Chapter 9

Tristan Cole I drove back home after dropping off Freya's stuff at Eleanor's, I just couldn't keep it in the pool house anymore. Every time I saw something of hers the pain of her betrayal hit me all over again. My head was all over the place. I loved her so much, and I never thought that she could do something like that to me. I just couldn't understand it, I needed answers. I pulled up at my parent's house and decided to confront my father, I was sure that he knew way more than what he was telling me. I walked into the house and saw that he was watching a film in the living room.

“Dad I need to talk to you in private, I'll be in your office,” I stated, not even bothering to wait for a reply.

I walked straight into his office and sat down on the couch.

“Have you changed your mind, about organizing a meeting with the other packs, so that we can find your mate?” My dad asked excitedly as he entered the office.

He closed the door behind him, then strolled past me and sat at his desk. I rolled my eyes as I replied, “No, what's the point? I know Freya's my mate.”

I truly did believe that she was, even with what she'd just done to me, I couldn't stop thinking about her. I missed her so much already, and my wolf wouldn't shut up. He was worried about her and wanted her back, safe and sound with us.

“Don't be so stupid son!” My father snapped while slamming his fists down onto the desk in anger. My eyes grew wide at his sudden outburst.

“What's your problem with her? I know she cheated on me but there's more to it than that, isn't there? Tell me!” I shouted back at him while sitting forwards on the couch.

He sighed and sat back in his chair and folded his arms across his chest.

“She's a hunter, son. You can't have her as your mate, she doesn't know enough about being a hunter yet. But once she has her ascension ceremony, she will despise every single one of us,” he spoke in a hushed voice.

I furrowed my brow not quite understanding.

“Freya would never despise us. She loves us, we're her family,” I said defending her.

She'd just crushed my heart, but I knew that she loved Tyler, Cassie, and my parents.

“She won't be able to control it son. The ceremony completes her journey into becoming a hunter. Afterwards, she will only see us like dogs for her to hunt. I'm only trying to protect you and the pack son,” he said as he lowered his head and I could see that he was a little hurt too.

I sat back and sighed; I couldn't believe that she would ever hate us enough to kill us. I suddenly had an idea. I got up and sat in the chair opposite my dad.

“What if she didn't have the ceremony? Would she stay the same as she is now?” I asked him with excitement.

“Um... Yeah, I guess she would, but I doubt the other hunters will allow that. They'll probably try to talk her around, or even force her to go through with the ceremony,” he replied with sadness in his eyes. “Also, I've heard that Mason is her Fennid,” he added with a sigh.

“What's a Fennid?” I asked in confusion.

“Fennid and Fianna, are basically their versions of mates,” he explained in a calm and low voice, I guess trying not to piss me off.

Too late, my wolf went absolutely insane, he just kept screaming, “She’s mine!”

I stood up and threw my chair into the wall, it smashed into pieces and scattered all over the floor. My dad shot up out of his chair.

“Tristan, calm your wolf, now!” He growled using his Alpha voice, causing my wolf and me to instantly bow down to him, and expose our neck in submission.

Knock, knock...

A gentle tap on the door was followed by the concerned voice of my mother, “Aiden honey, is everything okay in there?” She asked in a low voice.

“Yes, Clara sweetie, there's nothing to worry about,” he said calmly.

I guess my mom was a little worried in case I'd hit him again.

“We're okay mom, I promise,” I said in a reassuring tone.

“Okay, sweetie let me know if either of you need anything,” she replied sounding a little relieved.

“Thanks, mom,” I replied as I walked across the room, and slumped back down onto the couch.

“Have you calmed down now?” My father asked with an eyebrow raised.

I replied with a sigh and a simple nod of my head. He walked around the desk and sat on the couch beside me. I closed my eyes and tilted my head back to rest it on the back of the couch.

“So this guy is her mate?” I asked my father bluntly.

