CHAPTER NINETY

"What's that on your neck?" Axle asked in alarm, and my hand went up to my neck immediately.
"What's what?" I asked, trying to feel the spot he was talking about.
"T-there's a black mark on your neck." He said, and I gasped, slapping my hand over my neck.
What is it with me and having neck marks?
"Are you serious?" I asked, and he pulled out a hand mirror from my bag and handed it to me.
"Take a look." He said and pointed into the mirror.
I adjusted the mirror for a bit, and then I saw it, it was a faint dark mark on my neck.
"Is this it?" I sighed in relief. "It's probably from anxiety, I've been scratching my neck recently."
"Are you certain?" He asked, his hands rubbing circles on my neck. I could not see his eyes, but from his voice, he did not believe a word I had just spoken.
I couldn't care about that right now because his touch felt nice on my neck, I closed my eyes and moaned, leaning into his touch.
"Lexi." He said firmly, and my eyes fluttered open. Only then did I realize that there were other people around us and that we needed to keep on moving.
I looked into his eyes and could see longing clear as day in them, he wanted me as much as I wanted him.
I didn't think we would be able to wait till prom night, in fact, I didn't want to wait anymore.
Lex and I went home immediately after we left the airport, we had missed Mom, and we knew that she would have missed us a lot too. Axle and Mina also went home together. We would meet tomorrow, but for the rest of the day, we decided to have the day to ourselves, besides, the day was already halfway gone already.
"Mom." I raced up the porch and threw the door open without bothering to knock.
"Hunny!" She exclaimed and opened her arms.
"Mama," I mimicked a southern greeting and jumped into her arms.
I was super excited to see her because I had missed her, but it kind of felt extra like I was overexcited or something.
"Okay, hun, you really missed me, didn't you?" She laughed as I jumped into her arms. "I missed you more, baby."
"Hey, Mom," Lex greeted and walked past us into the house.
"I don't get a hug, you didn't miss me?" My mother asked and pouted like a little child.
"Of course, I missed you, Mom, but I don't want to compete in a hugging contest with your baby over there." He laughed and pointed at me. "Baby," he teased.
"Whatever," I said, sticking my tongue out at him. He was always acting like I was the only baby, but he couldn't stop talking about Mom on the way home.
That night, I tried some of the spells Reyah taught me, but nothing seemed to be working. I was worried, but I figured since she was not around maybe I couldn't cast magic. I don't know, I think I just told myself something to stop me from worrying.

"Tell me everything that happened," Elric demanded immediately as I entered the pack house.
"She was missing for almost two days, and then we found her at the beach. " I did not bother to ask him how he knew that something had happened, I had learned not to ask a long time ago.
He had eyes in the sky.
"Have you or Lexi heard from Reyah?" he asked.
"No, she hasn't come back yet," I replied to him with a question of my own, I assumed that she would have been back by now.
We had all missed her greatly, and we also needed her help greatly.
"No, you know who did it, don't you?" He shoved his hands into his pocket and turned away from me.
"Yes, it has to be the yellow moon pack," I answered. We didn't like to mention Emil, the man bothered us and troubled us greatly.
"You're right, you know what this means, don't you?" He asked, and yes, I knew what it meant, it meant that playtime was over.
"Yes." I nodded. "Do you know if he had a child?" I asked.
That girl had a strange scent, but it was similar to Emil's' and she was also of high rank, though it did not seem to me like she let her wolf out a lot, it was almost silent.
It did not seem to me like she knew that she was a mythical creature at all, it looked like her wolf had been blocked by some kind of magic. It would explain why I couldn't sense her at first.
"He can't have a child of his own, his mate, his male, except he—" He paused for a while. "I don't know about that." He continued after a while. "Why do you ask?"
"Nothing, I was just curious. I met this almost silent wolf, and her scent was similar to his, so I thought she could be his child," I replied.
"Well, you do have a heightened sense of smell, so you could be right." He started to say then he turned to me. "I'll look into it." He said, and he walked off.
Yeah, that was a typical conversation between us.
I sighed and walked up to my room. This was one of the times when I truly missed my parents. I might not remember them much because I was barely six years old when they were killed, but I knew that having conversations would be better or warmer if I had spoken to my parents.
I watched him pull Mina into a hug as I ascended the stairs. She threw her head back and was laughing at something he said. She was his niece, and he was always loving with her, except when duty called, though; then he would be all business-like.
I felt really tired, so I continued my journey up the stairs. Tomorrow was going to be a big day and the rest of the week a big deal too because the twins would turn eighteen this weekend.
And that meant Lexi and I could finally mate.
