CHAPTER NINETY ONE
{Axle}
I had not even thought of a gift to get Lexi, and I had no idea what to get her.
I opened my drawer and pulled out my blue stone necklace. I remember when I saw the necklace around Lexi's neck, it was so beautiful, and if only I had gotten over the fact that it was mine fast enough, maybe I would have left it with her.
I knew that she would take proper care of it.
I put it on and dropped on the bed. With one hand on my forehead, I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. I missed my parents so much I did not know when tears began to pour out of my eyes.
The following day, I scheduled a meeting with the pack before heading over to Lexi's place. It was a Sunday, so we did not have school till Monday.
I was ready to introduce her to the pack and tell her the whole truth about Emil and our plan.
I figured that if she was going to be Luna, she best start understanding her role.
Besides, I didn't think I would be able to wait till prom night to mate fully with her, the lust, hunger, and want in her eyes every time she looks at me will push me over the edge one day, and Hans has been whining about it since.
We both wanted her.
"Babe," I called out as soon as I entered her house. I didn't bother knocking since I was already getting used to being in her house.
"Who're you calling?" Bethany asked, and I froze, we had not still told everyone about us. I couldn't believe that I had slipped.
Lexi walked out smiling, and it was right at this moment that I knew that I had fcked up.
"Hello, m-m Bethany," I greeted, trying hard to sound very casual.
"Axle." Lexi looked from me to her mother, and she frowned. "What is going on here?"
"Axle called you 'babe,' and Mom heard," Lex said, coming out of the kitchen with a smoothie bottle.
I didn't even know that he was there.
"Lexi? "Her mother questioned.
"Mom, I can explain." She rushed out, and I just stood there like a rock.
"You don't have to explain anything, Axle's a great guy," Bethany said, and I sighed in relief. Lexi also looked relieved, and she smiled. "I've known for quite some time, I just wanted to see how long you would keep it from me."
"I'm sorry, we meant to tell you, but it just never seemed like the right time," I said.
"I understand." She said and continued doing what she was doing earlier.
"Thank you, Mom," Lexi said and hugged her mother from behind.
"It's fine, hun, I'll just need to have a talk with Axle first."
Now, that's just pure evil. Come on, how is it that I'm always the only one getting talked to?
"Don't wet your pants, man." Lex laughed and pointed at me, I'm guessing my nervousness was clear on my face.
"Don't sweat, dear, Mom is really nice." Lexi smiled and hugged her mother again.
I could tell that she really loved her mother and that family was very important to her.
"Would you like to have the talk now or—" Bethany loosened her apron and tossed it on the kitchen counter.
"Now please," I barely recognized my own voice, I wanted to get it over with.
"Come with me." She gestured to the back door.
We were having the talk in the backyard. Okay, open spaces, I liked open spaces.
"You really love her, don't you?" She asked as soon as she closed the back door on an eager Lexi.
"Yes, ma'am." I could only do casual for so long.
"I could tell from the way you look at my daughter." She said, "Just don't hurt her. I know that you're a very complicated person. Just don't hurt my daughter, she's very innocent and she's fragile. You have witnessed some of her down moments. I know that she loves you, and that is the only reason why I took the initiative to talk to you, don't hurt my baby."
"I won't, ma'am, I love her so much. Hurting her would mean hurting myself, and I could never do that," I said honestly.
She couldn't understand that I couldn't hurt Lexi, she was my mate, and that love and bond are forever.
"That's all I wanted to hear, and you better not play with her either. "I was about to answer with a yes, ma'am, when she turned to me. "Call me Bethany, I liked you better when you called me that."
"Okay, Bethany." I smiled, and she nodded before opening the back door.
"Hi." An eavesdropping Lexi almost fell down when the door opened.
"Hi." I smiled, and her mother laughed as she entered the house.
"You're staying for breakfast." She called over her shoulder, and that was when I realized how early I was, no wonder I had met Bethany at home.
"You're early." Lexi smiled and jumped into my arms.
"I missed you too much," I whispered in her ear, and she blushed.
I tilted her head up and touched my lips to hers, I could never get tired of kissing her.
And boy was I glad that her mother was not weird about the two of us being together, now I was truly ready to announce to the world that she was mine.
"After breakfast, we'll go to the pack house together. I want the whole world to know that you're mine, and more importantly, I want the pack to know their Luna."
"That's n-nice." Her words slurred like she was drunk or about to have a stroke.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm g-great." It happened again.
Something was definitely wrong, her eyes turned to a dark shade and then back to their normal green color.
"I can't wait to be Luna." She said, but her voice sounded distorted.
