Chapter 8
Freya Rose Mason had carried me back to bed, then to my surprise, he stripped down and got into the bed with me. I didn't know what to expect, but he was a gentleman and just held me for the rest of the night. I hated to admit it, but it was exactly what I'd needed. I cried for a lot of the night, while talking over and over about what had happened with Tristan over the past few weeks.
Mason just laid there listening to me talk, and he let me get it all off of my chest. I was expecting him to bitch about Tristan and tell me I'd be better off with him, but he didn't. He just comforted me, and it felt so comfortable opening up to him. Although, I had left out the part about Tristan forcing himself on me. I knew that Mason wouldn't have even tried to understand that part. So, it wasn't even worth it, and I was too exhausted to argue about it. I finally fell asleep in his arms with him gently stroking my hair. I had a good night's sleep and when I awoke it was light outside. Mason was still holding me tightly and I had my head on his chest. He had his arms draped around me, but it wasn't the usual death grip that I was used to with Tristan, it was relaxed and super comfortable.
I lifted my head off of his chest and then pulled my elbow up, so that I could rest my head on my hand. I stayed there for a while just watching him sleep. I knew it was a bit creepy, but I was in awe of how perfect he looked, he looked just like a sleeping angel. I chuckled silently to myself when I realized, he kinda is a sleeping angel, issn't he? I was a complete pervert, so I moved my gaze from his face and began gliding my eyes gradually down his amazingly chiseled body. I suddenly had an overwhelming need to softly kiss every one of his muscles. I lightly blushed when I tried to fight the urge to run my finger along his well-defined abs.
“Ahem,” he startled me as he cleared his throat and then chuckled.
I shot my head back around to look at his face. He was seductively biting his bottom lip and gazing at me with absolute lust turning his beautiful green eyes black.
“Um... I was just...” I stuttered as I sat myself up.
I was blushing so much and found it really hard to look him in the eyes, so I looked over towards the bathroom instead. He laughed and asked in a sexy husky voice, “Freya, were you just checking me out?”
I could feel his gaze burning right into the back of my head.
“N, of course not,” I protested.
He chuckled and grabbed my hand; sparks of electricity engulfed my arm and gave me goosebumps. I held back a moan as he placed my hand on his chest. It felt so hard and silky smooth, and it was burning lightly under my touch. I turned my head to look at my hand then lifted it slightly. I watched in awe, as tiny electrical bolts of light shot out of my fingers. They then delicately danced around as they connected with his skin.
Mason's breathing became heavy as I slid my hand down his chest and towards his abs. He moaned when I lifted my finger a few centimeters above his skin and let the electrical sparks trace along his hip and across his stomach. I flattened my hand and slowly slid it into his boxers. He arched back and groaned with pleasure when my hand found his erect member. I bit my lip and looked back at him with lust in my eyes. I couldn't hold my urges back any longer, my body needed him. I pulled my hand out of his boxers and threw my leg over his hips, so that I was riding him. He looked up at me with a pleasantly surprised look plastered across his face. I rubbed and wiggled my hips a little, pushing myself harder against him.
“Mmm,” he let out a sexy moan. “Um, Freya?” He asked suddenly with a sigh, and then threw his head back onto the pillow.
He covered his face with his hands, and I stopped grinding on him, and sat back up.
“Mason, what's up? Don't you want me?” I questioned in a sad voice.
“Oh, my God, Freya. I want you more than anything right now, trust me!” He blurted out and then sat up and held my waist. He stared into my eyes as he continued, “But I can't do it like this. If we do this, I want it to be because you want to be with me properly. Not just because you're hurting right now, and you need me to distract you from your pain.”
He said it as nicely as he could, but the rejection still hurt. He was right though; it was exactly what I was doing. I'd just been found out, and then dumped, which I understood, of course. I mean I totally deserved it, and sleeping with Mason to make myself feel better, wasn't fair on him, or Tristan. I sighed and nodded, lowering my head a little in shame.
