Chapter 52

Chapter 52
Although Althea was seated on the comfortable chair, she could not sit still at all. Her heart was racing fast, and her fists were clenched tightly together as she watched the unusually calm Damian, waiting to see what he was planning to do to her.

She thought for sure that she was going to be punished once Damian brought her back to his house, the last time she attempted to run away, she had been locked up in a dark room for a few days after all.

Althea was prepared for all of these scenarios, however, none of those things happened.

Instead, she was led back to her chambers, the maids were even more polite to her. They were people serving her at every turn, and they seemed scared to make her unhappy.

Althea felt like she was going crazy from all of this. Damian was definitely angry that she tried to escape once again, so why was he not doing anything to her?

The worst part was that she has not seen her personal maid that usually served her ever since she got back.

All of the people who were with her before she escaped had vanished.

Deep down, Althea was scared that Damian had done something to those people as punishment.

When Damian sent one of his guards to call her, instead of being scared, Althea was actually relieved. She thought that he was finally going to punish her and get this over with

However, when she got to the large hall, a king and queen sized chair was placed next to each other, and Damian was already sitting on the king sized chair, with a sinister look on his face.

Althea was led to the queen sized chair and she finally could not sit still anymore.

"What exactly are you planning to do to me, Damian? If you are angry at me for running away, you can come to me and punish me! After all, I was the one who wanted to do this on my own!" Althea snapped at Damian.

His attitude these days was driving her crazy, and she didn't want anyone else to suffer because of her.

Damian turned to her, his eyes cold. Althea could not tell what he was thinking from his gaze and she swallowed hard.

Damian was a deep man, impossible to read. It made her scared, she had never been this afraid in her life before.

Finally, after it seemed an eternity had passed, Damian opened his mouth and started to speak to her again.

"Don't worry, Althea, you are going to find out what's happening soon," Damian assured her.

Althea frowned, confusion on her face, "what are you ..."

She was still speaking when two of Damian's guards roughly dragged someone in.

Althea's eyes went wide as she jumped up from the chair that she was sitting on.

"What is going on here?! Let go of Alicia right now!" Althea screamed out.

Alicia was the one who helped her escape, since he found her, of course Damian would investigate how she managed to leave the castle!

Althea thought that she was very stupid to think that Damian would not find out about this.

She was really scared for Alicia ..she has been nothing but kind to her ever since they met, Althea didn't want Alicia to get hurt because of her

"Althea please help me!" Alicia called out to Althea for help.  She was really scared now!

Alicia thought that it was all over when Damian left her place after he was unable to find anything from her.

Since he found Althea in the palace, Alicia had been convinced that no one would come looking for her again.

However, to her greatest surprise, his guards had come to tell her that Damian wanted to see her.

They didn't even give her the chance to resist, as they dragged her out of her house. Even her father was not able to support them!

Alicia looked up at Damian's cold face and she swallowed a gulp. Was he really able to find out what she had done?!

"What are you doing, Damian?! Let go of Alicia right now. She didn't do anything. I was the one who wanted to escape, if you want to be mad at someone, come at me!" Althea snapped at Damian.

Damian smiled at Althea, a ghostly smile that made her heart pound wildly against her chest once again.

"Althea, you are the baroness. Don't cause a scene, you will find out what will happen soon after!" Damian said to her.

He was angry....really angry that Althea was not willing to stay put and remain his wife.

But there was no way he could bring himself to hurt her. After what happened last time, Damian was really scared.

If something happened to Alicia, he was sure that he would never be able to live with himself anymore.

However, just because he was not able to hurt Althea did not mean there were no other ways to teach her a lesson!

His eyes fell on Alicia whom his guards were still holding onto!

"This woman is the person who helped you escape , right? What do you think I should do to her? After all, you won't have been able to leave the castle if it wasn't for her. What do you think her punishment should be?

Throwing her in the dungeon for the rest of her life isn't a bad idea. Removing her father from his position as prime minister and banishing them from the Westlands for the rest of her life is also an option. What else can I do ..." Damian pretended as if he was thinking of the right way to punish Alicia.

Althea was not the only one who was panicking. Even Alicia was starting to shake now.

"Baron...Althea....please..." She muttered out those words in fear.

"What...what exactly do you want, Damian?! I already said that no one helped me escape!" Althea screamed, her frustration climbing.

"Do you really think I'll believe that you managed to escape on your own despite all of my guards watching you? I just want you to know that if you dare to run away again, every single person who helped you will meet a terrible ending!”
