Harlyn
"What is it?"
I asked Bernardo. Whatever it is, I needed to know. I need to know even if it was bad. Bernardo didn't answer me, instead, he turned away and started talking to the person on the other end of the phone. The way he was talking made it seem as if he was talking to Helaine but I didn't want to get my hopes up.
"Helaine, we are coming to get you. Just stay put, okay? I will end this call and call you back. Please pick up and make sure to stay on the line. Tell the person there that I will pay for the time."
My heart skipped multiple beats at his words. If Harry wasn't holding me, I might have collapsed to the ground. Even Harry seemed shaken. The talk with her seemed to go on forever.
Bernardo barely said any words so I couldn't even make out what they were talking about. I wanted to tell him to put the call on loud-speaker but I didn't want to distract him so I just stood there and waited.
"Was that really Helaine on the phone?"
I asked as soon as Bernardo ended the call. He turned to me and nodded.
"Yes, baby. We will go to her now. She escaped. She is safe. We will go get her."
Bernardo told me and put my phone back in his ear. I couldn't even breathe a breath of relief because there was nothing to be relieved about. My sister was still out there and it was unsafe. I wanted her back here with me.
I looked at Harry. "It will be fine."
He assured me. Bernardo came to us and gave my phone to me. I took it and nearly fell to my knees when I heard Helaine's voice.
"Is this really you?"
I croaked. I coughed to clear my throat.
"Yes, baby. I know you are worried but I am fine right now. I called as soon as I could find a phone. I could have taken a taxi but I have been waiting for more than an hour and no taxi has come this way."
Her voice was strong and she didn't sound frightened at all. She sounded just like my Helaine.
This time, I collapsed to the ground in relief. Hearing her voice made everything better. She was okay.
"Where are you?"
I asked her.
"Somewhere, I am okay, babe. That man might not be okay. I took him out."
She said the words with a small laugh. She said it so casually like she was talking about getting her nails done or something in that line.
"What do you mean you took him out?"
I questioned. Harry tried to help me up but I didn't want to be up.
"We have to leave now. We have to go to her and your mate thinks you won't want to stay behind."
Harry explained. Only then did I look up to see that it was just us in the room? The others already left. Of course, I want to go and bring my sister back home. Bernardo knows me very well.
I got up really fast without ending the call with Helaine. I followed Harry out of the room and down to where the car was already ready to leave.
"Can you tell your sister to hold on?"
I nodded and told Helaine what Bernardo said, and handed the phone to Harry before focusing my attention on my mate.
"We have to split."
I stared at him in confusion.
"Why?"
"Your sister told us where to find Theo and we have to act now or it might become more dangerous. She bit him. If it doesn't kill him, he might wake up and become, you know."
Yeah, he didn't need to spell it out to me. If Helaine bit him and not enough to kill him, she might just have given him more power. I nodded in understanding.
"She marked out the place to find him and Damien already found the location. Damien, Hillan, and I are going that way while your brother and you will go get your sister. Don't worry, I made sure it would be safe."
He assured me.
"Okay, I understand. We shouldn't waste time. Come back soon and safe, okay? I love you."
I told him and hugged him. He hugged me back.
"I love you. This will be over tonight. I promise. We won't have that bastard tormenting us after tonight."
He told me. I hoped so. I really hope that they can capture him in time. That's if Helaine didn't succeed in killing him. I don't want my sister to be a killer but killing a psychopath like Theo was doing society a great service.
"I trust you."
I told Bernardo and let him go. I didn't want him to waste time.
"I love you."
He called out to me as he walked away.
"I love you more."
I replied and got into the car. Harry handed my phone back to me. Helaine was still on the line and she was as chatty as always.
"It's Harlyn again."
I told her because she thought it was still Harry on the line.
"Oh sis, I heard you were worried about me. Sorry, I made you cry. I didn't mean to. That bastard caught me unaware and he doesn't play fair. If he did, he wouldn't have stood a chance. For the record, I still took him out and did my best to make sure he will be where I left him for your mate to find him."
She chatted on. I listened quietly to her.
I realized just how brave she was. If I was the one in her position, I might have been crying and worrying. I wish I could be as strong and fearless as she was but I wasn't raised by warriors like Harry and Helaine.
I didn't know one thing about fighting and according to my lesson teacher, it wasn't the place of the Luna to be a fighter when she has her alpha and mate. I am the heart of the pack and my duties were to spread love and light.
I want to be a fighter too. I want to be as brave and fearless as my siblings too. I know if they hear my thoughts, they will scold me because to them, I have my own abilities and I agree. I do but that doesn't mean I can't want more. I shook off my thoughts to focus on what Helaine was telling me as the car pulled out of the palace.
"I hope they get to him before he wakes up. I am sure I didn't kill him. I am not a killer. I did enough to crash him for hours but if he wakes up."
I hope not. I hope he doesn't wake up. I hope he dies before Bernardo and the others get to him. If not, I hope they capture him and bring him back to the palace dungeon in chains.
