CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN

CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN
{Lexi}

"Actually no, some witches draw power from the dead, spirits, and all that, it's considered dark magic when you try to conjure up a spirit."

"Okay," I nodded, everything we've been portrayed in movies was different from the real thing.

We've been scammed, movies are fraud.

But then again there were some things that were correct, so the movie writers must have great minds, great minds that I needed to have if I wanted to become a writer.

The fact that I was a witch didn't mean I would not still pursue my dreams.

We spent the rest of the day together, and I planned out a whole week's worth of outfits for her. I didn't want her coming to school with her cloak and whatever the rest of her regular outfit was.

Maybe I would try it out for Halloween.

She walked me back home, but when I knocked on the door and looked back, she was already gone.

I'm pretty sure she disappeared.

I was looking forward to going back to school come Monday.

"Hey, hun?" My mother greeted me as soon as she opened the door.

"You're back?" I asked in surprise, I did not expect her to come back home so early.

"Yeah, I wanted us to have lunch together, but it's past lunchtime, we'll just call it snack time then." She smiled and walked to the kitchen.

"How did your day go?" I asked following her. "You were with Elric the whole day," I added, it was still shocking how that man had looked so much like Elric.

"Great, we were together all day, but we were working." She said, and I just smiled. Reyah had already shown me everything I needed to see.

"How was your day?" She asked. "Where have you been? I'm glad to know that you're starting to go back out." She said like I was the one who decided that I should remain at home.

I secretly rolled my eyes.

"I was at Axle's, I met a new friend, and we went shopping together," I said and gestured to the new clothes I couldn't resist getting.

"Okay, that's nice. Who is she?"

Nosy much.

"She's Axle's cousin, and she's staying for the senior year, I think. She has already transferred to Bayou Crest. Her name is Reyah, and she's great," I answered. "You'll probably be seeing her around a lot," I added, taking a bite of the cookies she was preparing.

It tasted great.

"Okay, if you like her, then I like her. I know how hard it has been since you left Isla." She said,

"Okay, Mom."

Time flew by, and soon it was Monday.

Today was a double for me, I was returning back to school after a week off, which I had never done before, and Reyah would be joining Bayou Crest today.

It was a double excitement.

"Wow, somebody is up early," Lex commented when I walked down the stairs.

As always, Mom had already left, and the microwave was stuffed with our breakfast.

"Yeah, I'm showing Axle's new cousin around." I smiled excitedly.

"Yeah, I met her, she's kinda cool." He smiled at me. "Are you okay though?" he asked.

There goes my protective brother.

"I'm fine, Lex."

"Okay, nonetheless, we're taking my car and we're driving to school together."

"Okay."

This morning, as I was dressing up, I felt the urge to leave my neck scarf at home and bare my mark to everyone, but I was still not confident, so I picked my best necktie and tied it around my neck.

Me without my necktie at school right now would be like Cardi B without long nails or a Beyoncé song without mad vocals.

Just not right.

Half an hour later, Lex and I pulled up in front of the school. I spotted Axle's car, and I nearly ran towards it.

Mina had gotten a car on her birthday, so she was no longer riding with Axle, and he had also gotten a bike, but I guess he took the car today because of Reyah.

"Reyah!" I squealed and nearly jumped on her.

You would not believe how much I had missed her.

"Nice to see you too." She laughed, and I laughed when she tried to pull her skirt lower.

She looked beautiful in a plain t-shirt and a jean skirt, she was also wearing a choker and drop earrings. Her hair was pulled up atop her head, and her green eyes sparkled.

She was breathtaking.

"Hey Reyah, looking sharp." Lex greeted her when he caught up with us, and he gave her a high-five.

Okay, when did they become bffs?

She smiled and she high-fived him back, she looked so happy, and somehow I could sense her joy.

She was glad that she had found her family.

Holy shit, I did it. I just sensed her feelings.

"Good job." She whispered in my ear as we made our way into the school.

She knew what I had done.

As soon as I walked into the halls, I spotted Eric.

No, Eric, I forgot about Eric all this while.

"Hey," I greeted and hugged him immediately, we even put on a show for the school by kissing deeply.

Axle's face darkened when I looked at him, but I was not about to give a shit.

Everybody in school loved Reyah, she was the talk of the whole school. Her beauty and personality attracted a lot of people to her.

She sat at the cheerleading table with Mina and me during lunch. She kept telling me a lot of things about people that I didn't know about, and it felt hilarious to hear all those things.

Today was one of the most fun days I had ever had at school. Reyah registered for the same classes that I had, so we were in all my classes together, sitting side by side.

"That guy's a medium." She said, and I was so surprised to see who she had pointed to.

I did not know that there were many supernatural beings in Bayou Crest.
