Chapter 810 Divorce Made Easy

Chapter 810 Divorce Made Easy

"Help!" Christina's shout was cut off as someone covered her mouth.

Caught off guard, she lost the chance. Both her hands were restrained, and the assailant had an accomplice. They had been lying in wait; as soon as her car stopped, the other person came around from behind her vehicle.

The two of them worked together to restrain Christina's hands and feet.

Christina struggled violently, trying to shake off the person holding her legs.

"Fuck, this woman is strong!" One of the assailants cursed and took out a rope to tie Christina's feet.

Christina struggled even harder.

She managed to free one foot and kicked the person hard in the chin.

The person, in pain, instinctively let go of Christina's other leg.

Christina landed on the ground and took the opportunity to throw the person restraining her from behind over her shoulder. The tall, burly man was swiftly thrown to the ground by her.

A car approached from behind, its high beams blinding the two assailants who were about to attack Christina again.

"Fuck, someone's coming, let's go." One of the men shouted, and they ran into the woods on either side.

"Stop!" Christina shouted deliberately. She wouldn't chase after them; who knew if they had more accomplices in the woods.

A person got out of the approaching car.

"Miss Mitchell!" Preston ran over, looking shocked and nervously checking Christina from head to toe. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. They didn't succeed. Luckily, your car scared them off." Christina's face was cold, looking calm, but she was actually quite shaken inside.

If they had used a drug when they covered her mouth, no amount of fighting skills would have helped.

And judging by their methods, it seemed like they were unprepared and just decided to commit a crime on a whim. It was unclear whether they were after money or something else.

Preston hadn't expected her to be so calm, and she had just taken down two tall men by herself.

This was a stark contrast to the last time when she was chased by assailants and seemed like a frightened, weak woman.

Christina took out her phone from the car, about to call the police, when another car approached.

Her heart skipped a beat, worried it might be reinforcements for the two men.

As it got closer, she saw it was a Maserati.

The car stopped beside them. The door opened, and a pair of long legs stepped out, revealing Paul's handsome face.

Paul asked, "Why are you stopping here? Car trouble?"

Paul walked around the front of the car.

Christina replied, "No, there was an attack here just now."

Paul's eyes widened in shock. He looked at Christina with concern, scanning her to make sure she was okay, and then relaxed.

"Where are they?" he asked.

"They ran off." Christina pointed in the direction the two assailants had fled.

Paul immediately stepped aside to make a phone call.

Preston frowned deeply. While Paul was on the phone, he said to Christina, "Let me take you home. We can have someone come for the car later."

Christina said, "No need. Those two probably won't come back."

Preston wanted to say more, but Paul finished his call and walked over, naturally taking Christina's hand. "Let's go, get in my car."

Christina didn't refuse.

"By the way," Paul suddenly stopped. "You just encountered assailants, and he showed up? He also happened to be there when your house was broken into last time? Quite the coincidence, isn't it?"

He was speaking to Christina but also making a point to Preston.

Preston's heart raced, and he clenched his fists, resisting the urge to punch Paul, wanting to explain to Christina.

Christina said, "It is quite the coincidence, Mr. Thomas. I'll leave now."

With that, Christina took Paul's hand and walked away.

Paul turned the car around and drove off with Christina, while his driver took Christina's car keys and drove her car away.

Preston was left alone. He stood in front of his car, the headlights casting a long shadow. Preston lowered his head slightly, his face expressionless, eyes deep in thought.

"When did you get back?" Christina asked casually in the car.

Paul said, "An hour ago."

"How did you know about the break-in at my house?"

"I heard about it."

Christina looked at him inquisitively. "What did you mean by what you said earlier?"

The car moved slowly down the road, the window half-open, the wind blowing through Paul's hair.

"Preston is trying to sabotage our engagement and marry you himself. Whether tonight's incident was an accident, we'll know once we catch those two."

Christina frowned. She wasn't stupid. Paul had made it clear enough for her to understand. "Are you saying tonight was all a setup by Preston?"

Paul didn't deny it. He turned the steering wheel, and the car entered a villa area, finally stopping at the entrance of the Wallace Villa.

Christina didn't rush to get out. She nervously gripped the strap of her canvas bag.

Paul didn't rush her. After two minutes, Christina exhaled deeply, "I agree to the marriage you mentioned."

Paul's lips curled into a slight smile, and he reached into his pocket to pull out a ring.

Christina's eyes widened. "You even have a ring ready?"

"I was planning to ask for your answer tomorrow and give it to you then," Paul said with a smile in his voice.

Christina was silent.

"This is an engagement ring. I'll get separate rings for the engagement and the wedding." Paul raised his chin. "Shall I put it on you?"

Christina felt a strange sensation. She extended her hand. Her hands were slightly wrinkled from frequent use of hand sanitizer.

As she extended her hand, she realized and instinctively wanted to pull it back, not wanting him to see her wrinkled hands.

Paul grabbed her wrist and, without hesitation, slipped the ring onto her finger. "Do you like it?"

Seeing that he didn't mind her hands at all, Christina felt happy.

The diamond ring sparkled under the car's interior light.

Christina couldn't help but smile. "It's quite beautiful."

"I'll talk to my parents. Do you need me to come with you to talk to yours?"

Christina thought for a moment. "I'm only temporarily in Country Y for a medical exchange. I'll be going back in a little over two months. My parents are back home, so I'll call them about this."

Paul raised an eyebrow slightly, realizing that in two months, he and Christina would be in different countries. "Since it's a contractual marriage, we won't have a wedding for now. But if you want one, we can pick a date."

"No wedding," Christina agreed. It wasn't the right time for a wedding with Paul.

"We'll register the marriage in Country Y. That way, it will be easier to handle the divorce later."

Christina agreed.

Seeing that she had no objections to his arrangements and no personal ideas or demands, Paul didn't know why he felt a bit uncomfortable.