“Don't be sad my, Fianna. I love you, and I will wait for you as long as it takes. I just don't want you doing something that you're going to regret afterwards, and then end up hating me for it. I couldn't live with that pain,” He said as he lifted my chin up, to look into my eyes.
I smiled and threw my arms around him. He held me as I buried my head into his neck.
“I have waited all my life for you Freya, I can't lose you now. So I will take anything I can get, even if that means me having to watch you be happy with someone else,” he said softly, as he rested his cheek on the top of my head.
I felt so bad for him, I wished I could turn off my love for Tristan and give him what he wanted. Even with Tristan hating me right now, I couldn't stop loving him. It's all such a mess, I thought to myself as I closed my eyes. Mason gradually lowered us down onto the bed. I rolled off of him and slumped back onto the bed, before he pulled me into his embrace.
“Thank you Mason,” I said as I laid my head on his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and we both fell back to sleep.

“Freya?” Damien spoke softly, waking me from my sleep.
I rubbed my eyes and looked over to him, he eyed Mason with a slight scowl, so I rolled my eyes at him and he looked back at me.
“Your mom is on the office phone,” he said quietly not wanting to wake Mason.
Damn it, I forgot to tell her I was leaving. I threw the covers off of Mason and me, crawled over the top of him and got off of the bed. He instantly stirred and quickly grabbed my arm again.
“Mmm,” I moaned slightly.
I wish my body wouldn't betray me every time he touched me, it's so damn embarrassing. Damien looked away clearly feeling uncomfortable with it all.
“Um, I'll wait downstairs for you,” he announced as he exited the room.
“Where do you think you're off to?” Mason asked with a sexy smirk on his face.
“My mom's on the phone,” I answered him back looking into his beautiful green eyes. I couldn't believe how they always made my heart flutter.
“Okay, I'll be down in a bit, I'm going to grab a shower,” he said while letting go of my arm and slowly getting out of the bed. “You can join me after your phone call if you'd like?” He asked with a wink, then walked over to the bathroom.
I tutted and shook my head at him, and he chuckled as he closed the bathroom door. I ran downstairs and met Damien in his office.
“Hey, mom,” I greeted my mom on the phone.
“Oh, honey you're okay,” she said with relief.
“Yeah, I'm okay, how'd you know I was here?” I asked her.
“Tristan came around here about half an hour ago and dumped all of your stuff in the front yard. I asked him what had happened, and he just shouted why don't you ask Freya! She's probably with that piece of, 'You know what', Mason,” she said sounding quite annoyed.
I didn't think she was annoyed with me. She was confused and annoyed with Tristan. I hadn't got around to telling her that I'd cheated on Tristan with Mason, so her annoyance or anger might get redirected in a few seconds. She started talking again and I let her continue, “I went through your phone and tried to ring this Mason guy, but he didn't answer so I tried Damien instead,” she said with a huff at the end.
She really didn't like talking about my dad.
“Yeah, I left the phone behind when I left Tristan's. I'm sorry mom, I should have let you know that I was leaving,” I said in a low tone as I watched Damien leave the room. “Look mom, don't be mad at Tristan though, this is all my fault, not his. See, when I ran away, I told you I'd met another hunter called Mason, and that he was my soul mate, or Fennid. Do you remember?” I asked her, I then paused for her to think about it.
“Yes vaguely,” she replied sounding unconvincing.
“Well I kinda slept with him, and Aiden told Tristan,” I said barely above a whisper.
I couldn't believe I was telling her this, I felt so ashamed.
“Oh, Freya. What were you thinking? Wasn't Tristan in a coma when you ran away?” She asked sounding so disappointed in me.
I hung my head down and rubbed my forehead with my hand. I took in a deep breath and answered her question honestly,
“Yes, he was. I wasn't really thinking mom my head was all over the place. I felt weak, and Clara had said some things. I was just so lost and so scared of losing Tristan, that I let something happen that I shouldn't have. Mason is my Fennid but that is still no damn excuse.”
