Theo's POV:
I open my eyes as the reflection of the sun hit my face. I can see clearly that it is daybreak already.
I turn to see the most beautiful woman I know sleeping beside me as her hand snuggle around me. She looks so calm, gentle, and beautiful I could stare at her face all day.
But unfortunately my moment is cut short when the door opens revealing Haula's mom and Lisa following. Haula's mom seems to notice Haula still sleeping as she gestures for me to meet her outside.
I thought she said she wouldn't be able to come early this morning, that was what Haula told me.
"I asked you to take care of my daughter, not sleep on the same bed." She blasts me as I walk out.
"I'm sorry ma’am I didn't want to leave her alone." I reply.
"I'm just kidding, look at you scared." Haula's mom and Lisa laugh making me glare at Lisa and I turn to smile at her mom.
Oh I have to be scared she's the mother of my girlfriend and she could tell her daughter not to see me again.
"Haula told me you wouldn't make it here early?" I ask her.
"Yes I thought I wouldn't, but I forgot to bring her things yesterday so I brought it here today, I'll be getting late soon so can you give it her, I'll pick her up by 5:00 instead." Mrs. Mathews instructs as I take the bag from her hand.
"Okay sure," I nod. "I'll be leaving today." I say seeing as her mood drops.
"But you just got here," She says before raising her finger up. "Don't even say it, I know you came for a mission I get it." She replies but I sense a hint of sadness in her.
"I'm not going completely I'll be back tomorrow, I just need to file my report that's all. Lisa and I will be back, I already informed Haula." I say sounding apologetic.
"That's good then, I thought you were leaving. Well as long as she knows and you'll be back as promised. It’s okay by me, you need to do your job and I can't stop you." shesay looking at me then to Lisa which makes me realize how understanding she is. Now I know where Haula gets that from.
"Thank you for understanding." I tell her as she smiles and pats my shoulder.
"So I have to get going, tell her I miss her already." Haula's mom says trying to leave but something else is bothering me.
"Mrs. Mathews," I call. "Yes Theo," She turns back.
"I don't know what you'll say about what I'm about to tell you but I would really appreciate it if you give me your blessing and support me." Lisa stares at me in confusion as a huge grin begins to appear on her face knowing what I want to say.
"Okay what is it?" She asks.
"I want to propose to Haula when I get back," I tell her as her face holds complete shock. I guess she wasn't expecting that.
"Oh Theo, are you sure? I mean you guys have not known each other for a year now. I know she loves you so much and you do, but I don't want you to make a decision you're not ready to face.
I appreciate you wanting to marry my daughter but I want you to know what you're saying. You might be in love now, but I can't promise what will happen later." She contemplates.
"I'm very sure, I'm not just in love with her cause I haven't known her for so long, I'm in love with her cause I really love her. we are not going to get married immediately as I kind of asked her opinion on marriage and she said she wanted to be done with college first which I respect, I'm just going to propose." I tell her.
"Does she know you want to propose?" Haula's mom asks.
"No she doesn't I didn't tell her, not yet until I have your blessing then she'll know when I do it." I inform while Lisa continues to stare at me like I've grown a horn.
"Um... Well that's great Theo. I would love you to be my son in law." Haula's Mom replies as a smile escaped my lips and I didn't even know where the urge came from to I hug her.
"Thank you so much, I promise I will do everything I can to make your daughter happy." I pull away as she laughs.
"I trust you." She says and hearing that makes me feel so happy and content. Now I just pray Haula says yes.
"One more thing. I would like you to be there the day I propose to her she would really be happy if you were and can you not mention this to her yet,"I say also looking at Lisa.
"Why are you looking at me? I won't." She raises her hand in defeat as we both laugh.
"Sure I wouldn't mention it and okay I would be there, just send me the place and time." She agrees. "I have to get going now, I'm going to be late. Thank you again Theo." She pulls me in for a hug.
"No thank you Mrs. Mathew's." I hug her and then she leaves. "Am I dreaming? you're going to be a husband," Lisa squeals.
"Do you think she'll say yes?" I ask her the question that has been bothering my mind ever since I decided to propose to Haula. I'm scared shitless that she'll say no.
"Hey, look at me. From what I have seen and known she is in love with you as much as you are in love with her, so don't worry about it I'm sure she wouldn't say no." Lisa reassures me as my doubt becomes lighter.
"Thanks Lisa. Who knew you could be such an adviser?" I tease her. "Don't push it," She yells and leaves as I go back to Haula.
I enter the room dropping the bag on the chair and going back to lay by her side.
I guess time will tell.
**************
"I'm going to miss you." Haula holds my arm as we stare at each other. The plane is about to leave and the rest of the team are already in it, but I can't seem to leave just yet.
"And I'll miss you more, do you know how much it pains me to leave but I have to, I'll be back tomorrow okay? Just think of it as some hours apart and not a journey," I hold her face in my hands as I assure her.
"Okay. Call me when you get there." She informs me.
"Of course." I say to her before pulling her close to me bringing our lips together and kissing her.
"You'll be late." She says as we pull away. "I love you." I say.
"I love you too" She hugs me then pull away so I can go.
"Don't worry, we'll be back soon." Lisa tells her as they hug each other. Seems like they got along better than I thought, but again why won't they, those are two amazing people I know.
"I'll be expecting you guys." Haula responds before Lisa goes up the plane. I waved at her one last time as she does the same and off we go.
The ride is silent as none of us has nothing to say but just stay quiet enjoying the silence. Lisa and I talked a lot but sometimes we just kept shut as there is nothing else to say.
We arrive at our base after hours of flight as we get down to be received by the General and all some soldiers standing out and clapping.
The sight just too beautiful as I smile brightly and the rest of the team chuckle and smile in happiness. This is what I call a team.
"Congratulations!" The General speaks after we saluted to him. We all smile in the happiness everyone shares as it was that that kept us together.
We get in as the whole place is filled with drinks and balloons filling the place up, and there is a chart reading 'welcome back soldiers'.
Having staying in the army for as long as I can remember this is the best thing that has happened for some years now.
We drink, chat, and laugh a lot as I remembered the last time we had something like this, it was with the Major, as it was also a fun moment also and to be honest, I miss him but then I learned he poisoned me.
But I won't be like him as everything I had of anger towards him is gone. Now I have found a new way of happiness, a new person and new people. Haula and these people. The ones that will keep me going when I feel like giving up every time.
We go in for report as we write them and submit. I also hear a new Major is going to be appointed very soon as the previous Major has been taken away from
here to an army cell where he would be given his punishment. I do pity him cause he did it all for his family.
I don't know what I would have done if I was put in that situation. I just hope it never happens to any of us, cause the test with family is the hardest to pass.
Lisa explains things to the General as he allows us to go for a two months break before getting back, which means I get to spend two good month with Haula before getting back for duty.
We change our clothes as we book our flight and get ready to fly back. I'm going back.