I didn't really know what I wanted to hear him say, I mean if that Mason guy was her mate, or Fennid. Whatever it was called, and if the bond was anything like what we went through with our wolves, then that would explain why she cheated on me. Maybe she felt so scared and alone, then that guy pops up with that weird bond pulling them together, and she just couldn't stop herself. Not that the explanation made it hurt any less, but I could understand and maybe to forgive her in time. But then was dad, right? Now that she'd been with Mason and they knew about each other, would she ever be able to stop thinking about him? I mean she was probably with him right now, she sure as hell wasn't at her mother's house. I started to get angry again, even my wolf was telling me to calm down, he just kept telling me to go find her and bring her home, he missed her more than I did.

“Yes son, their bond is similar to ours, we have the blessing of the moon goddess. While their destiny, is planned out by the archangel's themselves. The difference is that we can reject our mates, and then be given new ones, or if our mate dies we can find another. The hunters only have one soul mate in their whole lifetime. That's why I doubt this Mason guy will ever let her go,” he said in a low voice as he placed his hand on my shoulder. I lent forwards and put my face into my hands.

“Then I have no choice do I? If I want her back, I'm gonna have to kill him!” I growled as I shot up off of the couch, my wolf was growling in agreement and howling with excitement as I rushed out of the house and jumped into my car.

Freya Rose “Freya!” Evan yelled.

I stopped kissing Mason, and pushed him off of me when I heard Evan running up the stairs. I jumped up off of the floor just before he burst in through the door.

“Um... Your mom's on the phone again, and she's crying about something... I, Um...” He said but got distracted while looking down at Mason, who had now rolled over onto his back and was covering his face with his hands.

Evan's eyes grew wide as he scanned over Mason's body, I watched him as his mouth suddenly dropped open. I followed his gaze and saw Mason's huge erection sticking up in his jeans. Oh geez, he could have covered that, instead of his face, I thought to myself.

“Don't be jealous Evan, just because his is bigger than yours,” I mocked while pushing him out of the way.

I ran down the stairs as fast as I could. I heard Mason laughing in hysterics and Evan was promptly following behind me.

“Mines way bigger, Angel cakes, and I can prove it to you if you want?” He protested as he followed me all the way to Damien's office.

I ran into the office and turned around holding onto the door. I smirked at him and raised my little finger and wiggled it at him. He stopped dead in his tracks, and before I had a chance to do anything, he grabbed his tracksuit bottoms and yanked them down. I didn't want to look, but I couldn't resist, my mouth dropped open and eyes grew wide as I scanned down and saw him in all his glory. I couldn't speak, I just blushed. He winked at me with a giant grin, so I did the only thing I could think of, I quickly slammed the door in his face.

“Why the hell have you got your bits out Evan? Good job Amelia and Isaac are at their cousin's this week. Put it away for God's sake!” I heard Damien shout at Evan.

I chuckled and made my way over to the phone.

“Mom?” I asked as I sat down on Damien's chair.

“Freya thank God. Tristan was here again. He was so angry and I'm sure his eyes were black. Aren't they usually blue, or green, or are they brown?” She said in a complete panic.

“Um, mom? Focus,” I said while rolling my eyes, and while trying to pick dried beans out of my hair.

“Oh right... Yeah sorry... Well, he was really angry. I think he's lost the plot, because he kept asking where Damien lived, and when I insisted, I didn't know, he demanded I give him your phone,” she said in a panic.

Oh crap! I thought to myself, Tristan knows that I write everything down in my phone. I've got a memory like a goldfish, so he suggested that I write everything down so that I can remember it. And yes, of course, I wrote down Damien's address in it.

“Then what happened?” I asked her in a calm voice.

The last thing I needed right now was for her to be freaking out on me, before she could tell me everything.

“Well like I said, he's lost the plot, he just kept rambling about a Fianna and Fennid and soul mates. Then he said something about a ceremony and then...” She trailed off.

Well, he knew a lot more now, I guessed Aiden had finally decided to tell him the rest of the story then.

“Then what mom?” I snapped, I didn't mean to, but thinking about Aiden made my blood boil.

“Then he shouted out that he needed to kill Mason and stop the ceremony, then you two can be together again,” She spoke so quietly.