I tried to hold back the tears as Damien walked back into the room holding a cup. I looked up and he silently mouthed the words, 'I'm sorry'. I guess he felt a bit awkward seeing me cry, I smiled at him and pointed at the cup.
“Coffee?” I asked.
“Yeah,” he whispered with a smile. He walked over and placed it on the desk.
“Thanks dad,” I said to him while he was walking back out of the office.
He turned around and smiled at me then quietly closed the door behind him.
“Dad, now is it?” My mom asked with a tut.
“Mom please, as if I haven't got enough going on right now!” I moaned at her.
I could completely understand where she was coming from, she's had to struggle to bring me up single handed. Now Damien swans back into my life with all this craziness, and the first place I run to when I'm upset is here. I'd feel pretty crappy too, but I don't know, I just needed to be around people where I could be myself. I could be my normal human self around my mom, but now with all this hunter stuff, I had to be careful in case I ascended. She said about me burning a human’s skin if I touched them while I'm ascended, but I didn't know yet if there were other dangers, and until I can fully control my emotions and ascensions I didn't feel safe being around her.
“Sorry honey it's just... Urgh, he makes me so mad,” she said through gritted teeth.
“I know mom, I'm just not coping too well, and I don't want to accidentally ascend in front of you and hurt you. So, here is the safest place for me right now,” I said to her hoping that she would try to understand why I chose to come here and not go home.
“I know honey, you made the right choice. I just feel bad that I can't be with you to help you through this. It was stupid what you did, and Tristan has every right to be upset. But to just break up with you and throw your things out, without trying to work through it, or bother to even listen to the reasons behind it, is completely childish on his part. That is why I'm angry with him,” she said with a huff.
Knock, knock...
“Hold on mom, someone's at the door… Yeah?” I asked.
The door opened and Mason popped his head in, he held through two plates of bacon, eggs, sausages, beans and fried mushrooms. He had a giant cheeky grin on his face, this dude is just too cute.
“Breakfast?” He asked while widening the grin on his face.
I nodded my head and returned the smile, he set them down on the desk and pulled out Damien's chair for me, he bowed like a waiter making me chuckle.
“Did I just hear right? Is this Mason guy making you breakfast?” My mom asked with intrigue.
“Um, yeah, he has mom,” I replied vaguely.
“Aww that is so sweet, Tristan's never done that has he?” She asked in a patronizing voice.
I couldn't help myself and I just snapped.
None of this situation was Tristan's fault, it was mine. Even though he hated me right now, I was hopeful that he could talk to me and eventually forgive me. So, I didn't want anyone bad mouthing him. I still love him, I thought to myself.
I began to moan at my mom down the phone,
“Mom please! Okay you're right, he has never made me breakfast, lunch or even dinner, but to be perfectly frank, I wouldn't have eaten it even if he did, the guy can't cook for shit. He did, however, decorate and furnish the whole pool house for me. Drove me to school and picked me up every single day. Nearly got killed by vampires, and got put in a coma while trying to protect me. He even punched his dad, the Alpha, in the face when he thought he was defending me against a liar. Look, sorry mom, I've got to go. I'll ring you later, love you, bye.”
I was really mad that I didn't even give her a chance to reply. I just huffed, and then slammed the phone down on the hook. I looked up at Mason and he stared back at me with a absent kind of expression. He was standing there with his mouth wide open, clearly shocked at my outburst. I cleared my throat and held my hand out pointing to the chair opposite me. He stood there for a little longer, just staring at me, so I snapped at him too, “Sit. Eat.”
A smirk grew across his face as he obeyed me and sat down. I started to eat, and he continued to stare at me, I scowled at him, illuminating my eyes a little.
“What!?” I asked in an infuriated voice.
“Oh… Um nothing, you're just really cute when you're angry, that's all,” he said and then chuckled as he lowered his head smirking to himself.
