Chapter 116

Chapter 116

Khan

"This flag here is the symbol of Anu Ukwu, in generations to come stories of today would go down in history. Children would be taught about how bravely we fought to defend the walls and keep the flag alive. I tell you, my people, together we will win." They yelled and dashed towards the enemy with a newfound energy.

There was no telling who would win as the battle progressed. As fate may have it, every strong drifter was engaged in battle with a strong Alpha. Nelson had no attention in the battle, all his attention was on me and I could feel his emotions. I feel it was because we are connected that was why I could feel his happiness from all the blood being spewed in the battle. I wanted to fight him as fast as possible but I can't seem to do so. Not because I was afraid but because we were both waiting for the climax. At a point, I started feeling my heart throbbing with excitement and nothing else mattered but the single fact that I am about to have my greatest battle. I no longer paid attention to my people and I was unable to move my eyes away from Nelson. I am shaking with excitement and waiting for the moment to come.

'You are better than he is.'

I heard the voice of the beautiful woman that I love in my head and that was all I needed to call me back to order.

'Thanks, my love.' I replied and went ahead to help my people.

What is the gain if I win and all my people are dead? I saw the disappointment in his face when I entered the battle to save my people.

"We have Khan."

Farkas cheered and they started pushing the enemies back. As we started winning, Nelson roared and I knew this is the moment we have been waiting for.

"Brace yourself, we are about to witness a natural disaster." Fenris said and the earth started to tremble as Nelson made his way down to me. Without an iota of fear, I went to meet him and everyone parted ways for the both of us. The ambience in the air was so thick that the humans, heretics and some weak wolves had to move farther back in order to breathe.

"Let us have fun, Khan." Nelson said and for the first time, he addressed me as Khan.

Fenris Pov.

The greatest face-to-face in history is about to go down. They two stood before each other without moving a muscle but we could barely stand the ambience. It has been a long time since my brother released all his ambience. So at a point, we forgot how powerful he truly is. I started with the illusion that with much training and hard work, I will one day get to his level. Seeing him now had made me realize how stupid I was for having such a thought. The two are on a level of their own. They can only be described as a natural disaster, I can't imagine what damage would be done when they start fighting.

"It is getting harder to breathe."

Farkas looked around and people were still moving back, creating more space for the two Khans.

"It is stupid to think we ever thought of taking the power from him."

"Tell me what I don't know."

Farkas started to talk but stopped the moment the two started fighting. Even with my speed and quick reflexes, I could hardly see their movements. The only thing that was being heard was the sound of their blow, it sounded like thunder. The earth shatters whenever they step on it and even the clouds start to darken.

"Are they affecting the weather now?" Farkas asked.

"They are truly natural disasters."

They struck themselves so hard that they were sent flying in the opposite direction. My brother destroyed a part of the wall as he landed on it and the progenitor landed farther back since nothing was there to stop him. His body burrowed inside the snow though. I was glad that my brother didn't land on anyone because nobody would have survived that. The progenitor stood up smiling and it was clear that he was enjoying the fight.

"In all my years of immortality, nobody has entertained me like this." The progenitor said.

The iron arrow was sent flying towards him from the wall inside and it is faster than when it was being shot with the bow. The progenitor twisted his body to avoid that and it flew past him. When he turned back, he had blood just below his eyes. He touched it and smiled, how can he drive so much fun from this. Four more arrows were sent his way and each one was faster than the former. He dodged them all with minimal effort. My brother came out with one arrow in his hand and I felt my heart swell with pride for having such a powerful being as my brother.

"I am proud of him." Farkas said with a smile and I nodded. Most times, we tend to forget that he is our younger brother and as such, we should have been the one protecting him.

"My turn!"

The progenitor yelled and then took the arrows my brother threw at him and started throwing them back. My brother defended them too and when they had only one arrow each, they threw it at each other but the arrows collided and broke midair.

"Imagine the power."

They ran at each other and started fighting. There was no telling who would win every blow and blood the progenitor gives, my brother returns. Even the drifters were so engrossed in the fight that enemies were now standing side by side. Well, no one would want to miss a single second of the fight just because you want to kill your enemy. I noticed the injuries they gave each other weren't healing and they are beginning to get tired.

"They are not even getting tired."

Smith said and I noticed that they are yet to see any difference in their fight. I am only able to see it because I am the one closest to them. I looked at the dead body of the drifter that I fought with, maybe he would have been able to see it too if he was still alive. He was even stronger than Adoff and I was afraid at one point that I would lose my life to him. But, with the distraction of my brother, I was able to kill him.

"They are getting tired." Farkas whispered.

"Don't you think if we help our brother, he will win instantly?" I looked at my naive brother and scoffed.

Although their movement has dulled, how do except to help in such a fight? A single blow from them will kill us and joining the fight will only be a disadvantage for my brother because he will now try to protect us too.

"We are helping him by not doing anything. Please, don't have any foolish ideas because I don't want to lose a brother today." He grumbled but understood what I meant anyways.

They continued fighting and also changing the topography of the arena. After a while, they stepped away from each other breathing heavily. They must have been in severe pain judging from the wounds and blood gushing out of their body. I wonder what is stopping them from transforming. Maybe transforming wouldn't make a difference for them or that they are waiting for the right moment. They started to move closer to each other but stopped abruptly and looked up to the sky. I looked up to the sky too but there was nothing and I wonder what it was that made them ignore each other.

"He is coming."

The progenitor said and that was when I felt the strong stench of death. It was so strong that I felt my life leaving me. Everyone was also feeling the same, even humans and their hearts gripped with fear. While we are still guessing what was the cause of the phenomenon, a man appeared hovering in the sky. He has bat wings and looks pale with his gray hair. I instantly knew that we stood no chance against him. He looked at us like we were ants and he could step on us anytime he wanted.

"Nelson, how has immortality been treating you?" He asked as he looked at the progenitor and slowly flew down and his wings retracted into his body. What sort of creature was he, I wondered. He then looked at my brother and smiled.

"Are you not a walking miracle?" He said and turned over to the progenitor again.

"He is your son?"

"Not really, he is from my lineage." The progenitor answered and the man seemed surprised by the news.

"You were able to have children?" His eyes widened and he got serious.

"That must have been too much for Xena to handle."

The next thing that happened was surprising as the progenitor delivered a powerful blow on the man.

"You knew and yet, you still turned me into a monster!" He yelled.

"You were already a monster, Nelson my friend." He stood up unscathed and I wondered if it was even possible to survive such a blow.

"I must admit, you have gotten stronger than expected."

"If you still want to save what you hold dearly, you must work with me. He is the true villain of the story." The progenitor told my brother and they both stood together.

Their wounds were still fresh and they are yet to recover from their fight against each other but they want to fight the person who defies all reasoning. I wanted to help them because I don't need anyone telling me that the man is a greater threat than the drifters.

"Is he the reason for your powers?" My brother asked.

"And even yours too." The progenitor replied.

"Speak for yourself, I know where my strength comes from." My brother denied his claim and the progenitor smiled.

"Let the fun begin."

The man said and they all ran towards each other. I felt powerless as I am only going to be nothing but a spectator in history's greatest battle.
