Harlyn
"How much longer will it take to track her down?"
I questioned impatiently. I have been asking the same question over and over again since Bernardo and the others got back and they have only given me one answer which has been repeated more times than I could count.
It hasn't changed and it has been over eight hours since they got back. My sister has been gone for ten hours now. Ten hours was a long time ago and I don't know what and where they took her. I thought Bernardo and the others would go after her once they arrived but that's not what they did.
Bernardo told me that they would find her. He said that all borders have been closed but that hasn't stopped them before. The day Theo got away from the kingdom, the border was supposed to be closed but he still managed to get away.
He wasn't supposed to be able to get back into the kingdom so easily not to talk of the palace but he did so I couldn't trust the people Bernardo said were in charge of securing the borders. There were so many allies of Theo and his father that we still didn't know.
Finding out after Damien checked the disposable phone I found that the person who took my sister was Theo made me feel so much more guilty than I already felt before I found out. It was obvious that he came for me and mistook my sister for me.
He took her when all along I was his target. It should have been me. She just got back. She hasn't even gotten the time to rest and he took her. I don't even know how he got into the kingdom in the first place.
Bernardo and the others have talked for hours and their talking was starting to piss me off. He tried to make his sisters take me with them but I told them I wasn't going anywhere until my sister was found. That's why I was the only woman among them.
Harry walked up to me and offered me water. I shook my head.
"I am not thirsty."
I told him. he was so chill about the whole thing. When we found out who got Helaine, I expected him to react more than he did. It was as if only I feared for our sister's safety. I wanted to call him out on his behaviour but I didn't want us to have our first fight while our sister was missing.
"You have been worrying for hours now. You need to rest, Luna."
I shook my head. What I needed wasn't rest. I needed my sister back. I have tried and failed to connect with her so many times in the hours that she has been gone. I wished we practiced our mind-link. I know it's a thing for twins to be able to communicate with each other just like mates but we haven't been able to bond to that existent yet.
I tried to feel her too but there was nothing. It was as if every feeling of her disappeared and that scared me more than anything but then our brother was acting normal, like nothing was happening and even offering me water.
Even though he was just looking out for me, it pissed me off so much the more I thought about it that I couldn't just keep quiet about it.
"Aren't you worried for our sister?"
I blurted out.
"I am."
"Yeah? You don't look worried at all."
I pointed out.
"Lyn, if I don't look worried, it's because I don't want to worry over things that I can control. I know that Helaine will be just fine."
I couldn't believe him. Did he forget that she was kidnapped? Kidnapped! Not like she went for a walk or something.
"You act like she went for a walk, Harry. I don't like it. Our sister got kidnapped by a manic who is out of control."
I let out. I shouldn't be angry at him. It was obvious that we have different ways of reacting to things and he was a man so yeah, he could control his emotions better but still.
"I know but you are worrying for no reason."
I couldn't believe him.
"What?"
"I am telling you that you are worrying over nothing. He took the wrong person."
I glared at Harry. He was saying nonsense as if I don't know already that Theo got the wrong twins. He should be worried for our sister and not acting like it wasn't a big deal.
Sure enough, he looked concerned but at the same time, he was making it seem as if it was nothing. What? I was worrying over nothing? My sister being kidnapped by a lunatic wasn't nothing.
"Don't look at me like that, Queen. I am sure of what I am saying. You should be worried for that fucker because when I say he got the wrong person, I mean it in every term."
I couldn't understand him.
"What do you mean?"
I let out harshly.
"Our sister is a fighter. We grew up with the best vampire warriors. They taught us how to fight and defend ourselves. She might not look like it but Helaine is strong that's why I know that she will be okay. That bastard on the other hand might not be okay."
He sounded so sure of what he just and I wanted to be sure too but Theo has been a bully for as long as I could remember and he was big. A wolf who trained to overthrow Bernardo. He might not be as strong as Bernardo but he was definitely strong.
"Sis, I promise. Our sister will be okay. We will find her and it will be the end of that guy. He is not going to make it out of this, I promise you."
Harry told me. He didn't just stop there, he closed the distance between us and pulled me into a warm hug. All the anger I felt towards him melted away instantly. I didn't know just how much I needed my brother to hug until he did.
It just hit differently with him. With Bernardo, it was the hug of a spouse. My mate but with Harry, he was my blood, we met in the womb and shared a connection that goes beyond what anyone else can describe. I felt a pull and he did too because he hugged me tighter.
"You feel it don't you?"
I whispered and blinked to stop myself from crying. I have cried enough to last me a whole year. No more tears. And to be honest, it doesn't solve any problem.
"Yes, and I think she feels it too. I feel her. You feel her don't you?"
I couldn't speak. I felt choked up with tears because I did. I felt Helaine and wanted to call out for her but I wasn't sure she would hear me.
"She will be fine. We will get her back. I promise."
Harry assured me, patting my back softly. I don't know what it was, I don't know if it was the way he said it or not but it just seemed so true and real. I believed. I believe that Helaine will be okay and she will come back to us unharmed.
A phone started ringing which led to Harry and I breaking our hug. I looked at Bernardo and he pointed at my phone which was on the couch. It was my phone that was ringing. I rushed to it and gasped when I saw it was an unregistered number.
My heart skipped a beat and my hands started sweating. I knew without a doubt that whoever was on the line was calling because of Helaine. The fear I felt earlier came back a thousand times stronger. I handed the phone over to Bernardo who walked up to me.
Harry pulled me back to himself and held me close while Bernardo took the call. He turned to me once the person on the other end spoke and my heart sank when I saw his expression. I just knew it was bad. Goddess, please.
