Chapter 53

Chapter 53
"What exactly do you want?! Do you think that forcing me to remain here is going to do any good?

Althea stared at the cruel face of the man in front of her, extremely shaken to the core. She could not believe that he would actually go this far, threatening her with the people that she cared about!

Damian scoffed, refusing to respond to Althea. He could not bring himself to hurt her, but they were many people that he could take out his anger on!

Grabbing Alicia's collar, he lifted her up, with a sinister grin on his face

"Damian!"

"Baron!"

Both Alicia and Althea cried out at the same time, with fear in their voices.

Althea's eyes were wet with tears as she believed that all of this was her fault. If she had not asked Alicia to help her then she would not be suffering right now.

"Damian please... Please let her go..." Althea pleaded, she would not be able to live with herself if something really happened to Alicia because of her

"Baron, she was the one who asked me to help her! Althea...no, the baroness told me that she wanted to leave you. I had no choice...I thought I was doing the right thing. Please let me go!" Alicia threw all the blame on Althea as she tried to save her own life.

She was really scared that Damian would go ahead and kill her, or even worse, remove her father from his position.

Alicia knew that if her father was no longer the prime minister, it would be over for her. No one would respect her.

And besides, Damian really looked like he was considering killing her. She had heard of Damian's reputation before, how he killed all of their enemies.

Alicia had never thought that one day, Damian's cruelty would be directed at her

Althea did not think much of Alicia throwing her under the bus.

Instead, she nodded her head nervously, "yes, yes, I am the one who asked Alicia to help me escape. If there's anyone you need to blame me!"

"But I won't be able to blame you! You know that, and that's why you decided to escape, right? You know that I will never blame you, so the people around you will just have to suffer for it!" Damian's eyes were red, as he looked at Althea with passion.

No matter what, he would never let her go. He believed that one day, she would see his good intentions, and she would finally fall in love with him back.

Althea sniffed back the tears that were rolling down her cheeks, her heart heavy

"Can you please let Alicia go first?" She asked Damian.

Damian looked at the face of the pale woman who was now sobbing, her legs still dangling off the air.

Alicia looked pitiful, but he didn't feel sorry for her. She deserved this!

"Are you going to try and escape again?" Damian asked Althea

Althea frowned, she really wanted to leave this place, but she also didn't want Alicia to be harmed.

"Let her go first and we can talk about this..." Althea tried to negotiate but Damian was having none of it.

"Ha! It seems you don't want her to live anymore!"

Wrapping his hands around Alicia's neck, Damian started to choke her.

Alicia's eyes went wide with fear, and she opened her mouth, wanting to plead for her life, but she couldn't say anything because of how hard he was choking her.

"Please..." Alicia managed to mutter.

"Let her go. I won't think of running away ever again!" Althea finally relented.

Her eyes dropped to that ground, and the tears that she had been holding back finally fell.

She hated herself, hated that she was so weak she could not run away on her own.

She hated that she was implicating so many people in this.

A happy smile immediately formed on Damian's face when he heard this.

"Are you sure? You aren't going to try and run away again?" He asked her urgently.

Althea smiled, however, the smile on her face was worse than crying.

It seemed...she had finally accepted her fate.

"I can't run. Besides, I cannot stand to see people die because of me. I won't go anywhere, you don't have to punish anyone for my sake!" She finally said.

"As long as you know that!" Damian roughly let go of Alicia, and she fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Alicia, who felt like she had been given a second lease on life, did not wait a second more.

As soon as Damian let go of her, she rushed out of the large hall.

Alicia's hate was filled with hatred, she was even more determined to get her revenge on Althea.

She swore to herself that she would make sure that Althea was disgraced in the kingdom before she forced her to leave.

"Are you satisfied? You've chased away the only friend I've managed to make since I got here. Will you only be satisfied once you've driven everyone away and left me completely on my own?!" Althea was angry.

Since Alicia has been treated like this by Damian, she was sure that Alicia would never want to be friends with her again.

"Alicia is not the only person who is going to suffer for your mistake, Althea. I have to make sure that you remember this lesson. So that you never do something this foolish again!" Damian said.

Althea's eyes went wide when she heard this, and her heart raced fast even more.

She thought that it was all over....who knew that Damian was still plotting something!

"What...do you want to do again, Damian?" Having seen what he did to Alicia, Althea knew now not to underestimate this man.

Damian raised his head, his gaze falling on one of the guards who was guarding the door.

"Bring him in!" He ordered.

Althea's heart skipped more than a beat...she had a good guess who Damian had ordered to be brought in!

A few seconds later, two guards came in dragging a badly beaten up Luis.

"What have you done to him?!" She yelled.
