Chapter 811 Registering for Marriage
Chapter 811 Registering for Marriage
The next day, Christina was getting ready for work. After saying goodbye to Gaia, she saw a familiar car parked at the door.
Paul stuck his head out of the car. "Get in."
Christina glanced back, then swiftly got into the passenger seat.
Paul asked, "Did you bring everything?"
Christina nodded, "Yes."
"Let's go!" Paul started the engine cheerfully.
They arrived at the local marriage registration office. Paul had already made arrangements, and they followed the process smoothly, registering their marriage. "From now on, you're my wife."
Christina felt dizzy, wondering if she had been too hasty.
Paul took her hand. "Come on, let's go buy rings." He then took her to the largest jewelry mall in the area.
Christina picked out two rings, one for the engagement and one for the wedding.
"Even though we're already married, I should still give you these things." Paul pointed to the counter staff. "This one, this one, that one, and that one, pack them all up for me."
"Why are you buying so many?" Christina finally snapped out of her daze.
Paul replied, "Gifts for your parents and your aunt's family."
Christina gave Paul a deep look. 'Is this really just a marriage of convenience? Why does it feel like Paul is serious?'
"By the way, doesn't your aunt have a daughter? I don't know what style she likes, you pick." Paul continued.
"You don't know what girls like?" Christina blurted out.
Paul looked like someone who was good at pleasing girls, with a rich dating history. He must have bought a lot of things to make girls happy before.
Paul grinned and leaned in close. "If I said I was good at it, would you be jealous?"
Christina widened her eyes and turned her head away. "No."
Paul chuckled softly and asked the counter staff to recommend two styles, letting Christina choose one in the end.
After leaving the jewelry mall, Paul took Christina to look at clothes. "As your new husband, I must take you to buy some clothes."
Before Christina could say anything, Paul had already asked the sales assistant to bring several outfits for her to try on.
Christina rarely went shopping and didn't particularly enjoy it. Today, she was dragged around by Paul, feeling dizzy and just going along with whatever he said. As for what they bought and how much he paid, she had no idea because Paul picked everything and paid directly.
Last night, Christina had taken a leave from Knox to handle the marriage registration today. She thought today would be ordinary, if not romantic, but she didn't expect Paul to drag her around shopping until her legs were sore.
"Let's go eat," Paul said.
Christina's eyes lit up. Finally, food.
Paul said, "The restaurant is only 0.5 miles away, let's walk."
"What?" Christina was in despair, more walking? She had never seen a man who could shop as much as Paul.
Paul's handsome face leaned in. "What's wrong? Can't you walk anymore? Do you want me to carry you?"
Christina was about to say no, but Paul had already squatted down in front of her. Looking at his broad back, Christina's heart pounded like climbing stairs.
"Hop on." Paul urged.
Christina's tightly pressed lips unconsciously curved into a small smile. She reached out and climbed onto Paul's back.
Paul easily lifted her up and even gave a little bounce. "Didn't expect you to look sturdy but be so light to carry."
Christina was speechless. 'Is he complimenting me for being slim or calling me fat?'
"Hurry up, I'm hungry," Christina said.
They had bought a lot of things, and Paul had already arranged for someone to send them home.
The 0.5-mile walk didn't even make Paul break a sweat as he carried Christina to the restaurant.
"Put me down." At the restaurant entrance, Christina wanted to get down.
They had already been seen by many people on the way; she didn't want to continue being stared at inside the restaurant.
Paul didn't let go and carried her straight in. The waiter opened the door for them, looking surprised and amused. Christina buried her head in Paul's neck, feeling very shy.
Paul considerately placed Christina on a chair, making sure she didn't have to walk a single step since leaving the mall.
"So, am I a good husband or what?" Paul smugly raised his chin.
Christina glared at him. 'We have agreed on a marriage of mutual agreement, but after registering, Paul seemed to have changed? Like it was a real marriage.' Christina couldn't help but question Paul's motives in her heart.
The waiter brought the menu, and Paul handed it to Christina. "You order, I'm not picky." Christina took it and ordered two steaks. Paul added a bottle of red wine.
Christina took out her phone. "How much did we spend today? I'll split it with you."
Paul's expression changed slightly, and he said seriously, "You agreeing to marry me is already a huge favor, so all today's expenses are on me."
"If you do this, it will be hard to settle things when we divorce."
"Then we won't settle it." Paul looked very generous, leaving Christina speechless.
Paul raised his wine glass. "Cheers to our new marriage."
Christina, feeling complicated, clinked glasses with him. The clear sound seemed to tell her that from now on, there would be a man in her life.
"Tonight, I'll take you to meet my brother."
"You mean Nicholas?"
Paul nodded, "Yes."
Christina and Paul spent the whole day out, and by evening, Paul drove her back to his villa. Caroline and the housekeeper had prepared a table full of dishes.
When Nicholas told Caroline that Paul was bringing his wife for dinner, she was stunned. Yes, not girlfriend, but wife. Without even dating properly, Paul had gotten married. The speed was like lightning. Caroline was shocked but also happy that Paul had found his happiness.
The sound of a car engine came from outside, and Caroline wiped her hands. "I'll leave the rest to you."
The housekeeper responded.
Caroline walked to the living room just as Paul and Christina came in.
"Caroline." Paul took out a pair of slippers for Christina from the cabinet.
Christina saw Caroline and was amazed. 'So beautiful! So elegant! Are all violinists this beautiful?'
Christina loved appreciating beautiful things and people. She couldn't take her eyes off the gentle and graceful Caroline.
Paul saw her dazed look and squatted down, gently lifting one of her feet to help her change shoes.
"Caroline, this is my wife, Christina Mitchell." After helping Christina change her shoes, Paul led her forward to introduce them, "Christina, this is my sister-in-law, you can call her Caroline like I do."
Christina snapped out of it, "Caroline."
