CHAPTER SIXTY EIGHT

CHAPTER SIXTY EIGHT
{Axle}

Everything that ever came out of Reyah's mouth in regard to my mate was all in parables.

She never spoke clearly to me, and I never could understand what she meant by all those statements.

'To know is to remember.'

I pondered on that phrase for many nights, but I still couldn't get the meaning.

Now that she was attending Bayou Crest, she began to spend way less time with me and more time with Lexi and the rest of her family, she was barely even staying at the mansion anymore.

It felt like everyone had moved on from me, and they all got their own stuff going on. Even Eric had stopped bothering me ever since Reyah showed up, he dropped out of the basketball team and joined her knitting club. It was really weird, but I was happy because that made me captain, and I even decided to help Lex by making him my co-captain.

He was a good player, but I noticed that the coach had not been using him because he was playing the same position as Eric. Arguably, he was a better player than Eric, but I guess the coach had been afraid to offend the principal.

Mina was busy with her mate, Reyah was busy with her family, and even Elric was busy. I no longer had real people hanging around me like before, and I had to make do with the humans like Doug. We had become quite close, and I tried to help him stop doing drugs and taking pills, but I didn't think I was making any progress.

Overall, he was a great guy to be with.

I also dedicated my time to training, and I did not mean basketball training, I meant fighting training. I could not yet shift, but the full moon was a day away, and I was super excited.

Hans was also excited, he could not wait to change and admire himself in true Alpha form. He was also going on about his mate, but I think he was just making a mistake or something.

This morning he had told me that he was waiting till after the full moon to mate fully with his mate, and I was confused, I had not even marked anyone yet, and he was talking about mating fully. Maybe the charade with Mina was getting to him.

Reyah was really good at making everyone think that I had marked her, she had even masked my scent on Mina. Even when she had been with Lex all day, she still smelled like she had been rolling in the hay with me all day.

The full moon was on a Saturday, the Friday before it, I got so shit-faced I could barely walk. I was celebrating and also preparing myself for the pain that I was about to face.

Not many true alphas are known to change without their mates around them, that is why Elric had been hammering on the fact that Mina and I should mate.

That was not going to happen, though, meaning I would have to endure the most excruciating pain I had ever felt in my life before.

I only slept because of how wasted I was, when I woke up, it was already afternoon.

"Oh wow, you're awake," Elric said, pushing the door open.

He walked in when I didn't respond and pried open the curtain blinds.

"Oh no." I groaned as the light penetrated through the opened windows.

"Yeah, that's how it feels when you get shit-faced." He said and moved to the edge of my bed.

"Big day today, you know." He said, and I raised an eyebrow at him.

Was he trying to be encouraging?

Now where is Elric, and what have you done to him?

"Yeah," I answered, closing my eyes and massaging my temple with my fingers.

"Make sure you have Mina around you, before and after the change, and especially during the hunt, try to stay calm, you don't want to go on a rampage." He advised and touched my shoulder reassuringly.

Before he left, I thought I heard him say, "I'll be here for you," but he was gone so fast, I barely had time to react.

I took in a full lung of air and then breathed it back out, staying calm was essential. My mate was supposed to calm me down, but with her no way near the picture, I would have to make do with deep breaths.

My nostrils as a regular wolf are very large, my true Alpha's nostrils should be much larger, right?

Enough space to take in a lot of air.

{Reyah}

I didn't sleep last night, I had another vision. It was the full moon today, and it could only go two ways, good or bad.

I couldn't outrightly tell Axle that he and Lexi were mated, and I couldn't tell her too, but the goddess knew that I tried, the two of them just can't seem to take a hint.

I knew that Axle was hurt, but I could not understand why he would prefer to hide his memories over having them. I crossed two worlds to come to the human world, just for memories of my loved ones, and he had these memories, but he was blocking them.

If only he would just remember, he would realize how fated they both were, the moon goddess is very wise to have chosen such a pair to fulfill the prophecy.

Their mating could not be ordinary because they were not ordinary people hence the complications, but I had to do something so that everything we had all worked for would not go to pot.

Lexi was so invested in learning the spells and embracing her true nature, she did not bother to confront him about her suspicions. I hinted at it more than once, but she just brushed it off.

It was great and all that she was becoming the best version of herself, but I also needed her to care. She was about seventy percent sure that Axle was the one who saved her life all those years ago, but she was reluctant to find out if it were actually true.

Maybe she was scared of being wrong, but I did not want to care about her insecurities right now, I knew who she was deep down, and I needed her to know that too.

She was still sleeping, but I had been up for hours contemplating how the good vision I had would come true, the bad one basically ended in destruction. Axle tore himself apart in his rage and destroyed half of the pack. In the end, Emil arrived, and you already know what happened next.

Prophecy over, defeated, conquered, end of the world type shit. Yeah, my vocabulary has changed since I started attending Bayou Crest.

For the sake of the prophecy, I would somehow have to get Lexi to be around Axle without Axle or anyone else having an inkling of what was going on.
