Chapter 100 100
Caleb's POV
My parents have been so much since they heard that my sister ended up revealing who she was to the entire world. At the end of the day, this is no one but Damien's fault. He would not have been able to manipulate her like this if she wasn't with him.
But at the same time, I'm guessing this is what she wanted to do, so maybe we should just accept the fact that the entire world already knows. There's no going back from this.
“Mom, Dad, you don't have to be so mad at her. This is her choice, and we have to respect it. Besides, he's not even mad at us for hiding so many things from him. How old is he? I don't think we have any right to be mad at her,” I told them.
I had to come to see them at home, but they were still boiling over. It's almost very worrying, and Dad just wants to take her away from Damien. He probably even wants her to go abroad. What use would that be if those people are already after her life? They would definitely look for her all over the world.
“You don't understand what this situation is. Your sister is playing with fire. Her real parents couldn't survive something like this. Does she think she's special or what?” Dad fired at me.
At the end of the day, I know everything he's doing is all because he cares about her and he doesn't want anything to happen to her. Amelia is too reckless with things.
I need to talk to her to be careful when making the next decision in her life. She's not just alone now, and she can't just make decisions for herself anymore. She has to consider the people around her, most especially her child.
“Dad, you shouldn't worry too much about her. I think the main thing we should be doing now is to find out who those people are that are trying to hurt my sister. I think we should help her investigate and also stop them. That way, he would be at peace even if she's exposed to the entire world,” I explained to him.
He nodded in agreement. “You're right. I shouldn't be thinking about all of this now. I should think about my daughter's safety the most. I can't let anything happen to her just because she's with Damien now.”
Mom, on the other hand, didn't want to say anything. I mean, she was very disappointed too. I didn't ask much of her. She's usually very calm and composed, but most of the time she can't help but show how much she worries about her children in front of everyone, which is quite admirable for her.
“Mom, you don't have to worry much about her. I promise you we will find out whoever is behind all of this and won't let anything happen to her,” I told her.
She nodded in agreement. “Since you are going to investigate, you should let me come too.”
“But you shouldn't be doing—” Dad tried to stop her, but she didn't give him a chance to say it.
“Are you going to stop me from helping my daughter now when she's in need? She's been threatened by all those people. I don't know why you think staying at home is going to help her. Why do you always try to exclude me out of everything?”
I could see that Mom was getting mad because of this, so I quickly stepped in to stop them from arguing.
“Mom, you don't have to get mad at Dad. We are going to include you in the investigation. No one can stop you from doing what you want, right, Dad?”
I looked at him, giving him a signal to just accept what she wants before she gets any more angry than this.
He nodded, “You're right. I can't stop you from getting what you want, but you have to promise me you won't put yourself in danger just to save anyone in case there's any kind of danger.”
She shook her head. “I can't promise you something like that,” she replied. “If you all are in danger, I'm going to do whatever I can to save you, so it's not a promise I can make.”
Dad looked very mad at her for saying this, but I quickly stopped him. There's no need to argue over something like this without even knowing what lies ahead. We haven't found out anything about this situation, so there's no need to be mad at anyone.
“Mom, I'm sorry about the situation. Dad didn't mean to say it like that, so I hope you would put much thought into it,” I apologized to her.
She shook her head. “You don't have to worry. I'm not going to pay much attention to what he's saying. I have my own mind too. I can make the choice for myself.”
I know my father is just doing all of this because he doesn't want to see her get hurt. It's not like he doesn't trust her strength, but he's just too overprotective of her. I have witnessed their love right from when I was a child, and I know he cares more about her than anyone else in this world.
“Mom, Dad… I think I need to see my sister for now. I need to talk to her about some things and also find out about those people who are after her. Maybe we can get more clues from there,” I told them.
Mom agreed. “Since she's already out in the open, they won't attack her so blatantly outside, so tell her to come see us back home sometime.”
I accepted what my mom said and headed to see Amelia. There was something I needed to confirm with her and also talk to her about Brian. The way he was acting the past few days shows that he has something to hide. I wanted to follow him, but he somehow managed to outsmart me, which meant that he was doing something shady.
If that's the case with him, I don't want my sister to have anything to do with someone like him. I don't want her to get into trouble associating with him, especially since he's interested in her when he knows he can't have her anymore. For all the humiliation he gave to her and also the fact that she's with Damien now, he thinks it's possible with him?
“Dad, I need to speak to you alone,” I said to him.
He headed outside with me without asking questions, and when we got outside, he was waiting for me to express myself.
“I want to talk about Brian. Don't you think there's something strange about him?” I asked him.
He shook his head. “I don't know what you're talking about. What exactly could be strange about him?”
“The fact that he's always wanting to take Amelia back. It's weird that he wants a girl that he rejected years ago. Do you think something else is behind this? Besides, I've been watching him the past few days, and he's very strange,” I explained.
Dad kept thinking about it for a moment before he finally decided to give me an answer. “Since you think something is wrong, I'm going to watch him. You should focus on the task at hand. Leave this to me.”
I smiled at him. “Of course, Dad. That's why I told you about it, because you're the only one who can do this without being noticed.”
He put a hand on my shoulder. “I hope you understand that I don't want your mother to get hurt, which is why I wanted her out of all of this. But you know I can't stop her sometimes.”
“I understand, Dad. You don't have to worry. She's going to come around,” I told him.
“I really hope so. These people are not easy to deal with. I don't want to lose any of you, even if Amelia is stubborn.”
