Chapter 99 099
Brian’s POV
That idiot told me the last time that everything we did was going to affect Amelia, and she would be able to come back to me. It’s been days, and I haven’t heard of anything other than the fact that she revealed that she was a lycan.
How am I supposed to deal with this? I expected that she would fold and accept me right away, having nowhere else to go, but now she found a way to actually reveal her identity to the whole world. Now everyone knows that she and Damien are together. What am I supposed to do now? His stupid plans ruined everything for me.
I was waiting at the café where we were supposed to meet together. I want to see what his excuses would be this time around. He said I caused trouble and he was trying to fix it, but now he made things worse.
How am I supposed to get Amelia now? I kept checking the time, and he wasn’t here. I’ve been here for over 30 minutes, and I haven’t seen him. Is he trying to run away from his responsibilities, or does he not want to cooperate with me anymore?
“What exactly are you talking about?” I heard his voice from behind me. I immediately stood up, ready to attack him, but he dodged it.
“You idiot, do you have any idea what you caused? Now you have made me lose what I was trying so hard to keep. Thanks to your stupid suggestions, now things have gotten stronger between them. What am I supposed to do now?” I was fuming with a lot of rage, and I wanted to just smash his head.
He was the one who approached me in the first place, and now he’s making me feel like I’m stupid.
He looked at me and shook his head. “This is why I hate talking to you. You are very stupid and don’t have any form of discipline at all. Even if the situation is like this, shouldn’t you think of solutions rather than blaming people for your incompetence?”
I grabbed his collar. “Say that to me again, clearly. What do you mean by this? Do you think I’m stupid or what?”
He pushed me away without even making much effort. I need to make me angry. The fact that I don’t even know who exactly he is, and why he’s always wearing his mask to talk to me, and I made a deal with him, is so annoying. This is more than infuriating for me.
“Stop blaming me for things that have solutions. I told you everything is under control. Even if this one failed, there are so many things that we can do at the end of the day. Come on, give me your faith. Remember, the lycan clan was wiped out in the past. I’ve been here, all powerful than everyone else, yet they still found a victim of what happened in the past. So what is two of them going to change? Nothing.”
Even though what he said is essentially true, we can’t rule out the fact that they are very strong, and they already know my mom, what happened to her family. Of course they would want to find out who did all those things to her.
That strong ability would be the driving force to make them stronger. How am I thinking of all these things and they’re not? How do you have so much confidence that they are going to do everything and get away with it?
“You really want me to believe in you? With what basis? How am I supposed to believe anything else you say now? They're going to change a lot, because I don't know if you read the news, but a lot of people already look up to them….”
I'm really tired of talking to this idiot, because he just doesn't get it. I don't know who is controlling everything behind the scenes and what exactly they are after, but one thing is clear at this moment: they don't care about my affairs, and they just want to use me as a pawn. I have my own power and resources. I'm not going to be anyone's pawn, and I won't be used.
“I already told you the master has high expectations of you. You should live up to his expectations if you ever want to meet him,” he said again.
But I shook my head. “I'm not ready to meet anyone's expectations, because from now on I'm not working for you people anymore. It's the other way around this time. You will be working for me.”
He looked at me like I was going crazy, and I waited for him to react to it. Of course, he laughed at me, thinking that I'm someone who jokes around. I think I'm stupid in the first place to even think of collaborating with someone whose origins I don't know and whose face I don't see.
“Do you think you have any right to bargain with us? We are trying to help you here and clean up the mess that you caused in the first place. You think you can negotiate?” He snapped at me.
I knew he wouldn't be able to keep his cool when I worked. He was always acting mysterious since I've met him, and now that I'm provoking him, he's probably showing the side that he's hiding from everyone.
“You were the one who approached me in the first place. If you were able to do what you wanted, you wouldn't have approached me. Since you couldn't do it, I assume that you need my help. If you are going to be disrespectful like this, then we don't have to cooperate anymore. I have my own ways and resources to do things,” I said, turning around to leave.
He immediately held me back, ready to attack me, but I'm not a pushover. I immediately dodged his attacks. The only way I listened to everything he was saying without attacking him in the first place was because I wanted to win Amelia over. Now that he has ruined my chances with her, I have to find a way to redeem myself and stop listening to whatever stupidity he has to say, unless he's willing to show me to his master. This is a way to get them to show themselves. At the end of the day, his master is going to ask me to see him, and even if he's the one behind the scenes pretending to be a messenger, he will eventually show himself to me.
Either way, I'm going to win. We continued to fight a little bit, and no one was coming in between us because there were hardly people in the meeting point whenever we met here. The place was always cleared out so that we could have our conversation freely, and now it's like this too. After a while, he got tired of fighting me and stopped.
“You are more impressive than I thought. I didn't know you had such strength,” he said to me.
I shook my head. “I underestimated you too, but you're quite good. However, you're not as good as me. I'm not even doing my best.”
I said this to provoke him, but he didn't look provoked at all. Instead, he finally slowly removed his mask and showed his face to me. I was shocked when I saw who he was. I thought I was seeing things, but I definitely wasn't. This is my uncle Richard, who lives very far away from us. He has been gone for years for no good reason, and now he's here.
“Uncle Richard, is it you? Are you the master behind the scenes? Are you the one I've been in contact with all these days, or did you just come here today to reveal yourself to me?” I asked him.
“You're smarter than I thought. You're right. I wasn't the one contacting you all these days; it was my subordinate. And now I'm showing myself to you so that you can know that we have a common goal, and I promise you I have your best interest at heart.”
There's no reason for him to hide his face when he has my best interest at heart, like he said. I'm very sure he has something that I don't know, and it's in my interest to try making him confess to me, because the way I'm seeing things, he definitely has a big secret behind him.
“Uncle, I have a question to ask you. By any chance, did you have anything to do with the lycans getting attacked all those years ago?” I asked him.
His eyes widened like I found out a very big secret of his, and that is when I realized that whatever I asked him was meant to be a secret he was going to hide forever. However, I found out from him. He's not going to be able to do anything to me now that he knows I know his secret. He's going to cooperate fully with me, and I will find out whatever he's planning to do and use it to my advantage. As long as I can get Amelia, I am willing to do anything.
“I'm going to take your silence as an answer, uncle. Now I'm the one who's going to make the terms. What exactly do you want from Amelia?”
