CHAPTER SIXTY SIX
{Lexi}
Reyah took me to the super beautiful glade, and I felt more tranquil there than I've ever felt.
It was so nice.
I felt connected somehow to the place, and I was glad when she began to coach me on magic.
I originally thought that she was kidding, there was no way that I could have magic, but here I was, and golden smoke was coming out or emitting from my hands.
It was so bright and it brightened up the glade.
"Great job, Lexi, and that too on your first trial, very impressive." Reyah clapped her hands, smiling.
I looked at her in shock, I could not believe that I was wielding magic. Magic was literally spewing out of me.
It stopped suddenly!
"Oh no, Lexi, you have to believe in yourself, stop doubting," Reyah chided.
"I can't, it's too sudden. what am I to do with this? I thought it was all a joke and it would be over soon. I love the fact that you have magic but me, well, it's I've always been the lesser one. If it were Lex, then I'll understand he's the shining star and I—"
Yeah, nervous ramblings that actually make no sense.
"Calm yourself," Reyah used a voice that I didn't recognize, it was strong and sounded scary.
"You're a witch, the second living witch. You're the great-granddaughter of the second strongest witch in all of history, you are a star." She finished, her eyes were glowing, and so was her hair, it felt like she was in a trance.
"What just happened?" I asked when her eyes returned to normal and her feet touched the ground again.
"I'm a witch medium, not every witch has it, but I am a necromancer. I can speak to the dead, and they can speak through me, so I guess that was a past witch trying to get you to see the gold in yourself." She said,
It was really creepy, and I wanted to scream, but I didn't. Many of the things I was learning did not make sense to me, but somehow it felt like it was right.
I finally felt okay in my own skin after I used my magic for the first time.
"Thank you," I said and hugged her. She froze again but not for as long as she did before, and she hugged me back.
I was not only thanking her for her words, I was thanking her for coming into my life at a point where I was helpless and nearly hopeless.
Okay, I was hopeless.
It felt like she had never been hugged before, though. I realized her hesitation the first time, but I brushed it off as nervousness, but now that it had happened again, I was sure that she had never been hugged before me.
How sad.
She did mention that she lost her parents after her birth and that she was raised by a kind of circle or group of witches; they must've been cold-blooded if they couldn't even hug a child.
I was determined to make her feel loved, and I would start by hugging her every chance I got.
"We should head back." She said, and I stopped hugging her.
She snapped her fingers again, and just like before, we magically appeared at home.
I followed her back to Elric's mansion, and I helped her set up her room. I could not believe that she had been choosing to sleep in the forest over a soft bed in a large room.
Or maybe she didn't sleep at all, I didn't know.
"I do sleep, Lexi, and stop stressing." She said, and I raised my eyebrows at her.
Seriously! She could read my mind.
Blow me away.
"You can read people's minds?" I asked with a slight chuckle.
I could not wait to learn how to do it so I could use it at school and probably on Axle so I could find out how he really felt for me.
I can't exactly read minds, I can sense feelings, and the rest I just guess, but it was pretty obvious from your face what you were thinking." She smiled.
Party pooper.
I was already super excited.
"But I can learn how to do that, right?" I asked, maybe there was still hope.
"Sure, you can learn to do whatever you want." She said and continued arranging the room.
Wait…. If she had magic, why was she not snapping fingers and moving boxes with her hands?
"Because I'm not Wanda." She said,
She did it again, she did it again, and she was correct.
But wait… did she say Wanda?
Wow, she was learning fast, already at avengers level, I was proud.
"So you mean witches can't do what Wanda does," I asked.
"Well, no, or maybe there just might be a witch that can." She looked at me intently. "But generally, you use up power when you do things, you can't just be shooting fireballs out of your hand all day. You lose power, and you need to recharge, but mostly we use spells instead of moving things with our hands. I can cast a spell to clean my room, fix something that's broken, or arrange my room, but that's basically it." She explained.
"Nice," I fake smiled.
But it was still okay, though. I was happy that I didn't have to slit my palm or conduct a sacrifice before I could use magic, or would I?
"Will I ever need to slit my palm or offer blood sacrifices?" I asked, I needed to be sure.
"If you're into dark magic, yeah, but it depends on the amount of power you require for a spell, some spells need one powerful witch, and other spells might require a circle of witches or a very connected element, but it's mostly dark magic or extremely powerful spells like bringing back a dead person that requires blood, and bringing back a dead person is considered an act of dark magic."
"Isn't necromancy an act of dark magic?" I asked suddenly curious.
