Harlyn

"I am sure whatever happens, the alpha king will handle it. I actually thought I would be in trouble for biting him. It's my first time. I didn't expect it to be so effective. I actually didn't let go until he slumped to the ground."

Helaine chatted on. The car drove at a speed that would have been considered illegal at any other time but not tonight.

"How do you feel?"

I asked her. There was a moment of silence before she spoke again.

"Actually, I feel really good. I haven't fed at all. I was raised to not feed but I think that ended today. It feels weird but kind of in a good way. I don't know what will happen going forward but I do hope I can continue working."

I know what she was talking about. She's a doctor who sees blood all the time. It might be an issue for her going forward. I hope not. I really want her to continue working.

"Laine, I am so sorry."

I apologized to her. It was all my fault that she got into a situation that made her break a streak that she had had since birth.

"What the fuck are you sorry about, woman? Would you rather he got you instead? You are not a fight, Harlyn! You are Queen. You are Luna. You are a healer. Your touch fixes, not destroy. I am happy that he took me. Maybe this was why I came back. To be a part of it. To save my father's people too."

I couldn't say anything against what she just said so I silently nodded in agreement because she was right.

"You are right. You did well."

I told her.

"I know I did. Once this is over, can we have a huge party?"

I smiled for the first time since I realized that she was taken. Of course, we will party. Defeating Sean, his minions, and his son wasn't easy. It took years to take them out so yes, a huge celebration is necessary.

"I will pass the idea on to the king."

I assured her.

"I trust you. Is our brother still there?"

She asked and I looked over to Harry who smiled.

"Still here, it's the both of us that are coming to get you."

I explained.

"I know, the king already told me. He was worried about me but I told him not to worry. I am safe and the kind old lady who gave me her phone also gave me a change of clothes."

She explained. I let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness. I thought you might be out there with bloody clothes."

"Nah, I got rid of the evidence as soon as I walked out of that hellhole."

She explained. I smiled proudly at the way she said it.

"I think the warriors who taught you how to fight will be proud of how you used what they taught you."

I told her. She laughed.

"Baby, it was our granduncles. We should go see the family someday. They are all dying to meet you in person. They won't stop talking about you."

I smiled. I might not have grown up with them or have vampire genes but I feel like they will welcome me into the family whole-heartedly.

"I can't wait to meet them too."

"They can come to visit if the ban against their kind gets lifted."

I smiled knowing that Bernardo already had it in mind to lift the ban that was placed on vampires. I am sure after how that witch helped, he might consider doing the same for witches too. As long as they are good and do not try to cause an issue in the kingdom.

"They can come and visit. I know they can! Harry is moving here. You will be here too. So yeah, our family can come and visit."

I assured her. We went back and forth about the things that we would do together once things were back to normal. It took at least an hour or more to arrive at the location that she was at and I got out of the car as soon as it stopped.

"Helaine!"

I called out and ran towards her.

"No, no. Don't run. Hey! Stop running!"

She called out running towards me too. I didn't stop until I had her in my arms. I hugged her tightly.

"You shouldn't be running. You are pregnant and it's still a risky stage."

I didn't mind. I know that my pup won't mind me running to hug her aunty who got kidnapped in my place and managed to escape unharmed. I am not even belittling myself but if Theo got me instead of her, I would have been unable to get away from him. Too fucking soft for my own good. The only things I know how to do are read minds/see visions and heal. Great when needed but not so great when it comes to defending myself.

"Hey, don't cry. I am safe now."

I didn't even realize I was crying until she told me not to cry. I sniffed and pulled out of the hug to examine her. She looked pretty okay. Just like she had been when I saw her hours ago when she arrived at the palace. The only noticeable difference was her clothes.

"He didn't touch you, right? He didn't hit you, right? He can be very aggressive."

I let out, inspecting her.

"Nothing happened, Luna. I promise. He didn't stand a chance. It helped that he thought I was you and also, he is pretty dumb. He acts without thinking and that worked in my favor. A mid man, if you ask me."

She was talking about what happened to her so lightly and even rating Theo. I breathed out a sigh of relief.

"Can I hug her too?"

I turned at Harry's voice and made way for him to hug our sister.

"I believed in you. I knew you would outsmart him."

Harry told Helaine before they hugged. I watched them hug and talk. I realized he knew her really well. Of course, he did. They grew up together and knew everything about each other. I felt left out so I joined the hug and just like that, the triplets were united again. I cried. Real tears. Even as we thanked the woman who helped Helaine.

Even as we got back to the car to go back to the palace. I cried a lot and blamed it on pregnancy hormones.