Unfortunately for me, I'd managed to catch exactly what she’d said, and my heart sank, but also fluttered at the same time. I didn't know how to explain it, but I was feeling two different sets of emotions at the same time. I guess it was joy and excitement from my human side, that Tristan wanted us to be together again. Then there was pure panic and anger from my angel side, at the thought of Mason getting killed. I want to be back with Tristan, but I can't let him kill Mason, what am I going to do? I questioned myself.

“When did he leave mom?” I asked her in a panic.

“About ten minutes ago, what are you going to do?” She asked sounding really concerned.

“I don't know yet mom, but I have time to figure something out. Even if he drives like a maniac, it'll still take him about three hours to get here, so hopefully, he has a chance to calm down a bit by then. I'll call you later tonight, I promise,” I said trying to reassure her.

“Ok honey be careful and call me as soon as you can, to let me know that you're okay,” she didn't really sound reassured, but I think she accepted that there was nothing that she could do to help me.

“I'll be fine mom. Neither one of them would hurt me, I love you, bye.”

She said her goodbyes and I hung up the phone. I sighed and sat back in the chair placing my hands over my face. What the hell was I going to do? If I tell Mason he'll just say, 'let him come, I'll kill him before he kills me'. And if I tell Damien, I don't know how he will react. He'll probably say the same, he hates wolves as much as Mason does. I got up to go to the office door and opened it up.

“Evan?” I shouted out.

“Yes, Angel cakes?” He answered while strolling out of the dining room.

“Can you come in here for a sec?” I asked him while ushering with my hands for him to come into the office. He walked towards me with a smirk on his face.

“Liked what you saw, didn't you?” He chuckled as he got closer to me.

“Urgh, no you perv, just get in here!” I snapped in disgust as I yanked him inside the room by his shirt.

“Whoa there, Angel cakes, you don't have to rush. I can last for hours,” he said as he brushed down his t-shirt and sat down in the middle of the couch.

He stretched his arms over the back of the couch, then lifted his foot to rest on his other leg.

“Eww, gross!” I replied while pretending to dry heave, as I closed the door.

“Don't lie, Angel cakes, you know you want the Ev-meister,” he said in a cocky voice while winking at me, and tapping the seat next to him.

“Oh, God, really? There's something seriously wrong with you,” I said as I cracked up laughing and he laughed along with me.

“Little too much?” He asked with a giggle.

“Just a tad,” I replied while holding my fingers up to indicate a small amount.

“Okay, okay I'll lay off, but it's so damn funny winding you up, Angel cakes. Now, what do you want? I'm a very busy man you know,” he asked me with his eyebrows raised.

He crossed his legs on the couch, and put his elbows on his knees. He rested his fist in his other hand, and then placed his chin onto his fists, readying himself for what I had to say. I chuckled at him, then put my serious face on, as I began to tell him what was going on.

“So, that phone call from my mom was to warn me that Tristan is on his way here. He was rambling on about stopping some ceremony and wanting to kill Mason, so that he can have me back,” I paused waiting for Evans reaction.

He put his legs back onto the floor and slumped back onto the couch. He kept pulling strange faces as if he was going over a conversation in his head, then rejecting it and trying a new one.

“So you know about the ceremony?” He asked cautiously. I furrowed my brow, I didn't have a clue what he was on about, but I assumed that Tristan was on about his Alpha ceremony. Evan wouldn't know about that, so he must mean another one. I shook my head in reply.

“Oh, thank God, Damien and Mason would go ape-shit, if they thought I'd told you, phew,” he exhaled with relief as he tilted his head back and ran both of his hands through his hair.

“Is it a ceremony for me?” I asked wanting to know what they had planned for me.

“Oh, Angel cakes. I have already said too much, they'll string me up by my balls if they knew I was talking to you about this stuff, sorry my lips are sealed,” he replied as he pretended to zip his mouth shut.

“Hmph, okay, I won't bug you about it. Now, what shall I do about Tristan?” I asked him.

