafraid, not caring at all.
Before the bet's deadline, news suddenly spread in the company that Preston was going to marry into the local wealthy Edwards Family.
'Would such a family really look favorably upon someone like Preston?' they wondered.
It seemed Preston had used some means again.
At the afternoon meeting, Paul saw the smile on Joseph's face and knew that the rumor was probably true.
As a result, the previously undecided shareholders began to support Preston.
Recently, Preston had been getting close to these shareholders.
Tonight, he specifically invited two of them to dinner, getting their definite answers at the restaurant.
"We are very willing to support you, but don't forget the bet. What if Paul really brings in technical talent?"
Preston chuckled lightly. "Don't worry, I've already contacted two high-end technical talents. They've agreed to my terms and will join the Thomas Group. And Paul, do you think he can recruit any technical talent?"
The two shareholders exchanged a glance and shook their heads.
Paul did nothing all day at the company, never seriously considering the company's interests.
The two shareholders made up their minds to side with Preston.
Preston successfully won over the two shareholders. After chatting and drinking, he had his assistant send them to a hotel to rest.
He remained in the private room, sipping his drink slowly.
Christina had packed her things, and Paul was already waiting.
Seeing her finally come out with her suitcase, Paul immediately went up to help with it.
Then they said goodbye to Gaia and her husband together.
Gaia hugged Christina, and Gaia's wife gently patted her shoulder. "It's so close, Christina can come over anytime, and you can go see Christina too."
Gaia let go of Christina.
Christina said, "Auntie, we're leaving."
Gaia replied, "Okay, I'll see you to the door."
Paul put the suitcase in the trunk, then got into the driver's seat. Christina also got into the passenger seat and waved to Gaia and her husband.
Even though they were just moving from here to another villa, less than a mile away, Christina still felt a sense of reluctance. 'Is it because I am married now?' She thought in mind.
