Chapter 55
As agreed, James remained low for a while after his encounter with Noemi at Lisa's shop. How he got to know he'd meet her there was still a mystery to her.
Grandma Nina continued with her so-called exercise anytime she had the opportunity to. Especially when Noemi was not around.
Life goes on, the deal with Gareth Telecommunications, Chief Charles and Dr. Veronica Ramirez got sealed and they became partners. This brought a great oppression to other opposition telecommunication companies.
And the expansion project began amidst Jacob and Noemi wedding preparation.
Nathan on the other hand, got discharged from the hospital. Jacob paid all his bills including the treatment bills, his debt to Mr. Lionel Gareth. He also gave him money for his upkeep.
Nathan was very happy, he apologised for his hatred towards Jacob and he proposed for a friendship which Jacob accepted.
This had always been what Noemi wanted, for the two of them to get close. Noemi could not thank Jacob enough for his generosity not minding how Nathan had wronged him.
Day by day, Noemi and Jacob's love grew. But Mr. Lionel Gareth stood his ground, he knew he was not going to attend the wedding ceremony if his son should marry Noemi.
He knew he couldn't stop Jacob from being the CEO of Gareth Telecommunications. Not for anything, but for the recent success and growth he had brought to the company at large.
The anticipation in the air was real as Noemi and Jacob's wedding day approached. It was exactly two weeks before the big occasion, and preparations were in full swing.
Meanwhile, Victor remained Noemi's guard. He would follow her whenever and wherever she went as instructed by his master's son, Jacob.
The couple, along with their friends and family, had worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail was perfect.
However, Lisa, Noemi's loyal friend and companion, had taken charge of many of the arrangements.
She was involved in many activities, ensuring that everything fell into place accordingly. The bride and groom were immensely grateful for her dedication.
Meanwhile, Mr. Gareth sat in his deluxe office, his brow furrowed in deep thinking.
He had just witnessed the splendid wedding preparations that were taking place for Noemi and Jacob, and it left him in a state of mixed feelings.
Mr. Gareth knew he had underestimated the couple's determination and their love for each other.
In a state of weakness, Mr. Lionel picked up his phone and dialled James' number. It had been a while since they had crossed paths, and he had avoided involving James in his son's affairs for years.
But the growing success of the wedding preparations was beginning to weigh on him.
As the phone began to ring, Mr. Lionel Gareth couldn't help but feel a sense of regret for ever allowing James back into his life. He was afraid he could fail this time again.
He had wished to keep his association with James hidden from Jacob, but it seemed the time for secrecy was coming to an end.
After a few rings, James picked up, and his voice was filled with surprise. "Mr. Lionel Gareth," he said, and continued. "It's been a while. What can I do for you sir?"
"I want to see you in my office right away, it is urgent and needs attention." Jacob's father said over the phone.
"Okay sir, I shall be on my way." James said from the other end.
The call ended and Mr. Gareth's mind was full of different thoughts. In less than 20 minutes, a hard knock was made on the door, it was James.
From inside, Mr Gareth opened the door from where he sat with a remote control in his left hand. The door opened itself and James' figure came into view.
"Hello sir, I am here as requested. Please tell me what to do and I will implement it." He said as he took a seat and sat.
Without wasting any time, Mr. Gareth went straight to the reason why he called him.
"I called you here because I need to discuss something of great importance. I have just seen the wedding preparations for Jacob and Noemi, and it is far more exquisite than I ever predicted."
James, sitting across from Mr. Gareth, leaned forward, his curiosity evident. "So, what do you want me to do about it?"
Mr. Lionel Gareth's eyes bore into James, and his voice was filled with frustration. "I want to know what you are planning to do to ensure that this wedding does not take place. You assured me that you could handle this situation, and it is time for you to deliver on your promise."
James heaved a sigh, he realised the gravity of the situation. He had been staying low, trying to avoid Jacob's watchful eye, but the time for action was approaching with the bachelor's eve on the horizon.
"I understand your concerns, Sir," James began, "but I had to keep a low profile because Jacob has been monitoring my movements. I want you to be rest assured that I have a plan, and the wedding will not happen as long as I am on the case."
Jacob's father listened intently, though his doubts and fears hung in the air.
He had put his trust in James to handle the situation, and he hoped that James had a foolproof plan to disrupt the wedding and bring Noemi back into his control.
With a nod, Mr. Gareth dismissed James. He placed all his hopes on James' ability to execute his plan successfully.
The fate of Noemi and Jacob's wedding now rested in the hands of the man he had once trusted to handle the most delicate matters.
As James left Mr. Gareth's office, he could not shake off the weight of the forthcoming task.
He was about to embark on a mission that would test his trickery and resourcefulness to the limit.
The success of his plan would determine whether Noemi and Jacob's love story continued to blossom or if it would be ruined by his actions.
With such determination in his heart, James stepped out of the office building, knowing that the clock was ticking, and the bachelor's eve was fast approaching.
He must not disappoint Mr. Lionel Gareth. His plan needed to be flawless, and the stakes had never been higher. The battle to control the destiny of Noemi and Jacob was about to reach its climax.