I wanted to know what the ceremony thing was, but I really needed help with working out, how to resolve the Tristan wanting to kill Mason problem first.

“Oh, don't worry Freya, Tristan won't stand a chance. Mason will snap him like a twig,” he chuckled like the idea of Tristan actually killing Mason was preposterous.

I gasped at the thought.

“What! No, I don't want them to fight, I want to know how to avoid the whole situation,” I said pleading with him to help me.

“Oh, Angel cakes, there's nothing you can do. If Tristan comes here, Mason will kill him! You were very lucky to stop him last time. I think the only reason why you managed to stop Mason was because Tristan was in a coma, there was no thrill of the hunt,” he said then paused for air. “This time, Tristan will be a living werewolf target, and Mason's not going to be able to control his hunter's instincts. Especially, if Tristan shifts anywhere near his Fianna,” he finished what he was saying as he walked over to sit next to me.

I held my head in my hands trying to think of a plan, and Evan rubbed my back, trying to comfort me.

“Freya, your only option is to call Tristan and try to change his mind about coming here,” he said calmly as he stood up and walked towards the door.

He turned back towards me and pointed at the phone on the desk and said, “I'll keep the others distracted while you make the call.”

I got up and went back over to sit in Damien’s chair, then picked up the phone.

“Thanks, Evan,” I said while I dialed Tristan's number.

“No worries, Angel cakes, good luck,” he said as he flashed me a weak smile and then quietly closed the door behind him.

“Hey, it's Tristan, I can't answer the phone right now, leave a message after the beep and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.”

“Shit... Um, Tristan, it's me, I need to talk to you it's very important. Please call me back on this number. I love you so much,” I left a message and then hung up the phone.

I sat back and waited for him to call back. Ten minutes came and went and nothing, so I called him again.

“Hey, it's Tristan, I can't answer the phone right now, leave a message after the beep and I'll get back to you as soon as I can”

For fuck's sake, I screamed in my head.

“Tristan baby, please call me back, we need to talk, please I'm begging you. Okay, I love you,” I pleaded with him over the phone.

I slammed down the phone back down. I was really panicking, I wished he'd just answer the damn phone, so that I could try to convince him not to come. Or maybe, I could suggest about meeting him in town or something. God, why won't he answer? I waited another five minutes then tried again.

“Hey, it's Tristan, I can't answer the phone right now, leave a message after the beep and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.”

Oh my God, that's it! I'm fed up of begging, it obv isn't fucking working anyway.

“Tristan, pick up the game phone! I swear to the Gods if you don't ring me back in less than five damn minutes, you won't get a chance to kill Mason, because I will fly my ass out there, find you, and kick your ass myself. Ring me back, now!” I screamed down the phone then hung up. I'd had just about enough, I needed to get through to him and pissing him off might just do the trick.

Ring, ring, ring...

“Tristan?” I asked full of hope.

“What?” He replied angrily.

“Seriously, that's all you have to say. What?” I shouted at him.

“You're the one that rang me, screaming down the fucking phone. Now what do you want?” He asked sounding really pissed off with me.

The journey so far, obviously hasn't calmed him down at all, I thought.

“I screamed at you because you wouldn't call me back!”

“Well, that's because, I don't want to talk to you!” He said bluntly.

It really hurt and pissed me off, so I shouted at him again,

“So if you don't even want to talk to me, then why the hell did you tell my mom that you wanted us to get back together? And why the fuck are you coming here to kill Mason?”

I took in a deep breath, preparing to carry on my rant.

“I'd love to see him try! I'm gonna enjoy ripping the head off of that flea-bitten dog once and for all!” Mason yelled from the now open office door.

I glanced up in shock and gasped as I saw Mason, Evan, and Damien all in their fully ascended forms, standing in the doorway.

“Bring it on!” Tristan growled loud enough down the phone, for them all to hear, then he hung up on me.

They all turned around and sprinted out of the house, and I watched in horror as all three men took off down the dirt road, before flying up into the sky, ready to hunt down and kill my Tristan.
