Chapter 117

Chapter 117

Nelson

I never knew I had so much hatred for Titus. Seeing him left a bitter taste on my lips. I know engaging him alone is suicidal, so I had to ask Phoenix for help. He was happy to help and the fact that Titus is a greater enemy helped. My only anger is that we started fighting after we had exhausted ourselves.

"Come on guys, you can do more than this."

Titus was having fun fighting the both of us. He made sure to evade our punches as he had got to confirm that we have powerful punches. We tried our best to defend his punches too. He got us more than we got him and his punches were.

"You should transform, don't you mutts get stronger by transforming."

He was right but I feel like we would lose to him the moment we transformed. This is a battle of speed rather than strength, transforming will make us stronger but slower and it will give him an upper hand.

"We are not moving in sync." Phoenix said panting and I couldn't agree more.

"We have been fighting as enemies, so it won't be easy being an ally." Phoenix said.

"We have to try or we stand to lose everything we hold dear."

He dashed towards Titus and I smiled inwardly and went after him. He took the right and I took the left. With our movement, Titus was overwhelmed.

'Grab me.'

He linked me and without doubting him or having a second thought, I grabbed Titus, restricting his hand. With him unable to defend, Phoenix used the opportunity to deliver punches after punches. I heard a ripping sound at each punch and it felt exhilarating. The punches were so powerful they punched us back. Phoenix didn't give him a moment of breath and I held on to him tightly that if it wasn't for his steel bone, I would have crushed him. I started feeling his blood soaking my back and I was like a pound father revealing his son's achievement.

"Enough!"

Titus screamed and kneed my guts so hard that I felt my inside being crushed. He freed his hands and tried to punch Phoenix but he was fast enough to stop it and headbutted him. It was so powerful that the two sustained a cut.

"I must admit, your son is stronger than you." Titus commended Phoenix and I wonder if he is truly getting his strength from somewhere else.

"I never knew you could bleed. You know, with so much death coming from you, I never knew you have blood inside you." I said and Phoenix looked at his bloody knuckles.

"I wonder if this dark stench should be considered blood."

"The stench happens to be in you too."

Titus lunged at him and I shook him off balance by delivering a roundhouse kick to his head. I am seeing Titus in a form I never thought was possible. I noticed his wounds weren't healing like us either. His breath was now becoming heavy and he is invincible as I thought. Maybe, if Phoenix was the first person Titus met, he would have made a better decision than I did.

"You must be happy joining him to fight me. Do you think it will make Xena look at you with happiness?" He laughed and wiped the blood off his face.

"You will never be able to look at her pretty face after I tear your heart out. And the saddest part is that you won't be able to unite with her even in death."

He grinned and I rushed towards him without waiting for Phoenix to assist me. Fighting him alone was stupid because I just became his punching bag.

"Don't let him get to your head." Phoenix said as he came and dragged me away.

"You Alpha, why do you continue to fight? Victory will be more and everything you hold dear will be reduced to nothing. I heard you saying your illogical power didn't come from me, how naive."

"But it didn't, my powers and strength came from the assurance of my people and from countless training in the mountains. From the shoulder of bearing my responsibilities, from the pride of being a father. And above all, from my mate and I tell you this moment, nothing can stop me from going back to her arms."

"Mate you said, you are stuck with the same madness. I will open your eyes to reality."

They both engaged in a single combat and I was unable to help. Phoenix did better than I did and there was no telling who would win. I feel like he is getting stronger at every passing moment. He was right, his strength and power didn't solely come from Titus. Something in him was making him stronger at every fleeting moment.

"I never expected that someone like you could exist." Titus said.

'Better stand up, I am barely holding on.'

Phoenix linked me and I noticed he took more damage than he delivered. Truly I was a fool having fallen for Titus's taunt. He planned to fight one on one and he succeeded. I slowly stood up and stood beside my son, yes I dare to call him my son because he has opened my eyes.

"I am sorry for the pain I may have caused you and your people. I have been blind and you have opened up my eyes. You are the true Khan and Xena would be proud." I patted his back.

"You can apologize after we have taken him down." He knelt and took the arrowhead that was lying on the ground.

"Muster all your strength."

We both dashed towards Titus and I could almost taste my own death and I knew there would be no more coming back. I remembered the beautiful face of Xena and her contagious smile. Titus transformed into a creature that closely resembles the harridan and the only difference was his wings. He flew to us and grabbed us by the neck, he got stronger and I feel whatever Phoenix wanted to do is now at the risk of failing.

"No!"

We heard the voice and it was like everything paused, Titus flew down and let us drop to the ground as he stared at Dianna. She must have felt the fear of her mate and came out. Titus was enchanted by her beauty just like my own mate enchanted him. He might be thinking she was still the same person.

"Xena."

He muttered and took a slow step towards her. I took the opportunity to drive a long arrow in his heart. He squealed and turned towards me in anger, he drove his hands to my chest and grabbed onto my heart. I gasped as I felt him squeezing it.

"Aaah!"

He screamed as Phoenix stabbed the arrowhead to his skull and twisted it to make sure it reached his brain. With his free hand, he stabbed Phoenix to the chest with his long nails but he was able to stop him before he could grab onto his heart.

"If I die, the part of me in you will also die and that power that made you stand above the rest will be no more." He bragged as he started turning gray.

"I have told you, I have nothing of you in me." Phoenix spoke with blood in his mouth.

I used my last strength to rip out Titus's head. Although he was unable to pull out my heart, I am sure he has succeeded in his plan and I will no longer see the light of tomorrow. I saw Dianna running towards us with tears in her eyes, her eyes were getting heavier and it is not such a bad thing if she is the last thing I saw.

"Khan." I addressed him as Khan which he is.

"Father." He called and I smiled as the word sounded nice.

"Take care of the world, obstacles will always come your way but you have something greater. Take care of her and please, lay me next to my mate."

I may not be able to see her in the afterlife but I will smile in hell knowing my body is laying beside her.

"Phoenix."

Dianna cried beside her fallen Mate. I wanted to console her but I couldn't even raise my arms. I started hearing the scream of agony from my drifters, I guess the power that made them immortal is leaving them. They will all die and I guess it is better than way. We fossils should leave the world for this present generation.

"I await you in hell."

I heard the voice of Titus and smiled, I am going to hell after all.

"Stuffer no more." Dianna said beside me and I turned to her.

Tears rolled down my eyes and I deeply regretted the life that I have lived. My eyes closed as I drew my last breath and another chapter of my existence had just opened.

Dianna Pov.

Since the fight started I was unable to feel the unrest of Khan, his fear of not being able to protect us all. I was unable to ease his burden a little bit last night by giving him the flag. He accepted it as the symbol of the Nation. I was unable to endure the agony of not being able to help him even after my training.

I left everyone in the care of Nora and Cassie and went out to see if I could be of any help to him. I noticed that Khan has started drawing strength from me and he only ever does that when he has no other option. The city looked deserted and I am sure every other city would be hiding in their separate bunker. I went outside the city wall and saw them battling a strange man together. This was unexpected, I never once thought that they would fight together. I was surprised they were fighting together but what was more surprising was the man strong enough to handle them. With the fear of Phoenix's life being in danger, I screamed.

"No!" He dropped them and looked at me like a long-lost love.

"Same face." My face felt familiar to him and I was stunned.

Before he could take a step towards me, the two Khan delivered a killing blow. He died but not before delivering a killing blow too. I rushed to them and came to take care of my Khan. The drifters started dying off and the first Khan died.