I rolled my eyes at him but struggled to keep a grin from forming on my face.
“Shut up, and eat your damn food,” I playfully ordered him.
“Yes ma'am,” he replied, pretending to be a soldier as he saluted me.
I scowled at him and pursed my lips together pretending to be mad at him. He closed his eyes and burst into laughter; I saw the absolute perfect opportunity to get him back. I picked up a fried mushroom and launched it right at his head, it hit him straight in the eye then slid down his cheek and landed on his hand.
His laughter immediately ceased as he opened his un-splattered eye, keeping the one splattered with mushroom grease tightly closed. He screwed up his face and slowly ran his hand down his cheek wiping the grease away, all the while staring at me with his one good eye. I couldn't hold it in any longer, and I burst out laughing. I think I even snorted a few times. Tears were streaming down my face by this point. I went to slap the table as my laughter roared, but as I brought my hand down to connect with the table, I caught my fork handle, and sent beans flying up and into the air. They came crashing down on top of my head and dripped down my face.
I sat there in shock leaving my mouth hanging open, Mason opened his one good eye so wide, that I thought it was going to pop right out of his head. All of a sudden, he cracked up, he was laughing so damn hard he leaned sideways and fell right out of his chair. That made me crack up even more, and the pair of us were in hysterics and barely able to breathe. The door suddenly flew open and Evan shouted,
“What the hell's going on in here?”
He strutted into the room, then froze when he saw Mason doubled over on the floor in the fetal position, and me sitting there with tears streaming down my face and beans stuck in my hair.
“I don't even want to know,” he said while rolling his eyes, before strolling right back out again.
We heard Damien ask him what was going on and he just replied, “They’ve both gone fucking mad.”
Mason and I looked at each other and cracked up again. I slowly managed to calm myself down, but I had laughed so much it hurt. I mean it actually physically hurt.
“I've got a damn stitch,” I said between giggles.
“Me too!” Mason replied when he finally dragged himself off of the floor and onto the couch.
I got up and walked over to the couch, slumping down beside him. He put his arm around my shoulders, and I went to lay my head on his chest.
“Eww, no way!” He shouted out, while holding my head away with his fingertips.
“What!?” I asked in total confusion.
“Na ah, you're not putting your nasty bean hair all over my nice clean shirt,” he snapped.
I smirked as an evil idea popped in to my mind. I rapidly swatted his hand away. I threw my head forwards, and rubbed my bean-soaked hair and face all over his chest, before jumping up and running out of the room.
“Ahhhhh gross, I can't believe you just did that, Freya!” I heard him shout as I giggled and ran through the hall towards the stairs.
Damien was coming down the stairs with the cold cup of chocolate that I'd forgotten to drink last night. His eyes grew wide as he saw me hurtling towards him.
“Quick, quick, move!” I shouted at him mid giggle.
He promptly pushed his back up against the wall and I ran past him.
“Freya, I'm gonna freaking kill you,” I heard Mason yell as he ran up the stairs after me.
I giggled and sprinted straight into my bedroom. I was going to run into the bathroom and lock it, so that he couldn't get to me, but he was too damn fast for me. He wrapped his arms around my waist before I had a chance to reach the bathroom. He pulled me down onto the floor then rolled over so that he was on top of me.
“Not fast enough my little, Fianna,” he said with a smirk, then started to tickle me.
I giggled and squirmed trying to get away from him.
“Don't, I'm gonna pee myself!” I screamed at him.
He laughed at me and then grabbed my hands and held them above my head.
I lay there breathing heavily and trying to catch my breath, as he suddenly leaned in and kissed me. I moaned as sparks flew. He seemed to panic and pulled away from me. We gazed into each other's fully illuminated eyes for a few seconds and then, without thinking I reached up placing my hands around his neck and pulled him down, smashing his lips onto mine. Oh no, Freya not again, I thought to myself as I let myself succumb to the lust.
