Damian pushed the door open and stepped in, his eyes staring murderously at Althea.
Althea shifted back until her back hit the wall, she knew that it was all over when she saw that familiar look on Damian’s face. Her heart skipped more than a few beats, and she so badly wanted the ground to open up and swallow her. She wonders what he will do this time, skin her alive?
What kind of situation was this? She finally managed to make it out, but she didn't even get to go outside of the kingdom before she was found again.
Damian got to her and grabbed hold of her hand tightly. Althea winced in pain, tears roll down her eyes.
“You tried to escape again? Where were you planning to go, to your family or to another land?!!”
Althea bit her bottom lip so hard.
Damian raised her chin roughly so she would look at him “No matter where you go, I will always find you!! It seems you don’t know the extent I’m willing to go”
Althea's face was stained with tears as he brushed his fingers against her skin. It hurt but the supply did not leave a bruise.
Damian hugged her tight, he was so angry but glad they had found her.
“Who helped you?” Damian released his hold on her and looked at her.
Althea swallowed “No……nobody” she stammered.
“You know I can hear your heartbeat right. I know when you are lying to me” Damian’s voice was so cold and scary.
Althea clenched her fist tightly “It’s the truth, my heart is beating because I’m already scared of you.
“Is that so?”
Althea nodded
“Okay, let’s find out” Damian grabbed hold of her hand and dragged her outside to the living room area where Prince Enzo was waiting for them.
Enzo turned and looked at them, he saw the fear in Althea’s eye and the pleading look she gave him.
“Bring him out” Damian demanded
Enzo looked at Althea who was still giving him a pleading look not to give Luis to Damian.
Enzo sighed “It was just her”
Althea sighed in relieve
“You are lying, Prince Enzo. I’m very well aware that her personal guard in the north kingdom had come to Westland to help her escape. So bring him out!!” He shouted in anger.
Althea's heart beat fast and she bit her bottom.
“I’m sure you can hear her heart beat too, that is enough to know that I’m right”
“Yes, you are right but mine lost him. She had asked him to escape while she only came with them to the castle. The person will brought with her was another stranger who has already been killed since he is a thief”
Damian let go of Althe and smiled closer to Enzo “You sure”
Enzo nodded
“Alright, we will see about that” Damian said before carrying Althea and leaving the Castle.
Enzo sighed
“What will you do now your highness cause the Baron will find out you actually have him. He has his people in the castle” His right hand man asked.
“Let’s go to the prison, I need to speak to him,” Enzo said.
His guard nodded
Enzo went to the prison in the castle to see Luis. Luis was tied to a chain.
“Raise your head,” Enzo commanded.
Luis raised his head up and looked at Enzo “Where is Althea?” He asked
“Back to the Baron, her husband that cares for her so much” Enzo said
Luis fumed in anger and tried to release himself from the chain as if he could “How could you send her back!!” He said in anger.
“You need to know your place. You had made a big mistake of coming all the way to Westland for her. You should know how powerful the Baron is, there is no way you can take her away from him. In case you do not know, they have a history together that lead to their marriage and contrary to what you think, he loves her so much and won’t hurt her. All she needs is time to adjust and not to escape”
“You know nothing!!” Luis said in anger
“I’m sure part of the reason you want to run away with her is because you love her. It’s in your eyes, only a man that loves a woman will react this way”
“Yes I love her, I have always loved her!!” Luis said in anger.
“You need to be grateful that the Baron is not here to hear what you just said. If not , you will be dead in a second. He had wanted to take you away and kill you but I told him you are not here. You should be thankful to Althea for begging me on your behalf. My people will send you off and make sure you go as far away as possible cause if you are caught by the Baron’s people I won’t be able to save you from his wrath” Enzo said before walking away.
Luis struggled to free himself from the chain in anger but the guards hit him with something hard until he passed out.
They had released him later and sent him away from the capital to escape from the Baron.
When Prince Enzo returned to his chamber, he was informed that the king wanted to see him.
Enzo wondered if the king heard anything. He was sure that his father must have heard about what happened, and so it didn't come as a surprise that he wanted to see him.
The king was sitting in the throne room, a dark look on his face when Enzo walked in.
His mother, the Queen, Latisha was by his side, a soft look on her face as she tried to calm down the king.
"You asked to see me, Your Majesty?" Enzo said as he bowed his head.
"What have you been up to lately?" King Hector asked as he eyed his son suspiciously.
"You have so many eyes in the palace, I am sure that you must know everything that's going on," Enzo said lazily.
He didn't want to waste his time going back and forth with the king.
"You..." King Hector pointed a shaky finger at Enzo, his eyes filled with anger.
He felt as if his son had just disrespected him.
"Please calm down, remember your health! Don't let things get out of hand!" The queen reminded him dutifully by the side.
After making sure that the king was calm, queen Latisha turned to her son.
"Enzo, he is your father, he just wanted to know what you're up to! Can you speak to your father nicely instead of trying to pick a fight with him each time you open your mouth?" Queen Latisha scolded her son.
Enzo turned his eyes away, not wanting to argue with his parents.
When it came to his father, the king, Enzo has always felt like he was never his father, just the king.
King Hector, seeing Enzo's attitude, decided to get straight to the point too.
"I heard that you have been having sexual relations with some maids in the castle, is that right?" The king asked, his gaze on Enzo suspicious as he waited for his answer.
Enzo clenched his fist in anger “It’s not some maids, it’s the woman I love”
"Is that so?" The king asked slowly, dragging out the end of the words.
“How dare you stand her wand tell us you are in love with a maid!!” Queen Latisha said in anger.
Enzo felt anger flowing through him when he heard this. Since they now know, he could no longer guarantee the safety of the woman he loves.
“I love her and I want to spend the rest of my life with her”
“Shut up!! You won’t bring shame to the royal family!!” The king gritted his teeth.
Enzo didn't respond to his father's outburst, and the king cleared his throat.
"The fact that the Baron married a human from another land is still the talk of the whole kingdom, the Carter family is now a laughing stock and their reputation is going down the drain. Now imagine you falling in love with a maid!! Your reputation and that of the rest of the royal family will be destroyed!! We can’t be a laughing stock either!!” Queen Latisha as she breathed hard in anger.
King Hector had no idea what Damian was thinking when he married a human. But he won’t allow his son to marry a maid, not when he is to be the next king.
"I have decided Enzo, you are going to take a wife!”
